Old Chicago (Apple Valley, though) is the best place near where I used to live in Minnesota to get beer. Granted the atmosphere is chain-ish, but it is still a good place to meet up with friends. They used to have a deal where pints were I think $2.69 during their fairly long happy hours. But this changed to being $1 off. The draft beers aren't too bad but some of the bottles can get to be pricey. The service varies depending on when I go. They have good pizza and pretty good appetizers as well.

Went here to check out a UFC event. Pretty large place. The bar isn't very big, but there is ample seating. Nothing special about the decor though. They have a solid selection of brews with the highlight being Surly on tap. They have some other bottled beer as well to increase the number of craft and import offerings. Good service at the bar although there was only a couple of others seated there. Food was good. Pizza, pasta and sandwiches making up the majority of the menu. Not much else in the immediate area or south of here. Probably the furthest south you will find Surly on tap in the metro. Overall, a decent place.

Stopped here while in town on business. The place reminds me of a poorly decorated TGI Fridays. Pretty busy when I was there as it was the first day of the NFL season. The beer selection focused purely on quantity not quality. Nothing exciting, interesting or even a decent amount of local offering. The local offerings consisted of Surly (Furious) and Summit (Pale). The rest of the draft were BMC and thier offerings with a few german imports listed. The service was terrbile. We waited fifteen minutes to even be recognized by a waiter once we were seated. The food was average. Not good. Not bad. The prices were a bit high for what you get. I don't think I would stop back.

I've stopped in here a few times, most recently after a visit to Blue Max. I don't know what it is about this particular Old Chicago -maybe it's somethin' in the water? But everytime I go there I wonder why more of their many locations can't be more like this one. Is it me? Is it the momentary 'shopper's high' following a trip to Blue Max that puts me in such good spirits? I dunno, but I swear, every time I visit this place there's like fifty Suburban American Princesses givin' me the eye. Is it my trademark sideburns? My come-hither glare? Maybe, but I'm always flanked by one of my older (and gruffly-er*) drinking buddies, so I never can tell. Maybe it's the fact that there's always a good after-work crowd here, putting back some cold (but not too-cold) ones before karaoke and/or Twins games wrest their attention from both conversation and suds-topped mugs. Food here is average for the chain (free pizza on yer birthday is always cool : ), but I'd say that the service at this location is a notch above the rest. Maybe it's their atmosphere, being the happiest place in the strip mall. Beer selection -for whatever reason- always seems a notch up from other Old Chi locations in the TwinCities area as well, maybe due to the nexus of specialty beer at nearby retailers (Blue Max, Big Top, Cellars). Gotta admit, too, that I like the layout here better than other locations, mainly due to the fact that the bar and dining room are separate (I'm okay with kids in bars, but pizza parties? Keep 'em over there, this ain't Circus!), but there's something to be said for the physical space itself. Always worth stopping in for a couple when in the area.

*Gruff and surly . . . get it?

This is your typical Old Chicago nothing new here at all. The food is the same and the beer menu is pretty much the same as anyother Old Chicago in mn. The service here is not as good as the Apple Valley location. Atleast that has been my observation on my last few visits. The beer at any Old Chicago is a little but expensive I think. But it nice to see such a huge chain offering such a large beer menu. The food is good as it almost always is and again there is nothing different here than any other Old Chicago. Basically if your in the area and need a cold one quick I guess you could check this place out.
