Delicious IPADelicious IPA
Notes: A citrusy IPA with Lemondrop & El Dorado hops
Crafted to reduce gluten
First Release: January 2015

While our beers are many and diverse, yet unified by overarching boldness, India pale ales are our undeniable bread and butter. The result is an intensely citrusy, beautifully bitter beer is worthy of the simple-yet-lordly title of Stone Delicious IPA. Lemondrop and El Dorado hops combine to bring on a magnificent lemon candy-like flavor that’s balanced by hop spice. It’s unlike anything we’ve tasted in nearly two decades of IPA experimentation, and another lupulin-laced creation we’re excited to introduce to hopheads everywhere.

Stone Delicious IPA brewed by Stone Brewing, with an ABV of 7.70% This American IPA pours out a hazy amber color with a nice white head. You really can't see though this brew, so it is unfiltered. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this brew, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness, citrus notes, and earthy grains and malts. This is one inviting IPA, so far. Now for the taste, it is Bold with, hop bitterness at first. Then a nice bite of citrus flavors, and a nice smooth earthy grains and malts. This is well put together American IPA. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a super nice balance to it. I can't get over how smooth this American IPA goes down, it is really hard to pick up on the 7.70% ABV in this brew. This is one of the more bolder IPA's on the market, not saying that is a bad thing. The mouth feel of Stone Delicious IPA is Bold, Hoppy, Citrus, Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Stone Delicious IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would definitely look this American IPA up again giving the opportunity to. Stone Brewing, did a real nice job with this brew.

Light golden color, with a hint of amber. Hazy, with thin head. Huge aroma; hops hit you when you open the bottle. While the taste was pretty heavy in the hops, there was still a little maltiness under there. Maybe a little lemony citrus flavor there, too. Overall some bitterness, but would say it is more dry than bitter. May be best IPA I've ever had.

Straw yellow with lacing foam.

Must, El Dorado-y.

No citrus, IMO. Peachy and dense El Dorado, finish is soapy clean which is a real draw back.

Medium body, as expected.

March 13th, 2015 - Stone's IPAs help define our city's styles, so whenever a new IPA pops up I had to quiver of reviews, hoping to see how Stone plans and plots to shape the hoppy beer scene. I enjoyed this particular one at Stone South Park (RIP) in a chalice that gives the beer plenty of purchase to show off its light hay colored tones. The aroma is intense with white grape juice scents, and lemon chicken (possibly sesame chicken, depending on my shifting frame of mind.) It is much less sweet in the flavor though, with a good sudsiness and dankness that fades quickly into the aftertaste. There, more grapes and gooseberries are featured, as well as the delicate softness of elderflower.

Everything it advertises.
Look. Clear
Smell citrusy hops with some piney
Taste. Spicy. definite west coast ipa with lemon drops and spicy hops balancing
Feel. Typical west coast ipa
Overall a good surprisingly subtley different beer. Man those adjectives keep coming after too many ipas in one sitting.

Looks hazy straw color with decent lacing. Smells of citrus hops. Tastes clean and crisp with nice lemon hop bite. Feels smooth and silky, not viscous at all. Nice dry snap finish.Very little malt presence. Overall a decent West coast style IPA. Not my favorite, would have again for free.

Amber color with a little haze and a nice clingy, foamy head. Didn't pick up much at first on the nose besides the malt, but digging deeper, got some subtle tropical fruit and pine notes. Orange peel, pineapple and grapefruit mark the good flavor characteristics on the front palate, with a nice, smooth malty base. Very balanced, not bitter on the finish at all. Feel was medium, with a decent coating of the palate. Overall a solid IPA, nothing too noteworthy. Could slam a bunch of these on a hot Vegas day.

The name definitely fits the description of the beer. A light colored beer, pours easy, and goes down easy. It has a light citrus smell. Like regular Stone IPA, it has more than the average amount of hops and carbonation. It's a bit pricey, average price I've seen it for is $9.99 for a 6 pack, or up to $5.99 for a 22 oz bottle. A great summer beer for a hot day. By taste alone you would not know it is 7.70% ABV.

Part of an IPA variety 12 pack bought yesterday. Best by date 12-26-17. Pours a nice copper with a decent head. Aroma was almost nonexistent. Taste and mouthfeel were very good imo. Overall I give it a 4

This brewer is, by my estimation, largely responsible for the explosion of quality craft beer. It's fitting that my 350th review is of one of their products. Like all other Stone brews, this is a very nice and high quality beverage. Keep it up Stone.

On draught at Stone Brewing Berlin.

A: Dark amber, hazy, decent sized head.

S: Leant towards orange on the citrus fruit scale.

T: Strong notes of tangerine, gave way to a sharp zesty finish. Low on the bitterness, his the booze.

M: Fairly light texture, slipped down well.

