Draft at Bitter Creek. Very smooth for a double, light bodied. In resinous aroma. Back in the day this was probably a bitching DIpA, but mild by today’s standards.

Finally cracked my bottle of this open tonight and poured it into one of my tulip glasses. This beer pours a somewhat cloudy/hazy light to medium copper color with lots of little bubbles continuously and fairly rapidly rising to the beer's surface. Has a white head that's about an inch thick when first poured that settles fairly quickly to a thick film layer of foam surface covering along with a very thick ring lining the inside of the glass. Good lacing here too. Aromas of some slightly toasted, bready malt sweetness that's followed by a lot of citrus and pine dry hoppedness. The taste is pretty much the same, with a slightly toasted, bready, somewhat caramelized malt sweetness that gives way to big dry hopped flavors of grapefruit, pine, mango with a nice lingering bitterness. Has a quite crisp, yet smooth and frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a very clean finish and a nice dry aftertaste. Another excellent beer from Stone. Certainly reminds me a lot of the original version of Ruination, which is a good thing of course.

Darker amber but not quite brown. Hazy. Initial head is solid and leaves several streaks on the glass.
More deeply toasted malt than the traditional pale -- perhaps some low level crystal malt. Light hop. Definite perfume in the background (in a good way).
There's a bubblegum candy essence to the initial taste, a bit like fruity candy. Yet, the finish is dry and bitter, creating a nice complexity I like. The aftertaste is all black pepper bitterness. Expected body and carbonation.
Overall, I like the journey from first sip and smell to the aftertaste. The changes are distinct but soft enough to work.

L - Copper with clarity, but hazy. 1 finger of head and some beautiful lace left on top of the brew and all over the glass
S - Huge dry-hopped aroma of citrus and pine. So pungent it almost burns your nose hairs. Amazing aroma
T - Bold and hoppy. Strong malty backbone, and citrus and pine hops explode in your mouth. Caramel, grapefruit
F - full body and medium carbonation
O - It's an old school DIPA, but I like the oldies. Much like the Stone Ruination 1.0 (please come back!)
Happy 5th! (And 20th!) to Stone, and me!

Picked up a bomber from Craft Beer Hop Stop 10-1-16. Bottled on 8-17-16.
Beer poured orange with a very nice white head that has some very good hang time.
Nose is citrus forward and malty.
Taste is citrus pith forward over a generous malt backbone. Lingering grapefruit pith on the palate.
Mouthfeel is full and satisfying.
Overall this is a nice beer that was considered very good 15 years ago but in the shifting world of IPA's this is more pithy than most.

A 22 oz bomber, bottled on 25th August 2016, to be enjoyed by 23rd November 2016 (drank on the 26th, so I’m three days late). Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: It poured a clear copper amber colour with a big three finger white head with pretty good retention and nice lacing.
Aroma: Citrus zest mostly mandarin and lemon, grapefruit, pine, biscuity malt and flowery.
Taste: Biscuity malt, light caramel sweetness, mandarin, orange zest bitterness, a hint of tropical mango and peach, with a light floral and herbal element.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I was not impressed with my first sip, BUT actually, this got a lot better the more I drank it. Its not too sweet and not too bitter in my opinion, which seems to be a rare thing with Double IPAs these days. I enjoyed it, especially the more I had.
