Pours with a traditional hefeweizen hazy gold color and fluffy white head. Nose is also traditional - banana/clove. Very yeasty on tip, a medium mouthfeel. Flavors fail to round out, leaves me with a bit of a burnt flavor. Has all of the qualities of a Bavarian Weiss beer, I'm just a bit turned off by that burnt flavor in the mid-mouth.

This brew pours a medium head of fine to large white bubbles and a slightly cloudy straw yellow body. It has banana clove aroma and a smooth initial flavor rush of banana and apricot. It finishes with a slight tingling mouth feel. The buttery notes of a Hefe-Weiss are just barely present. It is just an average at best Hefe-Weiss.

Pour from 16 oz bottle into pint glass. I will have to do a "do over" with this beer as something doesnt seem right about it. Bottle says "best buy 120 days of bottle by date on shoulder" but I could not find a date. Heavy sediment in the bottom, much much more so than any other hefe I've ever seen. Very little head, smell was virtually non-existant and taste was poor. Very bitter and that was about all I could taste. In fairness to the brewer I will give it another chance down the line, as of now I have to say no. I hope this bottle was bad as I love this style and most people really seemed to enjoy this particular beer, I could not finish the bottle.

sprecher hefe weiss

a 4 cloudy light lemon and apricot body is topped by a fairly short head that settles to a creamy looking cap. not particularly merengue-like foam, but it'll do. no lace.

s 4 fresh wheat, cracker malt, and unripe-to-ripe bananas. there is clove there too, but not as a separate element. it's as though the banana is infused with clove. this has a refreshing, light nose that makes me think it will be a lightweight quencher rather than a flavor-heavy treat.

t 3.5-4 definitely a quencher. checking the abv, i see 4.2%, which makes me feel a lot better about this beer. the flavors are light but pleasant, wheat and unripe banana, with a somewhat lemony, yeasty finish. a bit chalky. pretty dry overall, which is appropriate to its assumed task. if only it were about 25 degrees warmer in this room right now ...

m 3-3.5 the body is this beer's weakest point. light is okay, but the carbonation should be much creamier. instead it is on the spritzy side, though the creamy-looking cap is holding well.

o 4 this is a good choice if a simple, light german wheat is called for. should try this head to head with kellerweis. if memory serves, the SN product is more flavorful and yeastier, but with more of an aspirin thing going.

Appearance: lotsa hefe in the hefe-weiss...good start. a cloudy orange pour but with only a small head. could be bigger on a wheat.

Smell: typically strong banana and clove here. a little citrusy in the nose as well.

Taste & Mouthfeel: right away this beer is creamy and smooth with a light to medium body. citrusy off the top with lingering spice and a hint of banana. the clove has good staying power. watered down towards the finish but still had plenty of good qualities to go around.

Drinkability: im a fan this style anyway but having said that, this beer achieves hefe-weiss status. i enjoyed it and think it's a great summer time brew.

Paid under $2 for a sweet looking pint bottle...

The appearence of this beer was bad, typical golden base with a minimal head with no retention and no lacing, disappointed! The aroma was a little weaker then I'd expect for a Hefe, but it was still decent.

The taste is where it's at, this bad boy is fully flavored with a bold hit from the first swig, nice full floral-banana duo going on here. Mouthfeel works well with this, somewhat smooth but a touch harsh to the palette, but the drinkability is high because it goes down smooth and not-too-sweet.

Final Thought: If this poured and looked good, the BA score would be much higher... this beer is not well defined but with a few tweaks it could make an outstanding beer someday!

Pours a hazy yellow with a billowing explosive white head, with huge bubbles, from the fat 16 oz bottle.

Lemon, grasses and a little pollen come through with the big yeast rush.

Chuck full of yeast and a little bit tart to start. Sits a little thin on the tounge but is by no way bad. Finishes slightly dry with a lot of that sweet flowery aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is just a little on the "not chewy enough" side for a Hefe.

Drinkable to all.

Decent yes, good, not really! As a hug fan of this style the first thing I like to see is that great white head coming off the pour. Not here-just a little tease, then a little ring with nearly no lace. The color is near what it need be, but not impressive in any way. Aromas hint at banana and citrus. The mouthfeel is nice and zippy, offering good refreshment. The taste is above average but there are so many good examples out there, that this one just cannot be lumped in with the very good, and rather stiff competition. Clean and crisp with citrus and some rustic malted whole grain notes followed by a snappy finish-an above average effort-no more.

Poured from a dark brown bottle into a tall Weizen glass

Appearance: Cloudy deep golden almost amber color. small foamy head that didn't retain long.

Smell: Yeasty with scents sweet banana and cloves. Nice yeasty sweetness with banana and bubblegum phenolics. Better nose than most American made Hefe's.

Taste: Sweet wheat up front with nice spice on the finish. Not as sweet as some of the German Hefe's and a bit dry, but in a good way. Not bad at all for an American Hefe.

Mouth feel: Slippery on the tongue and nice carbonation.

Drinkability: It's very good, and I picked up a four pack at my local store for four bucks. Can't beat that price!. Will look for this one again.

Poured from a 16 oz. bomber into a glass tumbler (all I had available at the time).

Nice white head at first, however it quickly diminished. Golden cloudy wheat-colored body with a good deal of sediment. A lack of rising bubbles is a little concerning for this style.

Strong wheat scent with notes of fresh green apple.

Harvest wheat is immediately noticed (of course), giving way to a slightly sour yeast. Slight orange notes are also apparent.

Medium carbonation gives this a somehwat thicker mouthfeel (for a hefeweizen), but keeps it crisp.

Like most hefeweizens, I could certainly have a few more. The lack of complexity doesn't make me want to continue exploring this beer, but the decent flavor and low ABV (4.20) makes this a great thirst-quencher.
