On tap at Jackie O's One Funky Afternoon.
This and the Raccoon Dubbel turned out to be my favorites of the weekend.
Appearance
Served in a snifter. This tripel dwells in the darker shades of the Tripel family. Its a deep goldenrod color with a nice white, wispy cap. Its fully hazed and takes on a satiny appearance.
Aroma
The honey in this really allows this beer's sweetness to pop while allowing the inherent earthiness of the style to remain untouched. Lots of wild flower with pears and apples. A nice chalky smelling yeast adds the spiciness of clove.
Taste
Very much in line with the aroma. The honey doesn't overpower things, it only peeks out at the finish. At which point you get a really nice, rich flavor of honey. The bulk of the flavor profile is fruity with notions of apples and pear with clove and some grassy hops.
Mouthfeel
Carbonation is fluffy and full. This has a really full body, even for the style. It could be all in my head but it feels like the honey has played a large roll in giving this beer some added weight. Its smooth, fluffy and nice.
Overall
Another really great Belgian style from the Monks of Abbaye de Athenia Brasserie des Jackie O's. I hope Pater Clark keeps it up with these abbey ales and sends em to Bodega!

Bottle 113 of 360
Appearance: Pours a hazy apricot color with a modest head that quickly fades to a film; decent lacing action
Smell: The honey comes through in the aroma, with tart stone fruit elements
Taste: Doughy malts, up front, with a touch of honey but by mid-palate, a sour vinegar flavor takes over; very tart through the finish, with flavors of orange pith
Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation
Overall: I am being generous with my scores as this beer has not aged well; I note the last reviewer picked up the sourness as did I but nobody before has commented on that aspect

22oz bottle (291/360) served in a snifter.
L - clear orange/copper color with a thin white head that became a thin ring.
S - slight vinegar, white grapes and pear.
T - I'm getting the vinegar along with a pear flavor, there's honey in here?
F - medium bodied with very mild carbonation.
O - maybe this was oxidized(?) but it was drinkable and quite different.

1 pint 6 ounce bottle
Served in a snifter
A - It is a hazy golden color. A center pour yields minimal off white head.
S - I get some pear and lighter fruit.
T - The pear theme continues. I get no spice or much else. It is not overly complicated.
M - Moderate and very smooth
O - It is not spicy or over the top. It is simple and very good. I could drink this anytime.
