Sour wheat ale fermented with Jackie O’s house lactobacillus and brettanomyces cultures. Produced via a unique Solera method ensuring consistency and variation over time. This is not a kettle sour.

Bottled in 2017. Been wanting to try a beer from these guys for a while. Found bottles at Grassroots in Jax.

Golden yellow with a short lived head. Wonderful aroma of funk, barn, yeast, fruit. Flavor is similar. Dry, tart, refreshing, fruity. Great feel and body. The epitome of the style. This was absolutely delicious.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a fluffy white head over an ever so slightly hazy golden body with scant lacing. Nose of wheat, slight funk, and a bit of citrus. Taste mirrors nose very nicely. Very enjoyably refreshing and not too tart with a finish of slight breadiness. Nice feel and overall a great job from Athens, OH. Cheers!

Bottle.

A: Lots of coriander/lemon, coupled with some light funk, and sourness.

A: Golden color, clear, with frothy white head that quickly dissipates into the glass.

T: Lemony/coriander, coupled with light funk, slight bread and sweetness, followed by a light, lingering sourness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Solid; interesting lemony, lightly funky character. The beer is pretty easy to drink and quite refreshing.

Poured from the bottle into a wheat ale glass.

Impressively clear body, with excellent amount of fast rising and flowing pinhead sized carbonation. Crystal clear brass gold color, with a touch of white bleach one finger head. Settles to a good 4mm sized puck while settling nicely. Neat looking Berliner.

Tart lemon and touches of chewy wheat on the nose. A good sense of doughy malt but it's a little faint. Thick sensing body, but with more sourness than expected, leaving and overall solid impression for the aroma.

Sharp palate on first sip. Big touches of tartness but more of a hard candy and almost jawbreaker like flavor. Faint touches of malt but over run by a very unique sour property. Carbonation is playful, but also a very steely quality that doesn't quite go mineral, hard to put into words. Fruit quality seems to be replaced more with candy like flavors, and much of the wheat depth and flavor is a tad lost.

Beer is slightly haphazard unnecessarily aggressive but at least provides a solid and decent flavor profile in the realm.
