An okay tap list mixed with decent pub food. I'll stop by for a Guinness every once in awhile.

Downtown Westerville has some promising new brewpubs on the horizon. Old Bag will need to step up their game a little.

Sure, Westerville was a dry town up until very recently. And yes, having a pub in town is great. But there is no way you can rate the Old Bag of Nails Westerville as an "outstanding" establishment.

Their beer selection is average-to-poor, with less than 10 taps of boring offerings. My wife and I had a Goose Island Honkers Ale because it was the only enticing craft beer on tap. Next to it, it would have been Sam Adams. Not kidding! What's cool is that they serve their beers in huge pints for under $6. I swear those glasses were bigger than Imperial pints!! :-)

Atmosphere is alright, just an Irish-style pub with lots of wood around. Service was very good, can't complain there. Very attentive!

Food... pub food. We had the fried pickles, which were tasty.

So! You could say that, for Westerville, this is *the* place to go for beer. But really, Mellow Mushroom in Polaris is only 10 minutes away by car and has an awesome beer selection.

There's no reason for a true beer-lover to come here, unless you are a carless student at Otterbein. That would be the only excuse. :-)

Can't add much to what Dogbrick already stated about the history of Westerville being the "dry capital of the world". That being said, I grew up in this town and the current location used to be an old quilt shop. So, the fact that I'm sitting in an old quilt shop in my hometown that used to be dry and I'm enjoying a GLBC Burning River is quite a surreal experience.

Anyway, the pub is a typical "Old Bag" experience. The decor is slightly newer and brighter than some of the other locations. The food, beer selection, and service is good and typical of the other locations.

If you can, get a seat near the window and you can get a great view of Uptown Westerville from the corner of State St. and Main St. Pretty cool.

This is my favorite one but only because I'm a "homer" reviewing this. I'm sure most will stick to the Worthington location as the "gold standard" but this will be my first choice from now on.

Having an Old Bag of Nails open up in downtown Westerville is a coup for beer drinkers. Westerville, formerly home of the Anti-Saloon League, had been "dry" for over 100 years and was known as "dry capital of the world". So having a pub at all would be great, but scoring an Old Bag of Nails is a dream come true.

Parking is pretty tough no matter what time you visit. There is street parking all around and a couple small lots but they fill up fast.

The interior is similar to other locations. The left side is restaurant seating, while the right is the bar. There is breweriana all around, as well as an eclectic selection of knicknacks. The bar is all along the right side and has a nice view of the street.

The beer selection is good. There are around 10 taps with goodies like Hoster Gold Top and a Leinenkugel beer renamed to "Old Bag of Ale". As for bottles, there is a good representation of domestic and imported. Great Lakes, Sierra Nevada, Young's, Sam Smiths etc.

Service is good as usual. Old Bag hires people that know beer. Aside from my Hoster's being served in a frosted glass everything was great service-wise.

The food is excellent here. I had the Patty Melt and it was great, and I am sure the fish and chips is world class as it is at every other location.

As mentioned before, Westerville is better for having this place open now. Beer drinkers in the area rejoice!
