Appearance - The beer poured a dark brown color that lightens when held to the light. Little carbonation is noted other than a slight tan head.

Smell - The Belgian notes were present, like buttery banana. The dark fig notes were also there.

Taste - in total, the Belgian yeast notes seem somewhat muted. Dark fruits, especially fig, are smooth and so tasty and a cold night. The overall sweetness was not cloying, but well balanced with the profile.

Mouthfeel - with little carbonation, the beer is smooth and close to being syrupy. The darker portions of the fruit allowed to cling to the back of the throat.

Overall - I sometimes forget how much I enjoy this beer. Under the circumstances of a cold night, this is great at room temperature.

Aged 1 year and poured into snifter:

Looks midnight purplish black with thin head that diminishes completely. Smell is of raisins and figs with flavors of chocolate, figs, raisins, and run that isn't overwhelming. Heavy medium mouthfeel with light carbonation. I would say this is great with a year on it and believe it can go another 5.

Bottled on 11/1/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a very dark brown; small khaki head that quickly fades leaving okay retention and little lacing. The aromas have lots of caramel, toffee and dark fruits. Raisins and fig is there along with some hints of black cherry. Lots of malts with some mild yeast aromas. The malts overpower the yeasts. The flavors follow the nose. More caramel and toffee leading the way with some cocoa in the mix. The raisins, plum and black cherry comes through. Strong malt backbone. The yeast notes are subtle. It's slightly sweet, but it's not cloying or anything to worry about. Mild warmth in the finish, but it's not hot or boozy at all. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate to low carbonation. It's slightly watery, but it's still smooth. Dangerously drinkable.

This is a nice brew. It doesn't really remind me of a quad and comes off more as a scotch ale, in my opinion. Despite not being the truest example of the style, it still has great aromas and flavors. Very enjoyable stuff.

Poured from 12oz into tulip, bottled on October 7th 2016.

L: Cloudy deep mahogany. . Thin beige head that fades into a ring.

S: Lots of esters and ripe dark fruit (FIGS). Quite an alcohol note. Brown sugar, raisins.

T: Lots of ripe fig, some brown sugar and raisins, some jam notes like homemade strawberry. Really surprised on flavor here. Some leafy hops. Really complex beer. Wow.

F: Medium body, medium carbonation, smooth for 10.5%, light dryness for a finish.

O: Was doubtful after the aroma was kind of over-washed with alcoholic fumes, however the taste is very complex and the mouthfeel is excellent.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a snifter

This beer pours a deep mahogany color with ruby highlights. It is topped with less than an inch of tan head that leaves no lacing.

The aroma is fig, dates, brown sugar, and raisin.

The taste is more focused on the figs. It has an earthy flavor with a little umami.

Medium mouthfeel with a low level of carbonation

Fig is a great fruit to add to a quad. I commonly smell and/taste fig in quads. It is a nice compliment.

Pours an enticingly cola color with no head and very lethargic carbonation.
Smells of clove, vanilla, banana, fruit cake, molasses, with some fruity esters, and yeastiness.
Wow, a lot going on here, caramel, brown sugar, jam, date cake, ending in a bitterness from the esters and some subdued leafy hops, some heat, but hidden well.
Mouthfeel is rich, certainly on the upper side of moderate with little carbonation anywhere.
Overall, fantastically complex, and especially given the price(3.19), and the abv(11.5%), this is a lot for your money friends.

A - Pours a dark mahogany with a one finger off white head. Very light soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is plums, figs, raisins and brown sugar.

T - The taste follows the aroma. Raisins, prunes, figs, plums and brown sugar with a light peppery finish.

M - Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel with dry finish.

O - A solid Quad. One of Arbor's better offering and definetly worth checking out for fans of the style.
