Shared with JLindros, 2012 vintage bottle 174/197.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear golden hue with a thin head that fades to leave thin wisps and a light halo.

S - Aromas of cherries galore, sour funky blonde. Lots of sour cherry pits. Decent about of vinegar.

T - Taste is quite tart and acidic, lots of cherries, great funk, nice barrel notes. Nice kriek notes, light vinegar and acid notes. Not overwhelming at all or overpowering. The cherries are floral and tart.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, clean, good acid level.

O - Overall this beer was impressive, was expecting this to be an acid bomb but it wasn't. Really lovely kriek.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Bottle # 188/197. 2012. Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Pours like grapefruit juice. No head. No bubbles. Hazy pinkish orange.

Smell - Musty fruit acidic aroma. Cherry and a touch of funk. Lots of different acids and aromas coming out of this. Not a "clean" sour aroma.

Taste - Strong sourness right up front. Consistent backdrop of cherry, but it plays second fiddle to the acidity of this thing. Puckering, like many other Jackie O's offerings. Too much, really, without a lot of complexity.

Mouthfeel - Dry and really sour. Oak comes out, too.

Overall - Evelyn was more impressive. This had more sourness and a less complex fruit presence.

Poured from the bottle into a goblet.

The beer pours a slightly cloudy orangish amber color with not much head to speak of. I'm getting funky tart cherries, and some lemon juice in the nose along with some oak. The taste is full of cherries up front. This is a really tart beer that reminds me more of citrus juice than vinegar. Funky but light with a tart cherry and oak finish. The body is medium to think with tingly carbonation and a really dry finish.

I really enjoyed this one and would be happy to have more if they make it.

This is the second JO's STAFF release, 2012 vintage, #63 of 197 bottles. In the words of Brad:

"Lucile is a kriek. I aged it for 33 months. This was a single barrel, no blending. 5% abv with over 60lbs of cherries added over the past 2 years."

Poured into a tulip.

3.5 A: Opaque grapefruit juice appearance. Fizzy, frothy white head. Retention is a bit lacking though.

4.0 S: Tart cherries kick this off, but there isn't much acetic sourness. Rather, this is a funk driven kriek much like 3F's. Musty basement, dusty dry wood, and musky woodland creatures. Big hit of oak, but no hints of astringency. Berry fruitiness follows, which can probably be attributed to lactic acid. Complex and extremely well balanced, but I'd like just a hint more sourness.

4.5 T: My complaint about the nose disappears in the taste. There is a light acetic component and the tartness of the cherries makes up the rest of the ground. Huge cherry flavor. Again there is musty basement, dry wood, and musk. Loads of tangy lactic acid giving some berry again, but also so much more. It's really vibrant and when I say it's tangy, I mean it. Lots of oak without any astringency. While the nose was well balanced without much sourness, the taste is well balanced with it.

4.0 M: Lighter body. Carbonation is light and spritzy, but I'd ask for a touch more of it. Then it'd be pretty damn near perfect. Super smooth.

4.5 D: This is a damn good kriek. I wish I had more than one bottle left because that is going to a super generous BA that I'm indebted to. Give this a try if you have a chance.

2012, thanks to rudzud for sharing.
Some bubbles for a little head, mostly clear honey orange very slight amber hue.

Nose is tons of kriek sour cherries, some sour funk, acidic note, little blond malt thing, otherwise just all cherries.

Taste is tons more cherry, sticky sweet cherry candy, sour cherries and sticky flemmy sour funk, little candy thing, so much cherry. Nice acidity, level.

Mouth is med bod flemmy, decent acidity, decent carb.

Overall pretty good, nice sour acidic, lots of cherry but still pretty much a kriek which is not my fav style of sour.

Poured from bottle at a tasting on 1/4/2012.

First pours are extremely translucent reddish color with a little bit of a head. The bottom of the bottom by contrast was a really thick haze of sediment.

Smells tart, slightly fruity, not a ton of cherry in the nose though.

Taste is tartness first, then you get cherries, more than in the nose. Not a very complex sour, it's a pretty clean sour to fruit transition.

Mouthfeel is nice a crisp but could probably use slightly more carbonation, it felt like a light amber ale or something.

A good sour, easy to drink. Would give it a 3.75, so I split the difference between taste and overall.
