Notes / Commercial Description:
A vibrant hop-bursted session IPA
First Release: March 2014

Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we embrace our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a "session" IPA that delivers all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employ "hop bursting," a new technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to coax out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.

Huge foam when poured. Low ABV% hazy blonde IPA. Nice job for a session IPA, but prefer stronger hops from a Double IPA.

From a fresh can into a proper glass. Hey, it's a fucking pint! It comes in... yeah. Lighter color than their true IPA, but lovely pillow of a head with strong lacing, in fact very sticky foam. Good carbonation. Legitimately a decent IPA, despite the low ABV.

Hops, hops, and more hops. Hop bursting is a process where you add a huge amount of hops during the final brewing phrase and boil it only for a short while. And lemme tell ya, the result is amazing. Colour is pretty nice, kinda what you'd expect from a pale IPA. Smell absolutely knocked me off—they should start making perfumes and air fresheners off of this! Taste is quintessentially IPA-esque, only with a load more hops than usual. Feel is pretty nice, but could’ve used more alcohol—4.8% just isn’t what I would expect from this style. Overall—this is an amazing IPA, par for the course for Stone Brewing. These guys just cannot mess up and make a great beer, every product of theirs should be considered a national heritage. Thanks, guys!

300ml serving at Stone Brewing Berlin.

A: Cloudy, golden, large head which faded fairly quickly.

S: Cascade hop aroma, lime and grapefruit, floral.

T: Lime, grapefruit, fairly bitter.

M: Crisp texture, medium body.

O: Slightly overdid the bitterness, not quite balanced.

Foam overkill. A good brew that when poured foamed up 3/4 of my glass. Had to wait for the foam to settle before I could take a drink. A mid-to-dark amber color. Opaque, not translucent. A good quality flavor, delightful actually. It was what I expected from Stone. The overall feel was good, being what I expected. Would not mind having a few more of these.

Deep yellow in color with an orangish hue and light chill haze. Poured with a moderate, soapy, bright white foam with medium high retention. Fresh citrus aromas of orange a lemon zest. Light malt aroma beneath. Medium light bodied with high, yet soft, carbonation that nicely gives the impression of a fuller body. Light creaminess from the middle to the end. Medium high orange and lemon citrus flavors up front with light maltiness. Medium bitterness through the middle with spicy hop and caramel maltiness in tow. Finished with spicy hop and caramel malt flavors along with a light bitterness. One of the best low abv ipas I've tasted. Good body and feel along with solid hop character and just enough malt to balance it out.

From a can.
I really loved this session IPA, maybe the best one I've had so far.
Smooth mouthfeel and big hop presence all along. Citrus (mostly grapefruit), pine resin, watermelon.
Once again a great beer from Stone Berlin
