A: nice golden color. Good clarity.
S: citrusy hop aroma
T: balanced malt to hop. Pushing the boundaries of a pale. West coast style.
M: nicely carbed. Light lingering bitterness.
O: overall a great session beer. However I've caught a few that taste off like they had oxygen introduced.

The Ypsi Gypsi is ok...I think the bottle I'm part-taking in is a bit over primed. The color was clear copper with bubbly white head that is leaving a nice ring lace. The smell is more malty than hoppy. The taste is starts crisp then malty, then bitter. The mouthfeel is medium in body with big carbonation. Overall it was ok...not crazy about it.

A: The beer is hazy amber yellow in color. It poured with a finger high off white head that has good retention oroperties and consistently left a shirt head covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of caramel malts and citrusy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that it tastes malty but the caramel flavors don't shine through. Notes of citrusy hops are present, and these contribute a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very balanced between the malts and hops.

I picked up a bottle of Arbor's Ypsi Gypsi a couple days ago for $1.69 at The Lager Mill. Arbor Brewing company is pretty solid, so when I saw a newly bottled beer from them at the store I thought I should give it a try, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date, but I know it's fairly fresh. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A- I really like the label on this beer, the artwork is nicely done and it's pretty eye catching, no problem with that. It poured a really hazy golden color that took on a nice orange hue when held to the light with three fingers worth of fluffy white head that died down to a thick ring that stayed till the end and left some nice rings of lacing. This beer looks good, it's a little cloudy for the style, but the head and lacing is really nice.

S- The aroma starts off with a decent amount of malts have a lower amount of medium sweetness and impart some bready, grainy, and cracker like aromas followed by a slight plastic like aroma that felt out of place. Up next comes the hops which smell pretty citrusy along with some light floral aromas that show up more on the finish. The aroma was ok but that plastic aroma seemed unnecessary, that made it pretty average,

T- The flavor seems to be somewhat similar and it starts off with the malts that have a lower amount of sweetness and impart a grainy and cracker like flavor. Up next comes the hops which seem to be earthy with some slight citrus and floral flavors mixed in as well. Towards the end comes some lighter plastic like flavors with a slightly higher amount of medium bitterness and it had a grainy, earthy and a plastic like aftertaste. The flavor was a little below average, it was going in the right direction for an American Pale Ale, but the plastic flavors really hurt the taste of this beer.

M- Not that smooth, crisp, slightly dry, on the lighter side of being medium bodied, with a pretty high amount of prickly carbonation. The mouthfeel wasn't that good, it could have been smoother and the high amount of prickly carbonation really hurt it.

Overall I didn't really care for this beer and I thought it was a below average example of the style, it just had too many problems to be a good American Pale Ale. This beer didn't have great drinkability, between the prickly carbonation and the off flavors it didn't go down smooth and one is enough for me. What I liked most about this beer was the appearance, it looked pretty nice in my pint glass, but unfortunately that was the highlight of this beer. What I liked least about this beer was the plastic aspect and the prickly carbonation, those were the downfall of this beer. I might try this beer again to see if this was an off bottle, but I'm not very motivated to buy another one anytime soon and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a good American Pale Ale. All in all I was disappointed in this beer, Arbor is pretty solid, but this was a major let down, I expected much more from this brewery, better luck next time guys, this beer was a miss. So far this is my least favorite beer from Arbor Brewing company.

Poured from a firkin at the brewery in Ann Arbor, the beer is a cloudy, hazy, golden-caramel coloring with a filmy, foamy, clingy, off-white head. Nose of subtle citrus, caramel notes, grassy highlights, and subtle resinous notes. Flavors are lemon tart and orange rind forward, with peppery and grassy highlights, and floral overtones. Lemon pepper and oregano notes, too. The body is light and smooth. The aftertaste is grassy and herbal, heavy on the grass. Smooth, slightly dry finish. Good beer.
