For 20 years our passion for brewing and our obsession with hops have challenged traditional styles and expectations for beer. So it’s only fitting we commemorate this momentous occasion by crafting a liquid ode to bold brewing that satisfies your hop thirst and pays homage to our flagship San Diego brewery, located on Citracado Parkway (which itself pays homage to the citrus and avocado agricultural history of the region).

“Citracado” also teases the two key ingredients of this beer. “Citra” refers both to the juicy gem of a hop and its citrusy (and tropical) aromas and flavors. “Cado” inspired us to utilize wonderful, native avocado flower honey. Combine the two and the result pours like silk and abounds with enough hops to match our excitement for reaching this 20-year milestone. We thank you sincerely for the years of support and pledge that we will, as always, strive to live up to the reasons for your loyalty!

Bottle from Boise Co-op. Clear amber pour with normal airy head. Aroma leans towards the malts, lightly hopped, flavors also favor the malt, caramel, toffee. Minor hop bitterness adds some dryness to the finish.

Reviewed from (very) long-standing notes. Poured from the 22 oz. bottle into a Cigar City Brewing goblet.

A: Translucent bronze – somewhat darker than expected - and visible carbonation a bit on the low side. Forms a finger's worth of off-white head with good retention.

S: Tangerine-forward citrus, tropical fruits, and grapefruit. Plus pineapple and papaya. Biscuit sweet malt body, but no caramel on the nose - so it works better for me than I was afraid of. Not a huge nose perhaps, but nice.

T: Taste bitter orange, grapefruit pith, and pineapple. Lesser notes of dank and melon. A pretty nice combo, actually. A substantial sweetness from the malt body, but between the lack of caramel malts and that the whole thing is dried out from the honey, the flavors each play in their own sandbox well. Markedly bitter in the hang, with residual dank and oranges with some typical-of-Stone naked alpha acids.

M: Body on the heavy side for style. Alcohol present but integrated. Good carbonation sensation.

O: A big malty backbone on what I’m guessing is a big IPA, but the hops manage to not only stand up to it but still dominate the drink. Good beer from Stone again.

A nice imperial IPA with sweet honey hints, mixed with a bitter fruity taste. Drank it in 2017, so maybe a little too late to fully appreciate it.

Hazy, orangy look. Minimal head. From a 22oz. bottle. Was bottled 13 months prior, fridge kept.
Nice aroma, citra hop n' cado flower honey play off each other. Goes to the sweeter side, the mouthfeel is a tad more "thicker" than I would like. But regardless, it works.
After giving initial taste test review. The real appreciation is in the casual "drinking" the taste will come later. I like it, you may too.

This thing is a changeling. The taste is constantly shifting from citrus, to melon, to tropical fruit and over again with a subtle honey in the background. Incredibly beer.
