Poured into a 1.5 liter stein a honey/copper color with a a thinner white head, big noticable hop aromas an American version of the style here quite piney and herbal in the nose with sweet alcohol notes as well.Like I said this is a big hopped American mai bock piney, lemony and even resiny but the vegetal, and pear-like notes more familiar with the style as well as a slight warming alcohol zip in the finish came as well.An interesting mai bock the best of both worlds but it was one and done for me it packed a kick.

On tap at the Arbor Brew Pub.

Poured a medium and hazy orange color with a small sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of pine, light spices, and lightly bready. Also had a malty sweetness to it. Light lacing left on the glass.

A bashful lace had accompanies the rich, translucent honey color. A bitter, tangy, and floral front segues nicely into clover honey sweetness. Finishes hoppy. Maibock (tied with scottish ale) is my fave genre, and this doesn't quite meet that profile of the many maibocks I've enjoyed, which are underwritten by an inexpressible but characteristic flavor: best I can do at this moment (which will undoubtedly change once I end the review) is citrus infused cream. This is a tasty beer, hence the high score. But as a stickler for my favorite styles, ABC needs to work on this and their Belgians before I'm a believer.

Sturdy dimpled German steins for this beer, Arbor makes this maibock a cherry sort of red but with a paler hue and a cartoonish shine. Has a little action, but nothing to remember.

Smells of pine needles, big fresh ones, and a large malt sweetness of amber tones. Wisps of pure grassy hops flow out later.

A big and balanced beer, as a bushel of malt balances the surprisingly uber-piney hops. The malts are pale and Vienna-like with flavors of honeysuckle and cherry syrup. The hops come in with a similar amount of power with lots of pine-like flavor and some dryness followed by a grassy draw in the finish. Round and well-integrated, you have to drink it on more than one occasion in Arbor's .5L glasses to "get it." (Well, that's my small experience). Moderate mouthfeel.

Pretty cool, definitely its own amber sweet and piney dry interpretation of this widely ranging style. The big sweetness is a bit much but luckily the big hops balance it. Definitely different but still unmistakeably maibock.
