Notes:
Imperial Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels for 16 months.
Forged from immense amounts of barley and oat malt, Anvil Chorus annealed from its hardened state in select Bourbon casks for 16 months. Tempered notes of brownie batter, dried fig, and toasted honey wait to be released from this leviathan Imperial Stout.

Pours a pitch-black coloration with a tiny, fizzy head that soon fades away. Smells of slightly roasted, caramel malt and strong notes of chocolate and dark fruit, with raisin and fig standing out, as well as a distinct bourbon presence and hints of vanilla, honey and oak. Taste is a good balance of slightly roasted, caramel malt, strong chocolate and dark fruit, with notes of raisin, fig, plum and dates, as well as some vanilla, brown sugar and honey, with hints of licorice and musty oak. Finishes sweet and boozy, with some bourbon, chocolate, dark fruit and honey lingering in the aftertaste, Full mouthfeel with a rich body and light carbonation.
While there certainly is quite a rich bourbon presence to this, it's perhaps a bit too rich, leaving a sharp, boozy aftertaste, while also feeling a bit too sweet for my personal taste, I would have wished for a bit more roast and bitterness here, to balance out those sweet brown sugar, vanilla and honey notes. While the slightly roasted malts and hints of licorice and oak prevent this from becoming quite too cloying. I think this makes for quite a rich BA Imperial Stout with a distinct Bourbon presence that is just not quite to my personal taste though. I enjoyed it well-enough, but would not certainly not purchase another, especially at the price point.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with almost no head. The nose is a bit more subtle than I would have expected from such a big beer. Chocolate, cinnamon, bourbon, vanilla, oak, honey, brown sugar. The taste is really nice. It's a very still beer - not a typical beer from Jackie O's. Black licorice, dark chocolate, brown sugar, maple, honey, burnt toffee, figs, plums, port, and raisins. Mouthfeel is very thick and, again, lacking carbonation. The ABV isn't completely hidden as there is a slight burn on the way down. Aftertaste is bourbon and chocolate truffle. Overall, a really nice stout.

Thanks to D4kapa for this 375ML bottle, another in a long line of Jackie O’s sugar water polluting my body going back a decade or more. Yeesh.
The pour is dark & flat as most JO stouts with a nose of sharp roast & a bit of bourbon.
Anvil Chorus is fine. Having a tough time nailing this one down – it’s about down-the-middle as a barrel aged stout gets. Some roast, some bourbon, some booze, some oak, a drying finish, perhaps touch of vanilla or cacao. Certainly easy to sip.
Solid barrel aged stout. Full stop.

From an undated 12.7oz bottle into a pint glass.
Pours a thick black with maybe half a finger of tan head that dissipates quickly leaving an outer ring and just a touch of lacing.
Smelling some bourbon, coffee, dried dark fruit and light chocolate. Aroma is nice but nothing to really write home about.
The taste is...heavenly. Incredibly rich mix of creamy coffee, dark chocolate, mild dark fruits and bourbon.
Thick, smooth mouth feel. Boozy aftertaste. Low carbonation.
This is such a pleasure and privilege to drink. Great combo of taste and mouthfeel.

Description: Appearance is shiny and black, like glass, with zero bubbles or head. Zero. Smell has heavy notes of bourbon and oak with hits of leather and tobacco combining to produce a strong, bold aroma. Taste is roasty and chocolatey, with oak and bourbon similar to the smell, although not as prominent. It's sweeter than the smell would indicate but not in bad or cloying way. Feel is thick, smooth and velvety - everything a stout should feel like and more.
Overall: 4.5 (This beer is very good and I would definitely drink it again) No surprise, but JO's nailed it with this beer. All the textbook flavors you'd expect in a BBA stout with an outstanding feel. This is a sipper and one to splurge on.

Another day and another Jackie O's barrel aged brew. Anvil Chorus is a stout that doesn't have any additions and leans heavily on barley. The depth of all the blended ingredients creates a brownie like sweetness that naturally brings this one up to a higher level.

Took out of fridge and let sit for 15 min or so to warm up, it's hot as hell out here right now so must be at near room temp by now.
Poured out very light brown, cola brown into glass and did not form any head. Settled black .
Smell is big time charred dark malts and bourbon on the backbone. Some toffee, cocoa and sweet caramel as well come in with dark fruit. A lot going on and i like it.
Taste is a very nice blend of all smells i expected. The alcohol heat isn't as aggressive as say Deths Tar, but still very prominent here. It starts with nice heat from barrel and followed by waves of bakers dark chocolate, plums and a nice touch of sweetness from satan knows where . I like this.
Mouthfeel is also very well put together. A little thick, all the flavors stay on the tongue and one doesn't overpower the other .
I really enjoy this and will be drinking this bottle by end of day. I came in apprehensive expecting what BA Dark Apparition was,but this is much much better. I can't wait to try Temple Of Minerva

Picked up a 375ml bottle from the Blue Door Bottleshop 2-17-22 for $16.00. 2022 edition consumed 5-28-22.
Beer poured black as night with a minimal tan head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is very nice, medium roasted malts with a touch of bourbon alcohol and secondary notes of leather, vanilla, and chocolate.
Taste follows the nose with the huge medium roasted malt base that supplies the canvas for the barrel to impart a touch of bourbon, vanilla, cocoa, and leather. Finishes perfectly balanced with ample hopping.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall a world class effort in marrying a fine base impy stout and the magic of the bourbon barrels. Definitely worth the splurge!

12 oz bottle, poured into a goblet at ~40 degrees F.
L: Pours your usual stout inky black, and forms absolutely no head whatsoever even with an aggressive pour.
S: When cold, boozy chocolate wafts out of the glass, with some hints of stone fruit beneath. As it warms, the stone fruit blossoms into dark berries and figs, with some soil, caramel, and vanilla.
T: Cold, this is a lovely melange of dark chocolate, berries, leather, tobacco, prune, and fig, with some subtle tinges of anise and soil. As it warms, the same flavors remain, but their mingling smooths out. Some caramel and vanilla manifest, while the soil and anise drift more towards the foreground.
F: Candied malt syrup, coats the entire mouth.
O: This is a lovely delight of a stout.

If you're in to specialty malts, this beer is for you. Brownies, molasses, burnt sugar, baker's chocolate and woody bourbon flavors throughout. This beer is what every pasty stout wishes it was. But instead of loading a beer up with adjuncts, this is a masterfully done beer.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter. This monster brew pours a rich blackish brown
with a thin head of khaki foam that settles to a thin ring with faint lacing---but with a
swirl shows some nice legs! Nose of rich decadent bourbon, oak, vanilla, moderate char,
coffee, dark chocolate, and rich roasted goodness of dark roasted berry and malts.
Flavors hit the note with bourbon, oak, blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, cream, brulee,
char, deep roasted goodness, and layers of well placed malts without being cloying.
Excellent mouth feel; full body, smooth, rich, low carbonation, coating, and finishing
moderately dry.
Overall----wow....simply WOW.
Worth the price of admission!
Cheers!
