Poured from bottle into shaker.

Three fingers off white head. Very dark color.

Strong rich robust smell. Coffee overpowers the nose.

Taste is a lot lighter than expected. Coffee bitterness and a bit tart.

Decent, but nothing special. Maybe I'm not a huge fan of Ninkasi

22oz bomber
A) Pours with a finger thick head that settles to a thin lacing on top and at the edge of the glass. Dark brown and reddish hued body. Thin sticky lacing on the glass on the drink down.
S) Smoky notes. Earthy. Yeasty.
T) Dark chocolate notes. Smoky. Some good doughy / bready flavors. Mild hop bite toward the finish.
M) Creamy. Smooth. Full body. Gritty feel throughout.
O). A decent porter. I'd definitely drink more.

Brown bomber purchased in January and stashed away until tonight. Poured into standard pint.

A: Completely opaque black with about a finger of khaki colored head that fell into a thick foam cap with a few bigger bubbles in the middle. Leaving good lacing.

S: Coffee and bittersweet chocolate notes right away. Well roasted is a phrase i would use to describe this one. A little digging and I can just pick out the hops. Smells like a tasty porter to me.

T: The coffee notes are more pronounced in the taste, the chocolate from the nose falls into the background. A bit more of the malt comes through as malted barley in when you taste it. The hops are very present but not super aggressive. They make the coffee taste a little bitter like it is really dark and they linger for a while. The taste never really leaves your mouth on from this one the roasty malt sticks to the back of the tongue even after the hop bitter fades. Before the bitter ends and after the chocolate dies off you get a little alcohol warming which is surprising considering the fairly strong flavor and average ABV of this one. I am a porter guy so I am bias but I would say this tastes quite good.

M: A little thin for a porter, it lacks the chew I look for in something pitch black but the taste makes up for it. Definitely not watery but more medium than full bodied.

O: Good porter when young better porter when 6 months old. Glad I squirreled away two bottles of this when I could. May come back for a second round in another couple months to see how it does then.

Edit: opened my last bottle tonight 9/28/12 to see how it tastes aged about 10 months.
a: minimal khaki head now and a more sparse cap, leaving less lacing than before.
s: smells about the same
t: the hops seem a bit more pronounced than I remember still good coffee notes.
m: still a bit thin but good as before
o: a little hoppier but too much more age and this would fade too and be bland. 9months seems about right.

Thanks to beertunes for this one.

A: 1/2" tan coloured head that left a nice lacing over black/cola coloured liquid.

S: Roasted barley, toasted malt, coffee and caramel.

T: Bitter toasted malt, roasted barley, and some coffee flavour in the finish.

M: Dry and bitter with a thin viscosity and medium to low level of fine carbonation.

O: The taste could be improved with more sweetness or caramel malt flavours as it is a fairly bitter porter. That being said, it is quite drinkable.
