Notes / Commercial Description:
A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

Hmmm so this is a Stone beer?
Very average. One of those beers that will be forgotten.
A = OK nothing bad here. Nice light color slightly hazy. Looks inviting.

Smell = Again nothing bad very light flora notes. Different Hops so a nice change up.

Taste = Balanced Nothing to write home. I left a second bottle to warm with no improvement.

Mouthfeel = My first thought is Thin.

Overall = Different hops in this and I like different so why didn't this beer excite me?
I need to revisit this beer with a different mood/attitude and surroundings.

It's not imperial. It's not complex. It's not laced with elements of rarity or limitations. But what it is, is a straight-forward American IPA that doesn't back down from its bitter pedestal or cave to smoother, softer hop impressions. It is a bitter IPA and it is delicious!

The light golden, crystal clear, and highly effervescent beer builds a foamy lather of froth to aspire the aromas of grapefruit, orange, lemon and fragrant stemmy botanicals. Its first sip is tepidly of caramel and grain but hardly makes a mark on the hop onslaught to come.

Its quick middle casts aside any sweeter influence and favors hop taste, texture ad whimsy early on. Freshly grated oranges, lemons and grapefruits all capture an herbal, perfumy and woodsy spice as to capture a flavor that's most redolent of green tea, sassafras, fresh-cut grass and citrus peel.

Fully drying in the end, the medium-light ale closes with bone dryness and no apologies. Aggressive in its sharp and resinous finish, an afterglow of gin, spruce, lime and pepper begin to grace the quick aftertaste. with only echoes of citrus washing over the late palate.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is a bit subdued - resiny piney catty hops with some sugary fruit.

The flavor is sweet bready malt and a little fruit with catty resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, I taste no difference due to lack of gluten - definitely the hoppiest gluten reduced beer I've had. The hops aren't my favorite though...a bit catty.

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and golden orange in color with a rocky, white 2-finger head. Good retention, eventually leading to a thin, broken layer of surface suds and a fair ring around the edge.

Smell - Bright citrus notes of orange and lemon with hints of stone fruit and a light, sweet bready malt undertone.

Taste - Follows the nose, mostly. Candied orange with hints of lemon, pine and stone fruit. Light, generic bready sweetness hit near the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, then a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Splendid offering - don't let the 'Low Gluten' tag fool you. Fantastic hop profile with just enough malt base to keep it honest. Hop heads will enjoy this.

Very nice refreshing IPA, great sessionable beer. Slightly hazy golden color with small amount of head, minimal lacing. Smells of citrus hops. Tastes of malt, more citrus hops than floral, a little grain and biscuit. Finishes fairly clean without too much bitterness, mild mouthfeel and decent carbonation throughout that faded a little as the beer warmed. Will definitely try more from this brewery.

Aroma is more pine than citrus with lemony undertones and slight dank smell. Pours a moderate eggshell white head. Beer is a golden to slightly orange hue and clear when gently decanted from the yeast that was fairly firm to bottom of bottle. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with minimal malt taste. Taste starts off reflective of aroma with moderate bitterness but the lemon taste builds with every sip and develops into an unpleasant pithy bitterness.

Though far from undrinkable, I wasn't compelled to finish the bottle and dumped the last 3 ounces.

Glad I bought a single and not a six pack.

On tap at Sweetwater Tavern and Grill on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. First stop on our walk to Soldier Field for the final night of the Grateful Dead show. Any IPA would have done nicely on this day, but this was an exceptional early afternoon start. The beer held true to its name. Very drinkable.
Updates:
4-10-16 - On tap at Harbor House in San Diego.

Typically, I do not enjoy Stone's beers. I find them to be over hyped and I have often found they don't provide the follow through from the hype. However, this beer was no disappointment. It poured a nice yellow/golden color, opaque with a half finger head that quickly faded into lacing. Smells of citrus and hops, nice and floral. Potentially light and highly reminiscent of the Fresh Squeezed IPA. Tastes as it smells, hops right off the bat with a nice grapefruit flavor. Feels a bit too carbonated for my preference but still enjoyable for sure. Overall, this is a beer by Stone that I not only enjoyed, but I'd also recommend it.

12 oz. bottle - freshness date of 05/17/18:

Pours hazed golden with a thin white head that becomes a wisp. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of citrus.

The taste is citric with leafy/herbal spice. Wet cracker-like malt keep hop bitterness refreshing and smooth. A touch of lemon in the finish.

It hits full-bodied. Alcohol reasonably well-covered. Smooth overall.

A well-named brew. It is delicious.

Actually picked this up since the price was $6.99 for a six pack. Pleasantly surprised with this brew, Pours a cloudy gold color, doesn't look unfiltered to me. Hoppy with a solid malt backbone and a medium mouthfeel. Goes down pretty easily and the alcohol is pretty well hidden. I like it, I'd buy it again.

Another good IPA from Stone
Pine and lemon is what’s shown
Hops cut by a citrusy zest
Gargoyled bottles are the best
Like a lemon drop lawn freshly mown

12 oz bottle into IPA glass.
Clear golden look. Nose is citrus, lemon. Taste follows nose lemony citrus that goes into grapefruit bite at end. Medium feel. Overall a very nice IPA, a little different taste. Would drink again.

