a lot of times when a beer is "unremarkable" its bad, like, generic and plain and bland and forgettable. this is sort of a different kind of unremarkable, in that there is nothing about it that makes it strange or different from any others out there, no crazy secondary fermentation, no fruit, wood, or anything else, but its just super super textbook. not surprising, all of their beer is amazing, but this is one of the first sours i have had from them, and its fantastic. plenty tart but not too acidic to drink a lot of, very well carbonated and hyper dry, light but not flavorless on the grain, still a nice fresh wheat malt flavor, a little body, slight herbaceous quality from the hops, clean finish, awesome. this was just the base berliner (on tap at hops and pie), but it looks like they do a ton of special fruited variants and so forth. hope to see a few of those come to town as well. these guys can do no wrong, everything they touch turns to gold. one of the best straight up berliners ive had in awhile.

Bottle poured into pint glass. Hazy, unfiltered straw color with nice one finger head. Sour, funk bread yeast smell. Tart, sour yet crisp feel on the palate. A nice beer

Bottle (2013)

Thanks for opening this with me, BdubleEdubleRUN!

A bright, glowing, slightly hazed electric yellow. Minimal white head. Leaves the glass nearly clean. Appropriate for the style and a very pretty color.

Lots of bright lemon and and some bright acidic sour and tart character. A bit of nose, and no cheese notes, fortunately, that I often find in lackluster versions of this style. Very appropriate and very much to style.

The flavor matches the aroma. Expressive lemon and good amounts of tart and sour character combine for an incredibly easy-drinking berliner. There's a bit of a wheat character, but not as much as others I've had. Regardless, this is incredibly tasty stuff.

Thin to medium in body, though very appropriate for the style. Moderate carbonation. Very appropriate and exceptionally drinkable.

16.9 oz bottle poured into nonic pint

A: Was a crystal clear yellow bright orange body until the last few drops hit the glass and clouded it up. Not much of a head disappeared as quick as it was poured.

S: Vinegar, lemons, light Apple, and some wheat and coriander has a slight salty smell to it.

T: Light Apple, lemon, wheat, and that coriander seems more pronounced in the taste slightly sour.

M: High carbonation with a slight sour cling to the body medium to lighter body.

O: This is a pretty tasty beer but I do not see where or how it distinguishes itself from the rest of the pack except it is a lot more money.
