From a bomber to a big mouth wine glass.
Enjoyed after spicy (chicken) Mexican soup.

Golden orange, dense. Rather thin, creamy head, with plenty of lacing.
Seems prone to particles, but not to the 'junk in the trunk' level.

Initial scent seems to simply be citrus malt, with a secondary floral aroma.

Creamy, with a slight sour tang. A more harmonious balance, between the malt and hops, there could never be!

A Perfect change of pace from the hop boldness of, say, a Maximus, or the unforgettable malty trek of a Go West .

Perfect for drinking at home; the booze (and bitterness) is so well hidden, that one may easily be ambushed.

L: Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass. Had an amber color and a very cloudy consistency. There was an inch or so of foamy, fairly long-lasting head. Above average lacing.

S: A nice aroma of hops, pine, light fruit, and malt.

T: Tasted of a fair shot of pine resin (just enough), a little bit of malt, lots of hops (again, just enough), a bit of citrus, some floral notes, and some caramel as well. In general, this is a well-balanced flavor, with a lot of hops and pine shining through. Pretty tasty for sure.

F: A solid amount of carbonation with a somewhat slick finish. Medium-bodied.

O: A well done, easy drink DIPA. Mellower than some others of the style, but this isn't a bad thing.

I bought a 22 oz bomber because I was in a small town without much selection. When I got to my room and read the bottle and saw "balance " and that it's only 84 ibu I had the feeling that it would be disappointing and it was. The nose has that sweet smell that means there isn't much hop flavor and is belgian like. Same for the taste. Not my style.

Being from Washington, this is one of the first double IPA's I had because it's brewed in the pacific north west. I was blown away by how in your face hoppy it is and it makes me sad that I can only get it in a seasonal variety pack in my area because I can never find it in a 6 pack. It's definitely one if my favorites from Ninkasi.

$ 6.47 (Including tax)/bomber ($ 0.293/oz) at State Line Liquors, Elkton, MD
Undated bomber at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter.
Aroma – pine.
Head small (Maximum < two cm, aggressive pour), off white, frothy but dense, rapidly diminishing to an irregular one to three mm ring with some clinging head trying to be lacing and a small rocky island.
Lacing – fair. Some segments of rings, mostly tiny bubbles with a few gaps.
Body – medium yellow, slight haze. Some debris in the bottle bottom, from the dry hopping, no doubt.
Flavor – Nicely bitter with the pine resin sticking to my hard palate. Very smooth and easy to drink with some floral aftertastes. Malt and alcohol are not evident in the taste. No diacetyl.
Palate – medium, slightly oily, soft carbonation.

I first had Tricerahops several years ago (Pre-BA days) when I was vacationing in Oregon, primarily in the Columbia River Gorge. This was my favorite beer from that trip and I’m happy to see it’s as good as I remember.

Appearance 3.75, Aroma 4, Flavor 4.25, Palate 4.25, Overall 4.25.

Good beer. Excellent balance. I'd put it in the same category as the dogfish head 90 min IPA. Malt and hip flavors are equally present with neither dominating. I would personally prefer a bit more on the hop side of things. Smells malty, looks good, not a lot of carbonation but I think this bottle is a bit outdated. Good beer but nothing crazy. Totally drinkable. However for the price I might go for something a little cheaper considering it's not really outstanding enough to warrant an $11 4 pack. Give it to me in like a 13 dollar 6 pack and I totally dig it. Definitely not a west coast style IPA. If you're looking for hop forward resin and fruit, look elsewhere, if you like very balanced malt/hop ratios then this might just be for tou

Got this one on tap from the brewery and not long after, got a 22oz bottle. Much better on tap in my opinion, but that might be because it was fresh from the brewery. Regardless, a very good double IPA.
