Delicious IPADelicious IPA
Notes: A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

had not seen this one from stone till today:

A 1.5 finger of white head, settles to really impressive ,comples lacing
golden amber and a bit cloudy when held to the light.

S HOPS - true to the stone standards, Love the piney hoppy IPA aroma
T SOLID byte of hops
M Highly carbonated, citrusy hops hides the generous ABV
D NO guzzlin for this gem - sip to fully enjoy!

It's not imperial. It's not complex. It's not laced with elements of rarity or limitations. But what it is, is a straight-forward American IPA that doesn't back down from its bitter pedestal or cave to smoother, softer hop impressions. It is a bitter IPA and it is delicious!

The light golden, crystal clear, and highly effervescent beer builds a foamy lather of froth to aspire the aromas of grapefruit, orange, lemon and fragrant stemmy botanicals. Its first sip is tepidly of caramel and grain but hardly makes a mark on the hop onslaught to come.

Its quick middle casts aside any sweeter influence and favors hop taste, texture ad whimsy early on. Freshly grated oranges, lemons and grapefruits all capture an herbal, perfumy and woodsy spice as to capture a flavor that's most redolent of green tea, sassafras, fresh-cut grass and citrus peel.

Fully drying in the end, the medium-light ale closes with bone dryness and no apologies. Aggressive in its sharp and resinous finish, an afterglow of gin, spruce, lime and pepper begin to grace the quick aftertaste. with only echoes of citrus washing over the late palate.

Hmmm so this is a Stone beer?
Very average. One of those beers that will be forgotten.
A = OK nothing bad here. Nice light color slightly hazy. Looks inviting.

Smell = Again nothing bad very light flora notes. Different Hops so a nice change up.

Taste = Balanced Nothing to write home. I left a second bottle to warm with no improvement.

Mouthfeel = My first thought is Thin.

Overall = Different hops in this and I like different so why didn't this beer excite me?
I need to revisit this beer with a different mood/attitude and surroundings.

Clear pale gold

Malty leafy nose

Sweet malt, orange zest, lemon, black pepper

Medium mouthfeel, highly carbonated.

Something a little different. Not my favorite flavor profile in an IPA, but well done for what it was.

12oz bottle: no freshness date that I can see

Appearance: Brilliantly transparent dark gold color under a creamy fluffy white head.

Aroma: This is going to sound nuts, but I used to use this catfish blood with my bait and I'm getting a similar smell from this beer.

Taste: It has a very faint grain flavor along with a bit of tea, but it's very watered down.

Mouthfeel: Pretty dry, but it doesn't have enough presence in the mouth.

Overall: I wasn't a fan of this beer and I wouldn't pick it up again. The hops just didn't have enough flavor, there wasn't enough body supporting the just fell flat.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---light to medium amber color. Clear. Minimal retention, faded quickly to a cap. Left good lacing.

S---Hoppy. Citrus, primarily lemon.

T---Follows the nose. Lemony with a nice hop bite.

F---Medium body with good carbonation. Hop bite provides a little pucker/quenching feel.

O---A nice IPA. Nothing great, but a quality beer that would be fine to spend an afternoon drinking.

Yawn. Appearance of a west coast IPA, nose of a west coast IPA, taste of raunchy citrus hop smegma with notes of armpit cheese. Dare I say, delicious?

This beer pours a slightly hazy golden orange color with a dense, 2 finger white head. Retention is excellent. A one finger cap sticks around for the entire beer. There are many sticky sheets of hanging lacing. Smell is sweet lemon candy, orange, grapefruit, floral, pine and sweet bready malts. Taste is the same, juicy on the front with a bitter finish. Feel is light and slightly sticky. Overall a very good beer. I thoroughly enjoy the nice mix of citrus and pine, although the candied lemon is a bit sweet.

Totally average, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Not clear enough to look good, but has nice lacing/retention. Tastes fine, feels fine. Doesn't smell like anything at all. Good to give to guests.

Stone IPA is one of the best IPA's out there and a "Delicious" IPA how could I not get this!

A - Dark gold, almost orange color. Pretty clear with a big white head and nice lacing.

S - Huge hop fragrance with citrus fruit, lemons (duh), and some pine/herbal/dank. Really just tons of fresh hops but there is a light grainy, malt character underneath the candy hops.

T - Great flavor with the strong citrus/lemon hop character predominant with some of the normal herbal, resin, dank, and pine notes in the middle. The hop bitterness is also pretty strong and adds a nice crispness at the back-end to let you know that you are drinking an IPA and not liquid candy. There is much less malt character in this one compared to the regular IPA which makes it taste more like a session IPA instead of a normal IPA but with enough hop flavor for a double IPA!

M - Light mouth-feel with moderate carbonation. This one is just perfect for a hot day for me with tons of flavor and a lighter, drier finish but still enough ABV to keep me happy.

Overall, a DELICIOUS IPA. I was slightly worried when it read "Brewed to reduce gluten" but with the amount of hops that were squeezed into this beer and still with a 7.7% ABV tag there is nothing to worry about. It is less balanced than many IPAs in terms of the bitter vs sweet/ hop vs malt but I like bitter hops and this one has so much dry hop flavor that makes up for the lighter body. I would strongly recommend this one and I am surprised at the modest reviews.

Interesting beer I think the ABV might be higher than needed here for this beer though. I am dying for a 6.5% in between beer of Go To IPA and Enjoy By. I think that beer in 6 packs would crush. I like this beer and will revisit. This is an impressively crafted IPA but should have been a bomber format beer to test the waters. I'm ready for Go Enjoy IPA.

This is another tasty IPA from Stone with a wonderful citrus aroma. Albeit it’s good, it’s a bit bitter on the back end and in my opinion, not as good as the regular IPA.

