From the Belgian 4 pack in a 12 oz bottle and poured into a snifter. This
nice dubbel pours a moderately murky brown color with amber cola highlights
and a nice head of off white foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin swirling pool,
and features some light sudsy lacing. Nose of brown sugars, subtle breaded notes,
and a touch of dark fruit. Flavors hit the right note with brown sugars and date bread
touched with light banana flavors that fade into the rear of the taste to a subtle cherry
and light herbal hop. Solid mouth feel; medium body, medium carbonation, and a lightly
dry malt touched finish. Overall, this is a solid little dubbel that reminds me of Bornum in
many ways (IE todays incarnation without the yeast layer). Also, it is worth noting that this is a
re-branded brew follow the original recipe for this older brew as Sprecher is known to do
which leaves me with absolutely no complaints. It is a solid enjoyable experience.

Cheers

16oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.

A: Deep brown body with a finger of very fine tan froth. Ok retention and light lace.

S: Very sweet: butterscotch-drenched banana bread. Crazy, and a bit over the top.

T: Follows the nose precisely. Sweet toffee, huge banana, and some cotton candy. Burned bread crust on the finish. Intense, but a little unbalanced with all the banana.

M: Creamy medium body. Lovely soft carbonation. Perfect.

O: I'd heard some high praise of this beer, and was rather disappointed in its one-note banana insanity. It was certainly fun in its own way, but not a terribly impressive example of the style.

Cheers!

Reviewed from notes.

Has a brownish ruby color with about a finger and a half of creamy head but little to no lacing. Smells like brown sugar with lighter tones of red vinous notes and some green apple notes as well. Tastes more like raisins and caramel sauce with some toasted bread and more misc dark fruits in the background. Medium body and carbonation levels, smooth nice texture. Worth trying.

Pours a deep red color with short head thats very thin and fizzy lacing. Aroma of currants and a medium mouthfeel. Not much carbonation.
Tastes of oak, sherry, coffee and raisins. Somewhat sweet, no bitter taste whatsoever. Finishes with a slight throat warming note. This was one of Sprechers 25th anniversary beers
