The wife and I were driving from New Orleans to Atlanta down by the Gulf Coast on scenic 90... Ocean Springs was a scheduled stop (Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan were here!) so why not some pizza and beer at the Mellow...

This ain't your average Mushroom. Only 19 taps and mostly crap (Guinness, Bass, PBR, Blue Moon, Stella). Craft comes the way of Lazy Magnolia (Timber Beast, Indian Summer, Pecan), plus Rogue Dead Guy and Abita Andygator. The bottle selection is mostly shit, some basic Flying Dog and Sierra.

Not sure if this is the state of Mississippi's fault or what, but you won't be coming here for the beer! Although that TImber Beast was mighty fine, mind you.

Pizza does not disappoint- had the potato pie with a side of hot sauce and loved every bite of it, as always. The ambience itself is kind of blah, this 'Shroom doesn't have the hippy-trippy-happy-funky atmo of other Mellows. More generic, kind of sad and sleep like Ocean Springs itself.

Service wasn't great but not bad either. Young girls not really loving their job but smiling enough. Overall, fine. Expected more beer-wise but whatever, and the pizza is always great. So why not?

I've been here at least 3 times(for pizza)and felt that it was time for a review.

Food: The pizza in my opinion is incredible. Love it. Haven't ever tried any of the other food though.

Service; Never had a problem. Everyone has always been nice.

Beer: AWFUL. This isn't necessarily Mellow Mushrooms fault here but man the selection was piss poor and I blame the state of Mississippi for this. The only interesting beers on this list were from Lazy Magnolia.

Overall: Go for the pizza not for the beer. Until Mississippi changes it's laws the selection will continue to suffer.

I was in town for work and it was on the way to the hotel. This place had an OK selection of bottled beer. All the bottled beer is the same selection that you can find any any grocery store or eating establishent. On tap they had a better selection of beer. The beer that I was interested in was Lazy Magonlia which is made in MS. They had five Lazy Magmanolia beers on tab. I will be back in town again and I will go back so that I can try the other Lazy Magnolia beers. The food was OK, I have had better food at hte Mellow Mushroom in Auburn. If look for a place with a good selectio of beer then you can find some here at this place.

The atmosphere in this place is fun and active. They play lots of rock and roll and the wait staff is very young and friendly. The bartender was helpful, although not a beer expert. They have 13 beers on tap and about 40 in bottles. They offer a sampler of 4 – 4 oz. glasses for the same price as a pint. The service is always with a smile. The food is excellent for a pizza joint. They also can cater to vegetarians. Overall, this is a fun place to try new beers and I’d suggest it while in the area.
