This has been a Broadway staple for years - formerly Aidan's Pub. It's a fairly popular spot, but I think I number among the few that's never been terribly impressed. For me, the selection is lackluster (compared to places like Pour Judgement and Norey's, which are within walking distance) and many of the other restaurants/bars feature better fare as well. Not a bad spot, but I'd skip this one and head to one of the other spots down the street.

The Fastnet has been going strong in Newport now for years since it was last Aidan's and I can't tell you I miss anything from its former incarnation. They always have pints of seasonal beers like UFO Pumpkin, Harpoon Winter Warmer, Newport Storm Blueberry, and Sam Adams Seasonal. And then my favorite draughts there are the Rogue Dead Guy and Kilkenny.

Thursday is a great time because a local running club, "Newport Run & Chug", mobs the place and provides loads of thirsty runners even in the dead of winter. If you're looking to run or just hang out then stop by and make new friends.

Sunday night they host musicians for what they call the "Traditional Irish Session".

Decent pub. Formerly Aidans. Located right above downtown Newport, a block or so to the main stroll. Still a nice place as long as it's not too crowded. Good darts and billiards. Pints are standard $5. Local offerings, long trail, harpoon, sam adams, newport storm, cape ann's... Sure to find something you'll like.

Last time I was here they had promo girls from some rum, Biccardi I think.

My only real complaint- limited space and poor air ventilation. If it's hot outside, it's a sweatlodge inside the bar.

Great location, decent prices, a few good pints to be had.

Located at the end of Broadway, in Newport. Formerly Aiden's pub. They pour a decent Guinness. Other tap selections include Harp, Boddington's, Newport Storm, Sierra Nevada, and a cider. There is a decent rotation on the tap selecttion.

The "Fastnet" was better when it was Aiden's pub. It used to have the feel of a real Irish pub. Now it is empty most of the time and sort of a downer. Most of the wait staff and the clientele appear to have moved over to Busker's on upper Thames, which retains more of the old feel.