Serving: 12 oz bottle poured into a Founder's pint glass. Says Enjoy By 3/19/15, so maybe 6 weeks old or so?

A: Pours a bright golden-yellow with a 3/4-finger foamy white head that sticks around. Very clear and very carbonated, with tiny bubbles lacing up the glass.

S: Lemon, lemon pie, orange candies, some papaya and apricot as well. More exotic tropical fruit aromas than your traditional grapefruit and mango. Very unique.

T: Lots of lemon, orange, tangerine, papaya, and some pineapple. Not too sweet. Some bready malts on the finish.

M: Nice and full, great carbonation. ABV is somewhat noticeable, but this is a 7.7% IPA. Very, very dry finish. Almost, too dry.

O: So other than the unique spin of being "gluten-reduced", the main thing this beer has going is it's unique hop profile. There's some nice exotic fruit notes and nice lemon notes here you don't get in your average IPA, and I like that they mixed it up here. Very refreshing. The whole gluten thing doesn't really come into play, at least I can't tell the difference. I'd like the ABV toned down a touch, but the balance here is nice. May not blow you away, but it's an above average IPA from Stone that's unique above all else.

Recommendation: Gluten-intolerant or not, every hop-head should check this beer out at least once.

This is another tasty IPA from Stone with a wonderful citrus aroma. Albeit it’s good, it’s a bit bitter on the back end and in my opinion, not as good as the regular IPA.

Clear gold color, medium size white head with good retention and plenty of frothy patchy lacing....a good looking beer. Aroma is robust, citrus hops and a good indication that this one is going to be bitter enough for hop heads.

Taste is citrus hops, never had Lemon drop hops that I know of, but there is a lemony/citrus presence. This beer is plenty bitter. Mouthfeel is crisp and bitter, no hint of 7.7% abv.

A very tasty AIPA that I would try again.

Interesting beer I think the ABV might be higher than needed here for this beer though. I am dying for a 6.5% in between beer of Go To IPA and Enjoy By. I think that beer in 6 packs would crush. I like this beer and will revisit. This is an impressively crafted IPA but should have been a bomber format beer to test the waters. I'm ready for Go Enjoy IPA.

Clear pale gold

Malty leafy nose

Sweet malt, orange zest, lemon, black pepper

Medium mouthfeel, highly carbonated.

Something a little different. Not my favorite flavor profile in an IPA, but well done for what it was.

12oz bottle: no freshness date that I can see

Appearance: Brilliantly transparent dark gold color under a creamy fluffy white head.

Aroma: This is going to sound nuts, but I used to use this catfish blood with my bait and I'm getting a similar smell from this beer.

Taste: It has a very faint grain flavor along with a bit of tea, but it's very watered down.

Mouthfeel: Pretty dry, but it doesn't have enough presence in the mouth.

Overall: I wasn't a fan of this beer and I wouldn't pick it up again. The hops just didn't have enough flavor, there wasn't enough body supporting the beer...it just fell flat.

Pours an unfiltered looking light gold. Barely a head even with a hard pour. Lemon fragrance and good citrus taste you expect. Felt very sharp with a little more carbonation than was necessary. Overall a good change of pace from the regular Stone IPA.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---light to medium amber color. Clear. Minimal retention, faded quickly to a cap. Left good lacing.

S---Hoppy. Citrus, primarily lemon.

T---Follows the nose. Lemony with a nice hop bite.

F---Medium body with good carbonation. Hop bite provides a little pucker/quenching feel.

O---A nice IPA. Nothing great, but a quality beer that would be fine to spend an afternoon drinking.

Can't find a bottling date, it just specifies 2015.

A: Clear orange pour. Tall, frothy offwhite head. Great head retention but just a little bit of lacing.

S: Citrusy. Lemony, to be specific. Pretty one note, and oddly subtle.

T: More of the same, just not subtle anymore. Very lemony initially, followed by tons of bitter, bitter lemon peel. Maybe hints of orange in there but I think it's lemons mostly. No real sign of malt, crackery maybe? Reminds me of sorghum from The Alchemist's gluten-free saison they made. Very bitter and dry finish with just a touch of some dankness.

M: Medium bodied, bitter and dry.

O: Nice lemony IPA. I see that this is gluten free/low gluten, probably the best of the genre. Actually, by a mile I'm thinking. Not something I'd pick up all the time but pretty decent and a good alternative to celiac sufferers for sure.

Totally average, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Not clear enough to look good, but has nice lacing/retention. Tastes fine, feels fine. Doesn't smell like anything at all. Good to give to guests.

Pretty interesting beer here. You really get a punch from the lemony Hops upfront with the usual bite I would expect from stone. But the finish. Hmmm is nice and crisp but the only thing I can think of is black licorice. Ugh I hate black licorice. It's the last flavor I get on my tounge. Pretty smooth for 7.5stone brew. Tasted better from the bottle than the glass since it didn't let the black fruity licorice taste come thru and open up like in the glass.
Would not buy or drink again. ..... Unless I had to drink it
