Very nice selection of beer. Best place for Pick 6, in Hattiesburg, hands down.

Stopped by one time on the way to Destin, FL. It had a very nice and large selection of beer. I recommend Southern Prohibition. It is a very good local brewery with a solid selection of yummy beers.

So after visiting Hattiesburg many times in the last few years I finally decided to stop into The Corner Market today to pick up a six pack.

(Keep in mind this review is done from the point of view that Miss craft beer scene is very young and pretty small still, it would not be fair to compare it to a store say in San Diego)

For a beer person this is the place to shop for beer to buy in package form in Hattiesburg, hands down.

When you walk in it has the feel and look of a typical small Miss town grocery store. My first thought was no way there will be a decent beer selection. I was wrong. After you walk in turn left and to the far front corner. The beer section is about 200 sq ft, big for a Miss store. The pick six section has alot of variety, you will find something to like here. I have seen less beer selection in the Super Wal-mart say in Madison.

So if you are passing through Hattiesburg for the night, stop by Keg and Barrel to go out for beer and food, or stop by The Corner Market if you are tired from traveling and just want to veg out in the hotel room for the night while trying some local beer.

The first pick six place in town, and stocks a good selection of premium bombers and four-packs; however, they are totally without knowledge about beer. The distributors do all the work, so you have to make an effort to find the good stuff, which tends to get buried around corners and in the back.

Some people take advantage of the pick six and cannibalize from right off the shelf. This can really screw the honest beer purchaser. Caveat emptor- your specialty four pack can be filled with something other than you expected (especially prevalent with Lazy Magnolia, because their six packs cost $8.99, and the pick six is $7.99, and the Lazy Mag seasonals come in four packs at $10.99).

This is a shame, but the Roberts company has not prioritized beer. This is as close as we're going to get to a bottle shop in Hattiesburg, though.

My go-to place for beer in Hattiesburg. Being from beer deprived Mississippi, the Corner Market has about the best selection of take home beer in town. They keep a pretty good rotation going, and you tend to see staples like Sierra Nevada, Anchor, Flying Dog and our home state brew, Lazy Magnolia. They usually have a pretty decent selection of LM Party Pigs, and the price on these are well withing reason, around $30 plus tax. The beauty of Corner Market is the build your own six pack for $7.99. This is real nice for when you just want to mix things up a bit. Overall, I enjoy my experiences at the Corner Market, and the fact that it is only a half a mile from my house makes it all the better.

Back when I lived in Hattiesburg, this was the one place I would go for beer. There literally was not a store that offered as much as Corner Market.

Now that I live in New England, however, I am spoiled with libraries of beer. But for the sake of those who are limited to the Hattiesburg area, I'd say Corner Market is your best bet.

It's selection is limited, mostly popular micros (Abita, Rogue, Flying Dog, Anchor, Sierra Nevada, Sam Adams, etc.) and a decent selection of imports (Warsteiner, Guinness's line, Hoegaarden, etc.) - they also usually carry a few party pigs of Lazy Magnolia. But what makes it unique is they sold everything in singles. Building your own six-pack allows people who enjoy trying new things a great way to explore what little Corner Market has to offer; it makes a small selection suddenly versatile and wide open to various possibilities.

I also enjoyed the low prices that Corner Market has. So if you are in the area, and are looking for more than a case of Killians, check out Corner Market. You might be surprised by what they have to offer.

Best place for buying beer in Hattiesburg. Starting to see some different things showing up. Build your own six pack is worth while, especially if you are trying something for the first time. The cost for the build your own is 8$ while some of the 6 packs are over 9$ (you would make out by just creating a sixpack of the Rogues they have that day). Was hoping they would price Abita a bit cheaper (Thirsty Hippo has 3 or 4 Abitas on top for about the same as what you buy per bottle at the grocery stores).

May be the best place in Hattiesburg to buy beer. They offer a great selection with the ability to build your own Mix Pack Six Pack out of most every beer the the carry. If anyone is looking for beer in Hattiesburg, this should be the first stop. Hopefully when the law changes and we get an increase from 6% by volume / 5% by weight for the state, The Corner Market will follow by carrying a grand assortment of higher gravity craft beers. Still, in Hattiesburg this should be your first stop when looking for beer.

The Corner Market has arguably the best bottled beer selection in Hattiesburg. All the beer is in the front right corner of the store, with the majority of it on the cooler shelves. Turnover on macro and popular craft beers is high enough, but if you're buying something hoppy (especially Flying Dog or Anchor Liberty), grab from the back, as those might've been there a while. Service is as expected for a grocery store, though the manager was very nice when I asked if they could get Flying Dog Snake Dog IPA (which they did, after a few months). Selection is as good as it gets, given our horrible alcohol cap (6%) and equally lazy distributors. We've got Flying Dog amber, wheat, pale ale, IPA, and golden lager; Rogue American Amber, Mocha Porter, and St. Rogue Red Ale; Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Wheat; Abita Turbodog, Amber, Purple Haze, and seasonal; Anchor Steam, Liberty, and Porter; Paulaner, Spaten, some Sam Adams, etc. They also usually have Lazy Magnolia party pigs, and they always have LM Southern Pecan in bottles. The only beers that they could get and don't are the Rogue bombers and Lindemann's lambics. Being able to make a mixed six pack is nice, and the prices are very reasonable ($7.50-$10 per sixer).

