Notes / Commercial Description:
A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

The color is a clear copper tone. When smelling it, you can definitely sense the bitterness. Pretty bitter on the intial sip then has a weird after taste. I think I taste walnuts at the end. It's like a really light Hopdevil

not a big fan of Stone, but this one looks beautiful. nice, bright yellow color, creamy head on top, and very good carbonation.... no aroma whatsoever, however in the bottle or the glass.... and true test, the taste..... crisp, clean. pine-y. floral. very floral.

12 bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: It's really clear, orange color with a nice creamy white head, lots of lacing down the glass, tiny bubbles stream up the side.

A: Lots of citrus, spice, lemon, orange, smells really good. As the beer warms there is a strange burnt plastic aroma at the end.

T: I got a hit of citrus at first, then bitterness, it's not a bomb, there is more citrus than other Stone IPAs I have tried. Lots of bitterness that lingers. The alcohol is well hidden at 7.7%. It does lose some of its flavors as it warms.

M: Medium mouthfeel, not oily.

O: I think this is the best IPA I have ever tasted besides their Enjoy By IPAs. Stone IPAs have never impressed me but this one does. I like the more citrusy IPAs and this falls in the category. But this does not taste like something new, it taste very familiar but I am not sure where.

Pours a hazy golden with a finger of white foam. Moderate retention and lace follow. Nose is hop spicy and lemony citric yet balanced and not too oily in nature. Aroma reminds me of one of Stone's collaboration brews but can't quite figure which one.

Taste follows with spice and lemon again and with a coarse breadiness. Bit more hop and peppery spice on the finish though not overly bitter, aka their standard IPA. Offers a light sweetness yet no notes of ethanol to be found. Still offers a good feel but not such a lingering one. Quite quaffable for 7.7% and quite likely the future of IPA's as more and more non IPA drinkers seek them and brewers tweak accordingly. The hops they are a changing, and I'll take this anyday over the garlic notes that are prevalent of late.
