Tried this for the first time over the long weekend.

A - Pours a light golden colour with a paper thin layer of head with no real retention of lacing.

S - Scent is very bready with a little citrus also noticeable. Pepper is hardly noticeable.

T - I was able to detect pepper and lime amongst the flavours off the top and it finishes with a bready malt. Flavours are really toned down, and I was rather disappointed with this one.

M - Probably the best feature of this particular offering. Very light on the tongue and goes down very smooth with the perfect amount of carbonation.

D - Overall, this beer is nothing more than average. In terms of its ranking among other lime beer offerings, this one just doesn't stack up. I was intrigued by the 'spice' factor, which I think could've differentiated it from the others, however, the flavours are just too mild to bump this one above the rest. That being said, if you're looking for a plain-jane patio drinking beer and don't want to settle for mass produced draft, then this one might the one for you!

341ml, clear as the day is long bottle. "Pepper". "Lime". "Lager". Hard to dispel the bandwagon banality of the previous few summers when I see this. Oh well - maybe I'll have to use a different brush here. Maybe.

This beer pours a fairly clear, pale golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and soapy off-white head, which leaves some random paramecia lace around the glass as it quickly abates.

It smells of crackery, grainy pale malt, a mild edgy (ok, 'peppery') yeastiness, and a cross between lime-flavoured cough drops, and citrus floor cleaner. The taste is semi-sweet bready pale malt, tempered by a certain adjunct graininess, more indeterminate, but not exactly veritable lime flavour, and a very faint black pepper spiciness.

The carbonation is moderate, in a slightly fizzy manner, the body quite light in weight, but not particularly thin, and a bit fleshy from the guest ingredient with a fruity origin. It finishes with a swath cut through the serially weakened malt - a muddled citrusy, neutered pepper dryness.

A cut above the typically abysmal lime lagers out there, sure, but still too bland and plain to back up the promise in the name. If you like the idea of an underwhelming dose of pepper and lime splashed over a generic lager, then, son, have I got a suggestion for you!

A - clear straw golden, short white head dissipated thin random cover
S - mostly adjunct with some tart lime aroma
T - adjunct with a touch of lime sourness, a little bit of peppery character, but all pretty mild typical watered down lager attributes
M - watery light body and not much else to comment on
O - a little better than the typical mass produce lime brews that gained popularity in recent years, and the prospect of a pepper accent was intriguing, but the flavours are just too mild to impress, but that said this would make a nice hot day refreshment

330ml bottle poured into tulip aug2 2010

A clear pale yellow with a fast falling thumbs width of head that left no lace

S pretend lime and a little cotton candy of all things

T not the worst lime beer I've tasted but that's not saying much, the lime's there perhaps a little pepper but this ones nothing worth trying

M feels like a macro lager thin and well carbonated

D it's hard to enjoy a beer that tastes lousy

good for a lime beer but unless you have scurvy I can't think of a reason for you to drink this beer

Ew. On several counts.

I was able to get a monster big head out of it with an aggressive pour. That settled down to a short cap in short order. Pretty good curtains of lace.

And that, I'm afraid, was the highlight of this brew. It has a very slight aroma of lime and an unpleasant chemical taste that starts bitter and finishes corn syrup sweet. Pepper? I don't think so.

Thin-bodied, but finishes heavy and sticky.

Not enjoyable at all.