This Corner Market always has the best selection in MS (below 6.0% ABV). They are generally the first store in MS to get the new seasonal offerings, so I always make it point to stop by and see what is new. And I never stop by without finding something new. Franziskaner Hefe-Weizen, Paulaner, Spaten Oktoberfest- good German selection.

Their best offering is create-your-own six pack for $7.59 or $7.99- I can't remember, I just pay the clerk.

Their sixer, 12 pack, and case prices are fair.

If you are in the area, stop by.

Whenever I make the 70-mile drive north to Hattiesburg to visit my brother, I always stop in the Corner Market because of their good (for Mississippi) beer selection. The have about 4 of the Rogue beers (Dead Guy, Mocha Porter, American Amber, St Rogue Red),3 or 4 from Paulaner (Hefe, Octoberfest, Premium Pils, etc) and Red Hook, several from Sam Adams, 2 to 3 from both Anchor and Sierra Nevada, Franziskaner, Pilsner Urquell, 4 to 5 from Flying Dog and Black Dog, Spaten, 4 or so from Abita, Lazy Magnolia offerings, 3 or 4 of the Shiner Beers, and all the ubiquitous imports like Guinness, Newcastle, etc. They also allow you to mix your six-packs for $7.99 which isnt too bad. They always seem to have added something new whenever I go there.

I was driving down to Biloxi and thought that I would take a differenet route so that I could check out this store. When I pulled up to the store front and started to walk in the door I did not have a good feeling. I felt better when I saw the beer selection. I picked up six beer that I had not tried for under nind dollars. They carry 3 or 4 of the Lazy Magnolia beers but they are in the large party pigs, which was begger then what I was looking for. Of the beer that I have had so far, the beers taste fine, no off flavors from old beer or UV damage.

This place is an oasis in the beer desert that is Mississippi. Great selection considering there's only a handful of gas stations in the area that have micros. I stopped by on the way to my parents in Wiggins and was very impressed. I plan on making the corner market a regular stop on my next visits back home. The fact that you can mix singles makes it especially nice so you can try out as many varieties as you like. My current goal is to ween some relatives off of miller lite and help them realize that the weird metallic taste is not normal although that may only be from the aluminum cans, but different strokes for different folks i guess.

As an aside its also nice to see the return of a local grocery under the reign of walmart, not to sound anti-walmart.

This really is the best grocery store in the Hattiesburg area to find a decent selection of beer. The Petal Corner Market (where I used to work) actually has a bigger selection, but is a good 30-minute drive from my house.

If you can't find something that you want, they can try to order it for you, but as previously mentioned, it can be really hard to get certain types of beer in Mississippi.

They have several styles of Rogue and Sam Adams. In addition, there are also various types of Lazy Magnolia Party Pigs.
This is probably the only store in Hattiesburg that has a halfway-decent selection of beer.

I used to be the assistant manager of the Corner Market in Hattiesburg. During my stint at the store, we constantly tried to expand our inventory (however limited by the 6% MS limit...) and always tried to help customers when it came to beer.
Overall, the store offers a great variety compared to the other stores in town. I find it interesting that neither Walmart nor the package stores ever have the same depth of stock. The Pick 6 program also gives consumers the ability to experiment and still pay a lower price than a comparable 6 pack.
Always a go-to store when you can't find just what you're looking for.

This is my establishment of choice for buying beer to take home. It’s basically a regular grocery store, but they tend to focus on more “exotic” or “gourmet”, for lack of a better word, items. You can find lots of things here that you can’t find at Sprawl-mart or other groceries. Their beer selection reflects this as well. As previously mentioned the best part is that in addition to a much larger then usual selection (for the area) you can mix and match your own sixer. They also have party pigs of Lazy Magnolia right on the shelf.

The Wife and I drive across town and pass a few other grocery stores to go to The Corner Market – mostly for the beer.

After searching around town for beer, i was informed that the corner market had the *best* and only decent selection of beer in town.

The beer is tucket away in the front left corner of the store and suprisingly has a decent selection (for miss.). They have several different beers from abita, including the 20th anniversary and restoration ale, sierra nevada wheat and pale ale, paulaner hefeweizen, spaten lager, several different from flying dog, fresh "mini keg" styles from lazy magnolia, sam adams, dinkel acker dunkel, etc.

Prices were about on par with what im used to seeing. One of the best things is that they have a single bottle section that includes everything they sell and any combonation of 6 beers is only 7.99.

EDIT: I dont know how i missed this but they also carry a few offerings from Rogue including mocha porter, st. red and dead guy (which is "illegal" at 6.5% in miss.)
