Notes / Commercial Description:
A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

Good bitterness, good smell and taste, but it almost tastes unnaturally sweet.

Uber Fresh. Hit shelves in the Bay Area this morning from what I was told.

Interesting and unique citrus profile. I'd describe as a lemon-lime citrus forward beer with some grapefruit skin. Grassy and prickly pine complimenting the citrus but there's a weird bready - cardboard thing going along with it. Kind of one-dimensional but easy drinking 7.7%ABV makes this a sneaky beer. Light and crisp body for the ABV with just enough malt to let you know it's there, but make no mistake, this one's not about the malt. Alcohol slightly detectable.

Nothing mindblowing in today's arena of new up and coming amazing hoppy beers popping up all over, but for $8.99 a six-pack....This isn't a bad deal when you consider what a rip Ruination is. Cheers!

From Brewery Grower

A - clear gold hugh white head.Tons of cling.
S - Light malt and hops... less than expected.
T - Matches pretty close to smell. Nice, but mild.
M - Light body, ok finish balance and carb.
D - Very sessionable in spite of ABV.

From 12 oz bottle to pint glass

The IPA has a typical copper-tan color, clear. A subdued nose yields notes of citrus zest, grass, pepper, mint and crackery yeast. Flavors are more rounded; hop-forward but plenty of honeyed notes to keep things drinkable. There's a vinous spice mid-sip, kinda non-specific and floral, but gives this a bit of a West-meets-East coast quality. Though most would still consider this West Coast in style.

Nothing breakthrough here, but easy to drink, and it doesn't taste like "Stone". Not that that's necessarily bad, but it's nice to see a brewery that's been more focused on marketing, distribution and expansion actually come up with a new, tasty concoction (memo to Greg: leave the chilies in your garden).
