Scotty's is a more mature sports bar/restaurant I'd say. Tvs playing games. Not terribly loud or anything. Kind of a cramped seating arrangement in some areas. The selection of beers on tap can be a bit limited. They've got their house options from the three wise men brewing, which can be fairly good. I like the pale ale quite a bit. They have several guest taps which are usually lower abv IPAs, or lagers, maybe something with some seasonality. Quality of the beers is fine. Seem to be well kept and clean lines. Food is great in my opinion, though the menu is giant. So picking something can be pretty tough if you've only just showed up for the first time. A lot of vegetarian options for my wife and I. The service is executed well, though not knowledgeably. They check on you well. But just know it's a restaurant first. I've ordered, for instance, a pumpkin beer in the fall to wind up with an IPA. Or ordered a second round of the same beer, they say 'great' come back and say it's gone. I understand mixed communications happen and taps do run out. But, the staff being educated on the beer is not something you want to expect. Overall, I like this place quite a bit as a restaurant. I like it less so as a beer destination, although you can drink some good beer there.

For a super loud sports bar, the food is phenomenal, and they have growler sales for beer on tap (they partner with Three Wisemen from Indianapolis)

One of my favorite places to go in west lafayette. The food is a little pricey but other then that it is a good place to eat if you want greasy food.
Also beer specials are pretty good deals, with at least on tuesdays being able to get a pitcher of fat tire or other select beers for 5$.

A- Nice and pretty lively. It is a little dark tho at night so can be a little bothersome to walk around. Lots of tvs up to watch the big game as well.

T- Good food, have only tried things that are bad for you though.

One of my favorite places to go for food and drink. People knock the food a bit, but it's pretty good for bar food. This is not a brewery, and pub food shouldn't be expected. But if you want a good burger or tenderloin, this is your place. I highly recommend their homemade BBQ sauce.

As for beer, it has some of the best selection in the area. I have not made it to Lafayette Brewing Company yet, but Scotty's is respectable. Every Thursday night is $3.50 pint night for any domestic micros and $2.50 pints if you want Coors or Miller. Wednesdays they have $9 micro pitchers. Their beer selection is pretty varied. For the fall/winter season they have a variety of Octoberfests as well as a couple of my favorites in Left Hand Milk Stout and Breckenridge Vanilla Porter. Other than seasonal they have a good choice of Three Floyds and some of People's brews out of Lafayette. Monday through Thursday they have half price appetizers, which are really good deals.

Service ranges greatly. Some of the bartenders know what they are talking about and will talk with you. A lot of the wait staff is college kids that don't know what they are recommending. I suggest going to the bar for the best opinions.

Overall, I love Scotty's. It has a decent variety and isn't too pricey. Plus, I usually know what I want to drink going in so I don't rely on the wait staff.

This is probably the restaurant for a beer geek in the area. Honestly their food is not that impressive, your basic food you would find from almost any generic restaurant in the Midwest. But their beer list is much better then anything else in West Lafayette. They have a decent number of beers on tap and a decent size bottle list. Its not a huge list but it is diverse and features a good staple of local breweries. As a warning make sure you don't order desert if you have any special request, because it is a generic box desert and they can't change it. I never had any problem with the service I received while there, but don't expect any of the severs to talk about beer. Overall its a decent place to eat and you can find a good beer to enjoy while you eat.

This is actually not a Brewhouse, like you'd think. Scotty's actual brewhouse is called "Thr3e Wisemen" and is located in Broad Ripple in Indianapolis. This restaurant is one of the best places to eat while visiting Purdue and it gets a lot of traffic on weekends and on gamedays. That can make the wait a little long or make the place a little loud but it is a hotspot in a college town. They have good deals on mixed drink pitchers and margaritas. Most importantly, they have a pretty extensive beer list. They get all of Bell's and Founders releases as well as most of Indiana's bigger name craft beers. They also have Stone and Rogue from time to time. I haven't been disappointed once. I recommend trying one of their wraps, namely Luke's Cajun wrap. It's amazing. This is a very good restaurant to stop by for lunch.

After going here plenty of times I throughout my Boilermaker experience I felt that I should do this place some justice and review it. As many before have stated this place is NOT a brew pub. That having been said it has the decor of a Friday's or Applebee's, nothing impressive. Everything is of quality, but as I've stated nothing overall was impressive. The service depended on who you got. Some times it was pretty good and sometimes it was lousy, but then again that's kinda what I expect at most places I go. The problem here is the servers have no idea as to the types of beer that they have or what to recommend. The selection at this place was pretty decent as far as bars were concerned in the area. I recall Arogant Bastard being on tap a couple of times. Depending on what night you went depended on how much you spent if all you were going for is beer. Wednesday and Thursday were usually the cheap nights to go. The food was pretty good, assuming you like burgers or chicken wraps. I know I'm oversimplifying it, but that's pretty much what you had the choice of, just spiced in different ways. They were good burgers, just that was all you pretty much could expect from the place. Overall, it's not a bad place.

Stopped in for a couple beers just in passing. I am not a fan of family/burger/sports bar chains so the atmosphere didn't do much for me. The beer drinking experience however was really not bad. I had a couple big glasses of my Three Floyds favorites - Alpha King and Gumballhead. Saw a couple more things that I could have enjoyed if the money hadn't given out. Didn't try the food, but the menu looked very familiar.

