Notes: A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

Tried this at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Pours to a half inch head good amount of lacing left behind. Aroma is bready, almost a sour dough. Taste is pine and citrus peel - mostly lemon and orange. This is not an especially bitter or hop forward ipa in terms of flavor. Nice ipa.

Clear pale gold

Malty leafy nose

Sweet malt, orange zest, lemon, black pepper

Medium mouthfeel, highly carbonated.

Something a little different. Not my favorite flavor profile in an IPA, but well done for what it was.

Bottled 6/30/18, consumed 7/29/18

Looked great, clear gold with a nice head that left good lacing.

Aroma is very mild lemon and honey, not bad or great.

Taste and feel is just a super bitter bright citrus, honey, maybe some danky hop notes. Altogether way too sweet, lasting bitter bite that I pretty much expect from Stone.

Overall, although pretty cheap at TJ's, there's still just a lot of better alternatives even for the price.

Instead of the refreshing can of happiness I normally buy at Ralphs (Lagunitas's 12th of Never), I decided to try Stone's Delcious IPA because of-- what else?-- the box. It said that it was citrusy. With lemondrop. Hmm! Sounds like my good old 12oN! Unfortunately, it was not.

Poured into a tall Peroni glass. Smells maybe a bit of honey. (Virtually non-existent compared to 12oN). Dark honey color. Foamy head settles down to virtually nothing. Carbonation vanishes quickly. Tastes of malty apple with a noticeable alcohol taste. Quite bitter. I won't be going back to this one anytime soon.

PRO-TIP! Make it into a shandy with iced green tea lemonade. You'll be glad you did!

12 oz bottle into IPA glass.
Clear golden look. Nose is citrus, lemon. Taste follows nose lemony citrus that goes into grapefruit bite at end. Medium feel. Overall a very nice IPA, a little different taste. Would drink again.

“Nugget, Calypso, Lemondrop & El Dorado hops featured”

Pours deep gold with a white-colored head.
Spicy, herbal and citrusy hop aromatics balanced with light-toasted malt. The spiciness is reminiscent of lemongrass.
The hop flavors really explode with a dominant flavor that reminds many on the brewing team of a lemon Starburst candy!
Medium body with a bitter, dry finish.
We went through many iterations of this beer at our Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station restaurant and brewery, using several hop recipes until we had that “Aha!” moment tasting a beer that I had asked Liberty Station Brewing Manager Kris Ketcham to brew. It was a single-hop beer called the Lost City of Liquid Gold, using 100 percent El Dorado, a new hop from Yakima, Washington. This beer gave us the last piece to the puzzle on the formulation for Stone Delicious IPA. We changed the dry hop to 100 percent El Dorado, and we achieved magnificent lemon candy and spicy hop flavors that are fun and unique.

I love Stone, this is something I want to write down every time I drink one of their beers. I love them for their excellence and their unique taste and brewing talent. This is none other, this is just like the can says: a "delicious IPA." Satisfying taste and feel, and though it is not a beer of a unique experience, it us definitely that of an excellent quality. It has no flaw, it is as good as it can get.
However, since I had the fortune to taste many of Stome's greatest, I must say that this is just an average production they made: just as its name says, it is just a delicious IPA, nothing more, nothing less.
Still, Stone is one of the best craft breweries and their beers are like no other. They never make mediocre. Even their average is above average.
I kind of missed the sleeve notes until the very end but I drank this beer without any expectation or (mis) conception. The numbers speak for thenselves. It's a delicious IPA.

12 bottled 6-1-18 and enjoy by 9-14-18
1/2" white head short retention and sits down to a cap quickly. Clear, bronze color.
Candied lemon peel and sweet malts.
Same as aroma but the citrus isn't as pronounced.
Slick, medium body and a lot of lingering bitterness. Not necessarily a flavorful bitterness but just bitterness.
I'm not feeling the deliciousness of Delicious IPA. Disappointing.

Moderate finger’s worth of off-white foam, speckled with larger bubbles, retention is average at best, the lacing forms strong and long streaks but only a few stick for any length of time. Bright coppery orange colored liquid, decent clarity with tiny active bubbles spread throughout. Grainy, peppery nose with a strong leafy bitter hoppiness which tends to push all else to the side, not really getting a significant lemon element, some pineapple to papaya fruit, however, on the whole the fruit as well a bit player. Medium-bodied and extremely muscular, if not stern. Super-dry with a tacky residue left on the tongue. More honey here and the lemondrop gains clarity. Burnt sourdough crusts, saline and dank leafy matter elevate on the back end. Sour white grapefruit slowly overcomes the lemon aspect. As in the nose, difficult to find a consistent fruit presence, what’s there mainly pineapple, nectarine, peach. Squarely placed within the Stone idiom.

