Look - Very dark body. Little head with aggressive pour. What head did develop bubbled slowly from the bottom. Tan. Not so much lacing as sediment (or very small bubbles) on glass.

Smell - Maple. Chocolate. Coffee. Earthy.

Taste - Sweet. Chocolate. Nutty. Coffee. Bitter in the finish.

Feel - Heavy. Mild carbonation. Warm with alcohol but not overpowering.

Overall - I had to look at the label twice to make sure I wasn't drinking the barrel aged version. Good stuff. Warms you up. BA still in storage.

poured 375ml into chalice.

A - Thick obsidian with a mocha 2 finger head. Slowly fades into a collar and leaves behind spotty lacing.

S - A pleasant, sweet and roasted aroma with dark chocolate and walnuts. Some dark fruits and molasses.

F - Starts off semi sweet, but the hops add some bitterness. Roastse malts bring dark chocolate and there is a hint of caramel. Walnuts add a nutty component that ties it all together nicely.

M - Thick and rich with soft carbonation.

O - Delicious RIS and I like the nuttiness to it.

Dark fruit, brown sugar, earth, nuts and alcohol in the scent. Taste of rich earth, roasted malts, brown sugar, some dark fruit and nuts. More nut and hop flavors come out as it warms. I would really like to try this with a little age.

Beautiful dark brew topped with a respectable, dark tan head. Good retention.

Smell is lovely: super roasty, like dark coffee, with hints of overripe dark fruit or red grapes, nuts, and a touch of yeast.

Flavor follows: this is a big, smooth stout. Rich, dark cacao and coffee notes, along with a touch of char, from the roasted barley; just a little bit of sweetness from the yeast and the caramel malt, and earthy, nutty notes.

Thick and smooth, but with a little bit of fizz as it immediately hits the tongue. Alcohol presence is fairly subdued for the high ABV.

This is an excellent stout, and one I can only imagine makes for a fantastic BBA version.