I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but this Scotty's could fill a niche for me. Decent beer, easy parking, closer than crossing the river to Lafayette if you are starting from Purdue's campus and if you run with the chicken fingers and salad crowd this place works fine.

Scotty's is a great place to take my girlfriend. Its got great food and plenty of fruity cocktials for her and a pretty good selection of beer for me. Plus its pricey, and everybody knows only expensive food can taste good on a date. Their beer choices vary based on season and whats "in." They also have some nice deals on beer. My favorite is available anyday and gets you 4 4oz glasses of any of their beers for around 5 bucks! Its a great deal and makes each meal a small flight. Plus, if you know your beers you can stack together a good 16oz of high gravity brews and lessen the shock of the bill.

This is NOT a brewery! As some have found out the hard way. Its just a high dollar burger joint that has a good amount of beer. The look of the building even hints at being a brewery but its not. Its just a beer bar.

I still harbor some ill will with this place. We went here after an Iowa game up on Purdue's campus. While obviously I was disappointed with the lack of this being a proper brewhouse, it was only amplified by the poor selection.

THis is where it went sour: my group was told that we would no longer be served beers due to the amount we drank. 5 guys, 3 pitchers, was too much for them. We were shown the door. It doesn't matter that this was over 2 hours. It doesn't matter that we were sober and behaving normally.

I have no idea what bone they had to pick with us that night, but we were not welcome guests in this place. Combine that with the lameness that the place represents in the first place, it makes certain I won't be back. Now when I'm in town for a game I go to Chumleys.

Scotty's brewhouse

First and for most it's a chain. They have some in indy and bloomington as well pretty sure. Its not a brewhouse so don't get your hopes up. I know the guy who does the beer ordering their and he's an aspiring beer nerd. He's making a strong effort to put some good things on tap, he's just always been a bit too late. You can always find two hearted, SN pale, ...etc. Nothing really crazy or stand out. They also have been trying to carry more local brew's from the new up and coming people's brew co. I think they have their IPA on tap currently as of 2/10/10. It's not a great place for beer but the food is decent and the people are usually friendly. Just not a place for beer geeks and BA's.

Finally gave this place a try during a visit to Purdue for Grand Prix week. I was a little dismayed to find out that Scotty's is not actually a brewhouse, so much as a "house" that serves brews, along with their food. Beyond this, the place is similar to a Chili's style chain restaurant. It was a tad busy when my friends and I went, but it wasn't too bad. The server was quite personable and knew a decent amount about the beers they offered (including Arrogant Bastard, which can be gotten in mugs for pretty cheap, all things considered). I settled on a local black lager, which was on clearance: not bad, especially for the price. The food was pretty durn good, with the prices fair. Overall, this place isn't amazing in terms of beer, but if you want a good place sit, have a nice meal, and knock a couple back, this is a good place to try. Boiler up!

Thought this was the brewery, but it's just a place that uses "brew" in their name. Can't say I much care for that. They also make their beer list look a lot bigger than it actually is by including a bunch of Guinness mixes. But, hey, it was there and they had wifi so whatever.

Atmosphere is like a really nice Applebee's. Sadly, Applebee's can only get so nice.

The menu was a like a phonebook. If you like burgers, this is your joint. But, like Applebee'ses, there's only so much you can get out of a burger. Lots of fried stuff. Lots of dishes with all kinds of superfluous cheese.

Tap menu is... well, it's hard for me to say, since I'm not from the area. They had Hopslam on tap, along with your basics FFF, Founders, Bells, and GI. It seemed good to me. Nothing made me cry with joy, but there was a beer for every mood. Additionally, all pints save for Hopslam were 2.50 all Thursday, and that's a damn fine special.

I don't got much to say, because there wasn't that much going on. A decent beer selection with solid food and good service. There's no real character to the place, but there's nothing offputting. Nothing work seeking out, but solid.

Scotty's is first and foremost a casual restaurant like TGI Friday's or Applebee's. The food is good, and there are lots of spicy options, which is a plus for me. Prices are pretty average - around $7 for a burger or sandwich with fries. They do like to nickel and dime you, though; a side of hot sauce or cheese on your fries will cost $2.

Beer prices probably aren't too bad on average but are high compared to other local bars; domestic pints are $4 regularly and some microbrews can run upwards of $6. Wednesday "pitcher nights" are the exception, with Coors Light and Killian's pitchers for $2.50 and anything else for $5. The selection is pretty good, with about 20 quality taps in addition to the usual offerings.

Service has been variable in my experience, the staff are generally helpful but the restaurant can be understaffed. On the whole, Scotty's is a good place to have a better-than-average beer with your meal, but not a "beer bar", especially with Chumley's and LBC so close.

Scotty's Brewhouse is a local Indiana chain with a few locations throughout the state. I have been to Scotty's several times for lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is pretty nice, a little on the cheesy, Office Space "flair" side. The service is very attentive and personable, but not necessarily beer experts. The food is above average and the portions are big.

The beer selction is good, both on tap and in bottles, but not the best in the area. Like others have said, this place is a restaurant with a good beer selection, not a beer bar that serves food. If you are going out with friends, this is a great place to eat and still be able to drink good beer. If you are going out solely for the beer, walk across the bridge to Chumley's or the Lafayette Brewing Company.
