UPDATE!!! Dec.5/14
I called them to talk and what an arrogant ahole the manager was on the phone. Unbelievable really. Such an ahole that I am willing to change my review. Will never go there again. All I did was ask if he had stock on a particular beer. Proceeds to get short and mouthy then starts speaking with others while I'm on the phone after than starts yelling and so on. Last time I was there was a $200.00 plus bill. NEVER again. Will go to a gas station before I go here.
Arrogant and rude. Poor combination for a proprietor.
Pretty good selection of alcohol in general. Wine galore.
6 one side racks (or 3 racks you can access from both sides if you like) of beer. Very expensive by Canada's standards believe it or not! Good selection though.

My buddies and I visited yesterday all the way from Vancouver, BC. You never really know what to expect based off reviews and pictures, but this place sure didn't disappoint. What a treat! The selection was great as we were able to fill about 4 different mixed 6 packs of stuff we could never find back home: Bells, Founders, Shorts, Odd Side, Great Lakes....unreal.
Once we finished with the singles, we made our way to the rest of beer and wine, and again, we were blown away with the selection and value.
The service was great as well. Lots of help when we needed it, and were even sent away with a few 'special treats' from Michael the beer guy. Unexpected, but very appreciated.
What a great store!

I have shopped at Champanes for few years, great selection of beers at the best prices around the metro Detroit area, single bottles are available in coolers towards the front of the store, the six packs are displayed in the North West corner of the store, people are friendly and try to help you find what you need, Michael 'The Beer Guy' is always helpful.
Champanes carries lots of wine and other adult drinks, Dean, Dave and the rest of the crew are very helpful in selecting a drink for a occasion or for a specific purpose, I highly recommend this store.

(Visited 08/2011): Champane’s is located on the north side of Warren on Chicago Rd. There is a large lot out front.
The interior is large and open, and the beer selection is mainly in the rear of the store but there is a cooler full of singles at the front of the store.
The main selection (several hundred) is in aisles and there is a solid array of craft brewers represented both from Michigan and from across the country. Founders, Shorts, North Peak, Arbor, Dark Horse etc along with Anchor, Great Lakes, Rogue and many more. Imports from Oud Beersel, Mikkeller and the like.
Service at Champane’s is pretty good. Everyone was friendly and I was asked if I needed help finding anything.
Overall this is a very good spot to hit in the Royal Oak/Warren area.

Went in recently on a trip to see Kuhnhenn and Dragonmead and was astonished at the prices more than anything. The selection was very solid, especially in regards to Mikkeller offerings that are seldom seen elsewhere, but I can't think of anything I saw at this store that costed less elsewhere. I was in constant amazement. The layout was nice and was sorted in regards to brewery which made browsing quite easy. The aisles were also nice and fairly spacious which made it comfortable too.
The customer service was quite nice as (Michael? I believe) was able to find some Backwoods bastard from the back, and he also mentioned the potential to hold special releases if calling in ahead. He also offered me a bottle of the DFH Pearl Jam collaboration as well which they only received a case of.
All in all it was a very positive experience, and due to the incredible pricing, I'm sure this will be my first option. The fact that the selection was solid was icing on the cake. I can't imagine many old beers accumulating here with the prices as well.
This place is highly recommended, and the gas it takes to get here from any other store in Warren is likely to be saved from the prices on beer if not more. I've only been here once, but I'll update this if any of my next experiences are less than how great my first was.

We stopped there at the beginning of our trip michigan trip so we didn't buy too much. Huge selection with very good prices. Michael was nice enough to let us buy a Blushing Monk when most store were sold out and keeping for regular customers. Excellent customer service, this guy knows how to manage a store! Next time we get there, we'll buy most of our beers there. And like some said, the glasses are ridiculously inexpensive. On a funny note, Unibroue's glass are 3 times the price in Quebec.

Since I visit Champane's frequently, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to write my first review.
Simply put, the prices at Champane's are unmatched in SE Michigan. The selection is excellent & Michael, who runs the beer area, is a wealth of knowledge & very approachable. They do a nice job of trying to limit purchases of limited releases so that everyone gets a chance to buy some of those items when they do get released.
Did I mention the prices cannot be beat? And it's not even close...

This place might have been the best place I've been to as far as the selection of imports. Still I was never approached for help, many micros of Michigan were nowhere to be found (maybe sold out), and the singles selection as far as 12 oz. bottles was limited. Service was virtually non-existent, but I managed around ok. Costs seemed to be ok, if not a little higher than normal but that seems the general rule in Wisconsin cost vs. Michigan cost. If I was in the area, I would definitely go back again for the import selection and hope that the local selection improves.

Love the selection, prices and the events that they put on for beer or wine. Nobody around can touch their prices for beer and they typically have good sales/specials on the wine. I buy more beer than wine, but stock up on both at this store only. This is a great place and you will find exactly what you are looking for, or they will help you find it. They are also very helpful when looking for a new release, limited quantity, etc., they frequently put things on hold for me when I know its going to go quickly. The tastings and events are also very reasonably priced.

The best place to but beer in Michigan. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. The carry the widest range of beer including hard to find and limited Michigan brews. They are never over priced. They clearly outsell any other store however due to the fact that they do NOT over price their beer they sell out before anyone else even with a high volume. The 1st place I go for beer. Be aware you can not wait to buy limited beers such as Bourbon County, Nemesis, Oracle, KBS.. you get the hint. Other stores may have supply for longer, that is simply because they charge double what Champagnes does.

Made a run up there on a recent business trip to Toledo. Not a bad drive, but worth the trip. Very nice selection, including some Dragonmead bottled beers. A little thin on belgians and other imports, but very nice domestic selection (Bells, Harpoon, Shorts, to name a few). 2+ cases of beer for about $160, mostly bombers, and three 4-packs (Harpoon Leviathon series, and 2 Dragonmead packs).
Beer selection tucked away far in the back corner of store.
Didn't ask for help, and not many employees roaming around to help. But most seemed friendly, if needed.
Prices were good and seemed on par for the area. Definitely worth the trip.
