Notes / Commercial Description:
This version of Stone RuinTen Triple IPA imagines orange peel and vanilla bean being caught moshing with this hardcore hop legend. Its original inspiration starts back with our decision to take the 2002 release of Stone Ruination IPA and make it into a much bigger and even hoppier monstrosity in 2012 for its 10th anniversary. With this change, our mega-hopped double went triple IPA. Soon after its release, the nickname "RuinTen" began to circulate and stuck. No sooner did we sell out of the special release that you guys began to loudly clamor for more of this veritable hop behemoth, and from that noise the annual RuinTen release was born. Totally being ones to mess with a good thing, we decided to introduce two new ingredients to produce this modern-day, frenzied mosh pit of hops: orange peel and vanilla bean. The result is a melee of flavor. Dive in, or watch from the seats. Your Call. You'll find us in the pit.

Got the beer on tap in a tulip style glass. The beer poured a medium amber color with orange and reddish tints. The head is off white with good retention. The head left a sizable amount of lacing on the glass. The beer is near opaque and has some carbonation bubbles.

The nose is strong, orange, vanilla, grapefruit, pine, floral, grass, perfume, caramel, toasted malt, bread yeast and booze.

The taste is orange, pine, floral, lemons, grapefruit, oranges, floral, grass perfume caramel, bready, biscuits, booze, and yeast. The vanilla is on the back end of this beer and not as strong, I assume the hops has something to do with it.

The mouthfeel of the beer is bitter, carbonated, crisp, slightly chewy, and the finish lingers.

This is such a nice beer with the orange flavors, and the vanilla, it blends so well together and finishes so nice. I am so blessed I got to try this beer.

Maybe I got a bad batch. Bottle dated May 2017, opened and consumed July 2017. Tastes extremely medicinal. Vanilla bean bending you over and having its way. Can't differentiate any citrus or hop notes. Worst I've ever tasted (OK, not as bad as Foraging Swine or Smoked Bastard, but still....) Purchased at a Chicagoland Mariano's. If this is where you live and the store where you might shop, take a pass.

Pours a clear copper color with a big white foam head. Sticks around for a bit, and leaves a significant amount of lacing.

Strong aroma of vanilla bean and orange peel, with a hint of alcohol.

Taste follows the nose. This is actually quit a simple beer taste-wise, basically amounting to a mix between cream soda, orange soda, and booze. It's good, but confusing my taste buds. Too heavy on vanilla to resemble a true beer, despite weighing in at 10.8& ABV.

Medium bodied. Ridiculously drinkable at 10.8%.

Honestly, a bit of a disappointment here, but very tasty nonetheless. Honestly, I want to dislike this more because the flavor is way too overpowering, but the flavor that overpowers is what gives it the tastiness.

A-Orange and clear, very slight off white head
S-Dank hop aroma with feint vanilla at the back end
M-Carbonation is on the higher end with a little spiciness. There is a resinous mouthfeel
T-Sweetness upfront with an alcoholic wave. Bitterness comes in and lingers at the back of the throat as an aftertaste
O-Good beer, the gimmic of citrus fruit and vanilla is interesting...

Pours a reddish orange, clear, very little head

Smell: big time tangerine, grapefruit, orange zest, and the unique twist of mellow vanilla

Taste: overpowering vanilla, a hint of butterscotch, a finish of lemon, zest, a bit of pleasant bitterness on the finish

Feel is slightly oily, not bad for the ABV, not overly boozy. Slightly carbonated.

Really a unique twist on Ruinten. The orange is a pleasant and natural addition, the vanilla is a unique wrinkle that kind of grows on you.

Cloudy dark orange pour with a white one-finger head. Aroma of orange and caramel. Taste is very bitter upfront with a strong citrus flavor…lots of orange peel and grapefruit. Can also taste a good bit of orange juice, caramel, and pine. Vanilla bean is lost for meMedium to full bodied with a slick mouthfeel and just a hint of alcohol warmth on the back of the throat.

Pours translucent golden orange with a half-inch khaki head that remains as wisps and ring on top. Earthy hop aromas are followed by an aggressive bitter bite up front and subtle orange and vanilla flavors on the finish.

Copper orange body, hazy and with a light off white head and big lacing. Nose is pine and orange cream soda, flavor follows nose, mild bitter bite. Decent.
