plae golden yellow with a thin off white head. Decent lace left behind from a sparkling clear liguid. A nice bit of carbonation bubbling up from the bottom.
Smell was light, with the biggest hints coming from grain, and a nice bread tone. Slightly sour tones present as well, maybe some sour grape or apple. First impression was crisp and somewhat bitter. Nice play on the palate and a decent hopper aftertaste. Biggest flavors were by far malts and grains, with a musty bread flavor being the biggest factor here.
Overall it was a little bitter to be a real sessionable ale, and is honestly a bit forgettable.

From growler to shaker pint glass on 8/21/11
*From notes
A: A lovely and lightly filtered (or well racked) pale golden. A one finger foamy white head fades quickly, and leaves a thin veil of lacing around the glass.
S: Slightly musty lemon and massive quantities of freshly picked lavender and herbs. It's wonderful.
T: Flavorful beyond compare. It's floral, herbaceous and jam packed with lavender. Hints of honeycomb gracefully compliments the acidic backbone. The finish is slightly grainy, which balances the herbal nature of the beer.
M: Decent enough. Good carbonation and pretty well put together for a beer of this ABV.
O: Jackie O's Golden Spice of one of the best session beers I've quaffed. Jam packed with flavor and easy to put back, this brew is absolutely on point. Everything here comes together in a really simple yet masterful way. Well done, Brad.

This could be the new "light" beer for Jackie O's, it was very well received at the bar. A very light clear color with a gold glow to it. Head is quick, leaves white lace around. Aromas are very herbal and distinct. Smells almost like a cup of chai tea. Taste is light and crisp. The light malt sweetness is nicely bittered by the spice bush. Great matching of flavors. Interesting beer, very cool spices.

Nice white head capping the brew./near crystal clarity - hell, I can see to the bottom of the glass.
Smells twiggy, grassy and herbal, though not as spicy as I first expected.
Taste like rye, grass, chicory, and sage.
Mouhfeel is dry and bitter.
Overall interesting, but I prefer Saison du BUFF for my spice fix.
