Very dark pour, light brown head 1/2". Hit the bourbon notes, coffee was greater, chocolate malt. Brought the booze in the aroma.
Some bitter aspect, anise, not overly done, although almost any is too much for my tastes. Alcohol definitely was there. Lots of barrel in the taste. Well done, but isn't going to blow anyone away, the kopi luwak coffee was pretty indistinguishable from other coffees.

2011 Bottle 6/213. 22 oz bottle poured into my FFF Teku glass and split with my husband.
A- Body is a dark brown/nearly black hue which is opaque and does not light pass through. An aggressive pour yields a 1 finger creamy dark tan head which fades pretty quickly and leaves a thin collar and some lacing.
S- Smooth, rich, bold dark coffee, overripe plum, vanilla, oak, bourbon sweetness and anise. Nose is pretty balanced overall. A slight hint of alcohol comes through as well.
T- Somewhat soft upfront with some coffee overtones, vanilla and oak make up the background with just a hint of bourbon flavor. Smooth coffee, a hint of overripe fruit, and very little alcohol come through for the finish. Left to linger is overripe fruit, and a mild alcohol heat.
F- Low to medium carbonation and a relatively thick, heavy body. Body is smooth-but not as much so as oil of Aphrodite.
O- Overall this is a great beer-maybe only slightly past its prime. The bourbon is soft and this brew is extra smooth and rich. You can definitely taste the base beer- Dark Apparition with this, so even though its BBA and with Kopi Lowak added- Jackie O's never loses sight of the original beer.

22oz bottle into snifter. Vintage 2012, bottle 166/300. Thanks again, StormKing47.
A: Pours a thick inky black with a rather thin dark brown head that quickly faded into a faint bubbly collar.
S: Huge notes of sweet and boozy bourbon barrel, rich dark chocolate, and mellow, smooth coffee. There something vinous in there as well, hopefully not infection.
T: Fuck. Another JO beer turned to shit by infection. It’s not as bad in this one as it is in some of the other stouts, but this beer is still ruined. The bright spritzy tart cherry and vinous grape hit first, followed by the BA stout flavors of rich chocolate, mild coffee, and slight vanilla. The bourbon is mellow and has notes of spicy oak as well. This tastes like it would have been a great beer, although the coffee is pretty faded.
M: Tingly frothy, spritzy, ample infected carbonation, tart infected motuhfeel, full body.
O: I’ve got to say the past few JO beers I’ve had have been a hot mess. Too bad, I was excited for this one.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle #189/300. Reviewed from notes.
Appearance - Just shy of inky black. No real head. A hint of transparency at the edges.
Smell - Tons of coffee. It gets a little abrasive. Not a lot of bourbon, just a touch of it. Some chocolate, but most of it is overwhelmed by coffee.
Taste - Very coffee forward. So much so that it's a little acidic. Even tangy. Again, a bit of chocolate, but all I really taste is coffee. Some bourbon, but not a lot of barrel character.
Mouthfeel - Medium body for a stout, not big enough to handle the coffee. Very acidic. Medium low carbonation.
Overall - Too much coffee and acidic flavor with not enough rich flavors from the barrel and stout to balance it out.

Thanks to queens1130 for sharing this one at jmgrub's tasting.
2012 vintage. Bottle # 130/213.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, bourbon, cocoa, and coffee aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, coffee, and vanilla flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice balance of bourbon and coffee qualities.
