Poured from 220z bottle into SN Imperial Pint

L - Clear golden yellow, stunning white 2 finger head that persists, great lacing

A - Very subtle and hard to detect much here. Biscuits, light lemon spritz, grass and flowers

T - Like the smell, it is hard to detect much, it tastes like a beer, but not much more. Light bread, lemon rind, salt, whole wheat bread lingers in the finish, w/ a touch of faint grass.

M - Slightly bitter dry finish, light, crisp, lively carb

O - It is a good American Blonde ale, but nothing about this beer is Belgian except the head and carb. There are no Belgian esters or phenols in this at all. It is light, nice, refreshing, faint bready character, very subtle hop grass, light lemon and salt, with a crisp dry finish. As an American Blonde A-, as a Belgian anything D

I've had a fair amount of mediocre golden ales in my life, so we will see how this one goes, hopefully it will be better then the rest. Pours a pretty standard one finger head into my standard pint glass. The head is about half big bubbles and half small bubbles and is completely white. The bubbles look slightly soapy, not anywhere near what a adjunct lager would look like, but it has a few of those qualities to it. The head is lacing decent lacing throughout the glass. The color is maybe just a hair darker and a lager, slightly more orange than yellow. It is somewhat cloudy, which is good, it makes it not completely see through. The carbonation looks like it's way too high, but we will see when I drink it. Overall it doesn't look outstanding, we'll see how well the lacing sticks with this beer but overall it's not a fantastic look. I will say however that there is a nice layer of foam sitting on top of the body the isn't going anywhere, the head, for the most part though, is gone. The smell is pretty standard too, as far as my experience with golden ales go. This does not by any means mean that it is a good smell, it's not that great. A slight biscuity malt smell, maybe pale malts, slight slight hop smell. It is actually starting to smell a little better. It's starting to smell like it has some decent flavors in it, the malts and hops are becoming a little more prominent on the smell. It smells pretty sweet, and overall it smells a lot more boring, rather than crisp and refreshing. It's not a terrible smell, but it is just barely getting a 3.5, initially I was going to give it a 3. Taste almost exactly like an adjunct lager to me, at least on my first taste. Very bland taste, full mouthfeel, pretty much mostly malt, slight slight hop taste (which is maybe the only real difference between it being an adjunct lager). Kind of an interesting taste really tho. On some tastes I am getting some hints of honey, small malt on some tastes, and big malt on other tastes. Small alcohol kick on some tastes, small hop note on most every taste. Kinda different every time, but if I were to recognize the most prominent tastes, they would be....well, now they actually would be malt and honey. I'm not getting very much hops anymore, this beer is changing a lot! This beer still isn't all that great, but it just might barely get a 3.5 on taste. I might be grading it too high, in fact I'm pretty sure that I am, but it's just barely good enough to get a 3.5. The mouthfeel is probably the best part of this beer, on some sips the body is a little thin and watery, but on most of my tastes the body is very full and it really expands in your mouth. The carbonation is also right where it should be, so I guess I was wrong there. It finishes somewhat dry, but by no means terrible. Overall a dang good mouthfeel. The drinkability isn't too bad, it's pretty light, so it's not hard to put away, the taste could be better, but it's still not hard to drink. Overall this probably doesn't deserve a B (I just checked, that's what it's going to get with the grades I gave it). It really deserves a B-, but the grades are what they are, and as much as I would love to change one of them to make the letter grade more accurate, I wont this time. Overall, pretty average beer.

Thanks for the Market of Choice for stocking this beer. This is a Golden Ale brewed for the 100 year anniversary of EWEB (Eugene Water and Electric Board) On the label it states, "To commemorate EWEB's 100th Anniversary of providing healthy clean water, all Ninkasi profits from this beer go to support the McKenzie River Trust." So if you like that kind of stuff, I highly suggest trying this beer. On to the review. Drank from my Oregon Brewers Guild pint glass.

A: Very light golden orangish color, you could definitely see through it. Not much head, but a nice thin lacing throughout the glass. Tons and tons of carbonation bubbles flow nicely to the top.

S: Not much aroma to speak of. I could sense the malts, and a light hoppy aroma that blends well together.

T: Tastes like cascade hops, and some nice spicy notes.

M: Very thin, a little too watery, but goes down pretty smooth.

O: I'm not very impressed with this beer at all. I love Ninkasi and I appreciate all that they do for the local beer market, but I guess not everything can be as good as Tricerahops. I tried it once, that's probably good enough for me.