Actually picked this up since the price was $6.99 for a six pack. Pleasantly surprised with this brew, Pours a cloudy gold color, doesn't look unfiltered to me. Hoppy with a solid malt backbone and a medium mouthfeel. Goes down pretty easily and the alcohol is pretty well hidden. I like it, I'd buy it again.

L-Deep honey colored....nice lacing on glass.moderate carbonation.

S-Good hop aroma...floral upfront, with some tropical fruits and even a little grungy weed like notes.

T-Hops up front again...floral and lemon notes dominate....some light mango as well. Malt just works as a canvas. Hoppy beer with moderate bitterness.

F-Maybe a tich thin in body but easy drinking....nice drying bitterness on the long finish.

O-A well done beer. Maybe a little light in the shorts but a nice drinker with good hop aroma and taste.

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and golden orange in color with a rocky, white 2-finger head. Good retention, eventually leading to a thin, broken layer of surface suds and a fair ring around the edge.

Smell - Bright citrus notes of orange and lemon with hints of stone fruit and a light, sweet bready malt undertone.

Taste - Follows the nose, mostly. Candied orange with hints of lemon, pine and stone fruit. Light, generic bready sweetness hit near the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, then a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Splendid offering - don't let the 'Low Gluten' tag fool you. Fantastic hop profile with just enough malt base to keep it honest. Hop heads will enjoy this.

12 oz bottle into IPA glass.
Clear golden look. Nose is citrus, lemon. Taste follows nose lemony citrus that goes into grapefruit bite at end. Medium feel. Overall a very nice IPA, a little different taste. Would drink again.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy golden orange with a big frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is a bit subdued - resiny piney catty hops with some sugary fruit.

The flavor is sweet bready malt and a little fruit with catty resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, I taste no difference due to lack of gluten - definitely the hoppiest gluten reduced beer I've had. The hops aren't my favorite though...a bit catty.

Moderate finger’s worth of off-white foam, speckled with larger bubbles, retention is average at best, the lacing forms strong and long streaks but only a few stick for any length of time. Bright coppery orange colored liquid, decent clarity with tiny active bubbles spread throughout. Grainy, peppery nose with a strong leafy bitter hoppiness which tends to push all else to the side, not really getting a significant lemon element, some pineapple to papaya fruit, however, on the whole the fruit as well a bit player. Medium-bodied and extremely muscular, if not stern. Super-dry with a tacky residue left on the tongue. More honey here and the lemondrop gains clarity. Burnt sourdough crusts, saline and dank leafy matter elevate on the back end. Sour white grapefruit slowly overcomes the lemon aspect. As in the nose, difficult to find a consistent fruit presence, what’s there mainly pineapple, nectarine, peach. Squarely placed within the Stone idiom.

Can't find a bottling date, it just specifies 2015.

A: Clear orange pour. Tall, frothy offwhite head. Great head retention but just a little bit of lacing.

S: Citrusy. Lemony, to be specific. Pretty one note, and oddly subtle.

T: More of the same, just not subtle anymore. Very lemony initially, followed by tons of bitter, bitter lemon peel. Maybe hints of orange in there but I think it's lemons mostly. No real sign of malt, crackery maybe? Reminds me of sorghum from The Alchemist's gluten-free saison they made. Very bitter and dry finish with just a touch of some dankness.

M: Medium bodied, bitter and dry.

O: Nice lemony IPA. I see that this is gluten free/low gluten, probably the best of the genre. Actually, by a mile I'm thinking. Not something I'd pick up all the time but pretty decent and a good alternative to celiac sufferers for sure.

Bottled 6/30/18, consumed 7/29/18

Looked great, clear gold with a nice head that left good lacing.

Aroma is very mild lemon and honey, not bad or great.

Taste and feel is just a super bitter bright citrus, honey, maybe some danky hop notes. Altogether way too sweet, lasting bitter bite that I pretty much expect from Stone.

Overall, although pretty cheap at TJ's, there's still just a lot of better alternatives even for the price.

12 oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Great price point at $9 and change at Safeway for 6 pack. I love that the crafted on and enjoy by dates, 3/26/18 and 7/9/18, are clearly printed on the bottom of the neck.

L: A beautiful filtered tangerine colored beer, fine bubbles streaming up to the top
S: Citrusy, lemon, hoppy goodness
T: Classic west coast style IPA with big citrus, lemon hop profile, with bitter finish. It’s delicious.
F: There is nothing abrasive about this beer, a very palatable and refreshing brew
O: Unique, and well crafted IPA. Stone does it again

Instead of the refreshing can of happiness I normally buy at Ralphs (Lagunitas's 12th of Never), I decided to try Stone's Delcious IPA because of-- what else?-- the box. It said that it was citrusy. With lemondrop. Hmm! Sounds like my good old 12oN! Unfortunately, it was not.

Poured into a tall Peroni glass. Smells maybe a bit of honey. (Virtually non-existent compared to 12oN). Dark honey color. Foamy head settles down to virtually nothing. Carbonation vanishes quickly. Tastes of malty apple with a noticeable alcohol taste. Quite bitter. I won't be going back to this one anytime soon.

PRO-TIP! Make it into a shandy with iced green tea lemonade. You'll be glad you did!

Pretty interesting beer here. You really get a punch from the lemony Hops upfront with the usual bite I would expect from stone. But the finish. Hmmm is nice and crisp but the only thing I can think of is black licorice. Ugh I hate black licorice. It's the last flavor I get on my tounge. Pretty smooth for 7.5stone brew. Tasted better from the bottle than the glass since it didn't let the black fruity licorice taste come thru and open up like in the glass.
Would not buy or drink again. ..... Unless I had to drink it