O: Dangerously drinkable, quite subtle and balanced.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Clear gold amber with fairly light head & carbonation. Smell is subdued lemon, orange, some other citrus and a touch of metallicity. Taste is also subdued yet balanced. Certainly some stinging bitter hops and citrus but nothing to blow you away. Mouthfeel is really the winner here as this drinks like a beer with half the ABV! Very smooth on the finish. Not bad but there are better varieties.

Delicious Ipa is unique even for such a diverse style here in the U.S. Its beautiful in color with a frothy head leaving a ton of stick. Dank hop filled aroma with hints of bright citrus and a hit of sharp pine cone scent. Flavor wise this is as good as it gets when wanting a 'new' style of IPA while keeping world class flavor and drinkability in check. Lovely soft notes of classic lemon drop candies paired with sticky hop oil. Hop spice keeps everything flowing nicely.

This is a well done IPA. This isnt a lemon beer, but a damn fine quality ipa with notes of lemon drop candy. Absolutely delicious as it states on the bottle. It's feel is balanced to perfection yet still slamming those dank hops all over your palate. Texture and thickness is world class like the Brewery who created it. I've had 100s of ipas, but never one like this. Usually the weirder ones just miss the mark. Not this... Stone has never left the forefront of the IPA style and this is just another fine example of that.

Although not for celiacs this is an amazing beer for people with gluten intolerance.

Color is a deep gold with a hint of copper and lightly hazy. Light head and minimal lacing.

Smell is a mix of pine and tropical fruit with very little malt.

The flavor is sweet on the front with hints of tropical fruit and strong pine notes and a bitter finish.

The malt character is awful, I understand it's attempting to be low gluten, and they really just shouldn't do that because this beer is deplorable

The hop profile is good but the malt is God awful

Please don't encourage breweries to do low gluten stuff guys, beer doesn't have a lot of gluten in the first place
Thx

T: starts lightly sweet with a hint of caramel, medium fruit, citrus, and orange leading to an assertive bitter finish. he bitterness is a little sharp and has a faint medicinal note.

F: It feels like a medium bodied beer with medium carbonation.

O; The bitterness is a little harsh but the flavors and the feel of the beer are very good

Pours dark golden, smell is hoppy and pleasantly of tree sap, like a nice cool summer day in the shade. Very easy to drink, brings a wonderful headrush with an awesome aftertaste. Very easy to drink for an IPA with such a high gravity.

The taste is enormously citrus-y, this IPA is absolutely loaded with fruit. You taste it in the front and it lingers in your mouth quite a bit afterwards, and warms your stomach even further after. A great IPA.

Bottle to pint glass. Not bad. But I wouldn’t call it delicious. The standard stone IPA is still my favorite stone IPA. Taste is Hoppy and the feel is dry. Aroma is slight citrus, but no more than almost any other IPA, so not sure how the lemondrop helps.

Pours a golden yellow into a fifteen ounce glass mug the same temperature as the beer. White foamy head of about one finger that dissipates rapidly to a small patch. A bit hazy. Very little in the way of lacing. Very good looking brew.

Ruby red grapefruit assaults the nose along with orange zest. Lemon in the background. No malts forward but there is a touch of malt which is barely perceptual.

Tastes of bold citrus hops which follows the nose with the ruby red grapefruit. The orange and lemon work in the background. Enough malt comes through to provide a much need balance to the big hops.

This is a crisp and refreshing brew. Light to medium on the palate with excellent carbonation. It finishes pleasantly dry.

A very good IPA. Quite drinkable. The name does apply. It is delicious. At 7.7% ABV feel free to have another.

The appearance was a nice looking mostly transparent golden to bronzed color with a nice carbonation rising at a nice adequate pace. A one finger white foamy head dissipated within less than a minute leaving a sticky lacing glacing all around the beer. The smell had a sharp grapefruit with a quick sweet lemon balancing and giving off a tad of vanilla to balance and give off a slight bready sort of aroma. The taste was mainly sweet with the grapefruit and lemon. The lemon definitely is there in the taste and amplifies a really nice sweet citrus goodness. The aftertaste is semi-dry and slightly lemony leading to the same sort of finish.. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a good sessionability about it. Nice carbonation for an AIPA that I know I like. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA that I would have again.

Pours a very slightly hazy straw with a thin white head. Smell is super strong lemony grapefruit, almost to the point of smelling like some hippy cleaning product, in a good way, there is also a note of grass that I detect in the back. Flavor is super resinous, thickly bitter. More grapefruit than lemon and a bit more sweetness that I noticed in the smell. Very very citrusy. The mouthfeel is somewhat thin, very crisp and light but definitely a bit resinous. Not a bad beer, especially for real SD IPA fans but definitely not, of all the Stone IPAs, the one I would name 'delicious'. Good tart citrusy mad house though for sure.
