This is a very large grocery store, at least for the area. Selection does include a large cooler space for B/M/C, but that section is towards the rear of the store.

All the regular Duck Rabbit, Big Boss, and Carolina beers in stock, making this a good stop for local beers. Good selection of DFH, North Coast, and Bell's as well. No 12 oz singles available and only a few bombers.

If you are stuck in Cary and can't make it to Raleigh or Durham, then this HT and the Whole Foods across the street make for a good 1-2 punch.

While on a reconnaisance trip to the Cary area I decided to stop by this Harris Teeter, which is quite new, to see what their beer selection was like. Now, just as background, the HT a few blocks north of my house doesn't have much of a selection, although their prices are good. This is what I expected to find.

First, there is a huge selection of macro-lagers. I'd say nearly 50% of the total volume is of this variety. (I'm still surprised by the need to carry every possible variety of B/M/C.) Most of these were in the large 18-24 pack containers.

Second, their micros included Magic Hat, Cottonwood, Saranac, Sierra Nevada, Highland, Redbridge (AB's gluten-free beer), lots of Sam Adams, Dogfish Head, Mendocino, and DuckRabbit. These are the highlights; there is more to be found.

As to single bottles, I ran across Chimay, Ommegang (Three Philosophers, in particular), Wychwood, Rogue's Dead guy Ale, Franziskaner, and Bro. Thelonius, among others.

I was pleasantly surprised by this selection, and the prices are in line with other area establishments.

This Harris Teeter has been there forever near the intersection of 64 and Kildare Farms. A breeze to get to off 64 or US1.

The selection is pretty darn good for a grocery store with a long beer section of coolers and quite a few micro offerings and some Belgians from which to choose. The beer aisle is to the left inside the store so entry near the coffee shop might be best if making a beer run.

The service is pure grocery store, meaning none whatsoever. Since for the most part the beer is all refridgerated the quality is pretty good. Be sure to check dates on anything you suspect may be past it's prime.

Certainly not a destination store, but if in the area and in need of beer, give it a whirl.

quality: Harris Teeters in general seem to usually have a decent rotation. I checked the dates on a few of the beers that were dated, and everything checked out.

service: I mean, it's Harris Teeter.

selection: Quite a surprising selection for a Harris Teeter. Some things I recall: Flying Dog Gonzo, the Ommegang line, most North Carolina breweries represented well (Carolina Brewing Company, Highland, Duck Rabbit), Mendocino beers, and quite a few more...more than enough to warrant a beerfly. I need to stop back in so I can list more of the available beers here.
