Had on tap. Pours clear, copper in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is toasted malt and caramel. Sweet with moderate carbonation and body. Solid, straightforward red ale. Above average that keeps me interested in the brewery.

Pours a dark red/brown body with a two finger white foamy head, foamy lacing is left in the wake but spider webs adequately; smell has a sharp sweet caramel (whoah, interesting, wasn’t expecting that), slightly herbal and earthy; the taste is very sweet, perhaps a bit over the top on the sweetness level, deep caramel yet also a weird plum aftertaste (weird, not sure how desirable this is, at least to me), dry finish; palate is light to medium, somewhat sessionable, carbonation seems ok for the style and good for me; overall: a very caramel forward American Amber/Red Ale, wow, holy caramel beer, not sure if I would have this again.

Appearance: deep blood red color. two fingers of a tan head that fades slowly and leaves behind a lacing. opaque and dark color

Smell: sweet caramel tending towards dark fruits. and a strong toasty malt base. slight herbal hop note

Taste: opens with slight dark fruits and a big burst of caramel sweetness. transitions to a strong and grainy, toasty malt character, ends on a slightly bitter herbal hop note

Mouthfeel: good medium body and no stickiness not cloying sweetness or lingering bitterness.

Overall: one of the better non-imperial reds out there. great balance on the sweetness and lots of good and complex flavors for the style

Appearance is ruddy light brown with a tan creamy head leaving scattered, foamy lace.

Smell is sweet caramel, herbal hops, damp grass.

Taste is also rather sweet, a little grainy, slight acridness, almost porter light, with nuanced chocolate. Nice robust amber if you not looking for much hop wise, as the bitterness is moderate, and the grassy flavor modest.

Mouthfeel is slippery, on the light side.

Drinkability is ok. It's light, and cleanly strong. There is some subtle complexity, but it's dominated by sugar and grass, which I don't love.

Into a shaker at my Dad's, who just returned from Alaska.
A: deep dark reddish Amber, with a 1 finger dark khaki head and slight lacing.
S: big caramel bready malt bomb
T&M: starts easy and inviting, but by mid taste it is pretty substantial, close to heavy, malty sweet, with a little hoppy piney bite that tries to prevent the whole thing from becoming cloying. Under carbonated.

I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance was basically red and it had a one and a half finger white foamy head that died within about a minute. There was some light lacing.
The smell was roasty and malty with a fairly light dark fruitiness I think.
The taste was basically roasty and somewhat sweet malty based.
The mouthfeel, I guess was smooth and gently rolling somewhat softly over my tongue.
Overall, for the most part, not a bad red ale I'm just unsure if I would seek it out again.
