Königswinter is a tourist trap on the Rhein near Bonn and Köln. The place is full of bars and restaurants, and complete with a castle on a rock above town. Altes Brauhaus looks pretty much like the others but what makes it stand out is its "hauseigene" (house) kölsch. It's a decent brew that belong with the good ones in the style. The bierstube is separate from the restaurant and is entered from the street front. It has two small rooms with rustique furniture and a bar top crowded with chunks of fossile rocks presumably knocked off the local mountainside. After visiting the place a couple of times my impression is that it's a hangout for locals, several of them lone drinkers. Can't say it was a cheerful place although the service was good. Apart from the kölsch the selection is the usual range of pilz and weissbeer.
