Bottle > Tulip Glass
A - Pitch black with a nice two finger tan head, little lacing
S - Very dark and roasty, some smokey char to it, hints of dark fruits, toasted caramel.
T - Great flavor, chocolate, toasted caramel, almost like a chocolate cake, slight earthy bitterness in the finish.
M - Kinda thin which is surprising, but still a little silky smooth, just wish it felt bigger.
O - Really great beer out of Sweden, Would definitely like to have this again.

Best before 2017.
Pours a motor oil color, head is small though. Taste is very ashy with anise and harsh. Very uneven with not much flavor depth. Better at room temp but a miss for an RIS.

Enojoyed late february in bottle purchased from local LCBO. Pours dark brown with slight amber hue and minimal head which quickly dissipates after first sip. Hints of wild berries and chocolate in aroma and the slightest touch of smoke. Inviting feeling begging for another sip to truly uncover what this beer has to offer and quickly warms the recipient on delivery.
Overall an enjoyable beer but could have more pronounced characters for distinction

May have to try this one again, but, found it slightly disappointing. That said, still a good offering.

Cheers Sammy!!
Pours dark brown with a thin, dark-khaki head. Smells of dark chocolate and dark fruits, maybe a little coffee. Dark fruits are quit pronounced in the flavour, some decent sweetness to compliment the fruits but that all fades to a dry chocolate and roasty malt finish. Pretty full body, medium-low carbonation. Solid stuff from a brewery I haven't had the pleasure of sampling yet.

Poured from bottle, deep dark brown with very low beige head. Aroma murky with notes of dried fruit, dark bread, dates and herbs. Taste is compelx and sweet but with some bitterness. Very nice and enjoyable!

This beer pours a nice deep black with a minimal head. Sitting in the snifter it looks heavy and dense, thick and oily, but appealing. From the smell perspective I get that slightly metallic smell that I sometimes pick up on RIS beers. This takes away from the other lovely smells such as roasts, coffee, chocolate and licorice. The taste is roast, with dark fruits mixed in but a bit muddled behind the roasts and coffee. Mouthfeel is nice, good carbonation and medium feel, almost slick but just a bit shy.
All in all a good beer. This bottle has some time on it, as the "expiration date" was creeping up on Dec 17, 2014. I know this will be available again at my local liquor store...but I am not sure I will be purchasing it again.

330ml bottle into snifter. best before dec. 17, 2014. enjoyed late night on july 5, 2014
a: not actually pitch black as i would have expected. more like an opaque, deep chestnut brown with lots of floating particles. almost like a belgian dark ale. topped with a finger of quickly-dissipating khaki-coloured head. interesting
s: a very potent assault of prunes, raisins, cherries, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and licorice
t: prunes, plums, raisins, slight cherries and licorice up front, but with a surprisingly restrained sweetness. this quickly turns into flavours of smoky dark malts, dark chocolate, and fresh roasted coffee. lingering roasty flavours all the way to the end. finishes with a dry, cocoa nib-like bitterness
m: creamy medium mouthfeel, mild carbonation
o: a beer with strong and tasty flavours all around. i want another one

A: Black, mostly opaque, a little ruby tinge when held to the light, 3 fingers of tan head and nice random lacing.
S: Chocolate, licorice, cherries, pear, hazelnuts, nuttiness, walnuts, dark toasted notes, a little wood smoke.
T: Licorice, dark chocolate, cherries and pears, walnuts. Slightly bitter aftertaste.
M: Thick bready and syrupy body with medium low carbonation and a smooth finish.
O: A good Russian Imperial Stout from Sweden, and a cool bottle to boot with the bear paw. Interesting nuttiness for this style.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light roasted malt with some black chocolate notes is quite pleasant. Taste is also dominated by some roasted malt with light dry coffee notes and some black chocolate notes. Body is quite full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Easily drinkable for the style with just enough complexity to be interesting.

Purchased at the LCBO for $3.30 for a 330ml bottle. Served at 10deg C in pint glass
A- Pretty good. Opened well. Poured with a TON of head for a stout
S- Pretty good. Caramel, roasted malt and chocolate.
T- Not too bad. Nothing to wait on
M- Excellent! This beer's saving grace.
O- Not bad. Won't benefit from more aging so I have one more for the spring to drink!
Food Pairing
This ok stout paired well with... Lamb shank and root vegetables in a reduced red wine sauce.
Enjoy!