Drank from the 12 oz bottle. Head started off with carbonation but quickly became creamy. A lemon zest aroma, not too heavy but just enough to get the mouth watering. Hops comes in midway and lingers afterwards. Lemon zest lingers toward the end and then shines through, ever so stealthily. Can't tell this is an almost 8% IPA, it is refreshing and tastes amazing! The El Dorado hops are beautifully brewed alongside lemondrop to give you what you want from an IPA, but with enough character and uniqueness that you are or should be craving from an epic IPA experience! 5/5

Another good IPA from Stone
Pine and lemon is what’s shown
Hops cut by a citrusy zest
Gargoyled bottles are the best
Like a lemon drop lawn freshly mown

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---light to medium amber color. Clear. Minimal retention, faded quickly to a cap. Left good lacing.

S---Hoppy. Citrus, primarily lemon.

T---Follows the nose. Lemony with a nice hop bite.

F---Medium body with good carbonation. Hop bite provides a little pucker/quenching feel.

O---A nice IPA. Nothing great, but a quality beer that would be fine to spend an afternoon drinking.

Very nice refreshing IPA, great sessionable beer. Slightly hazy golden color with small amount of head, minimal lacing. Smells of citrus hops. Tastes of malt, more citrus hops than floral, a little grain and biscuit. Finishes fairly clean without too much bitterness, mild mouthfeel and decent carbonation throughout that faded a little as the beer warmed. Will definitely try more from this brewery.

Pours an unfiltered looking light gold. Barely a head even with a hard pour. Lemon fragrance and good citrus taste you expect. Felt very sharp with a little more carbonation than was necessary. Overall a good change of pace from the regular Stone IPA.

I can’t believe this is rated above a two. Bought a six pack of bottles and will use the last five for cooking. No hop taste and it tastes metallic. Hard to believe this is classified as an IPA. Blah....

12 oz. bottle - freshness date of 05/17/18:

Pours hazed golden with a thin white head that becomes a wisp. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of citrus.

The taste is citric with leafy/herbal spice. Wet cracker-like malt keep hop bitterness refreshing and smooth. A touch of lemon in the finish.

It hits full-bodied. Alcohol reasonably well-covered. Smooth overall.

A well-named brew. It is delicious.

I like this beer... Very well balanced and knows what it is going for. Tight, crisp flavors and feels that compliment and challenge each other. A very nice resident beer in my fridge that most of my beery friends like. Give this one a try!

Prefer a lower abv in an IPA. Picked this up in a six pack on sale. The Stone balrog is not my friend on this bottle. He rasps - "mistake" as i sip it down, and ponder all this useless beauty.

12 oz bottle poured into tulip glass. Great price point at $9 and change at Safeway for 6 pack. I love that the crafted on and enjoy by dates, 3/26/18 and 7/9/18, are clearly printed on the bottom of the neck.

L: A beautiful filtered tangerine colored beer, fine bubbles streaming up to the top
S: Citrusy, lemon, hoppy goodness
T: Classic west coast style IPA with big citrus, lemon hop profile, with bitter finish. It’s delicious.
F: There is nothing abrasive about this beer, a very palatable and refreshing brew
O: Unique, and well crafted IPA. Stone does it again

This is another tasty IPA from Stone with a wonderful citrus aroma. Albeit it’s good, it’s a bit bitter on the back end and in my opinion, not as good as the regular IPA.

Very nice citrus IPA. Citrus aroma is light but the grapefruit aroma stands out. Good balance beer, overall good beer but the bitterness is slightly high which for my preference slightly strong but overall it is a good beer. No problem purchasing it again.

Bottle consumed at Buffalo Wild Wings Casper.

Pours a slightly hazy pale gold, small head of foam, good lacing.

Smells of grapefruit, tropical fruit, lemon.

Taste is the same, hoppines is kinda dank and resinous. Cracker malt is there but overwhelmed by the hoppy goodness.

Nice mouthfeel, nice IPA.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. IMO it tastes better once warmed and as you go along. Only tried IPA and this one from Stone. They both hit hard at first and then get softer as you go. Overall I enjoyed it and would purchase again. A little sweeter than the flagship IPA. I enjoyed the smell more than anything.

12oz bottle in a nonic pint glass.

Pours a copper-orange color with a 1F off-white colored cap with staying power and heavy ring lacing. It's just slightly cloudy.

Modest aromas. Some light lemon citrus, clean malt, a bit of alcohol and there's the note of onion that I seem to find in Stone IPAs.

Alcohol soaked malt with a touch of lemon.

Medium body with a silky feel. There's hop bitterness and alcohol bite.

My numbers are scattered because the beer falls short on flavor.

Pours a golden color, fairly transparent, small head. Smell is largely earthy and piney, with a bit of citrus. Taste is more on the earthy side than the citrus side. In fact, there's really no citrus to the taste at all. This is a dry, earthy, lightly bitter IPA. The after taste is quite mild and clean, which is nice. It doesn't leave any bitterness on the back-end. A fairly smooth, well-balanced, drinkable IPA, but I like my IPAs a touch more citrus-y usually. Certainly a good IPA, would drink again if offered.
