A tropical IPA that transports you... to a hop-induced state.

Your official duties for the day have been to maybe take a hike to a secluded waterfall, perhaps grill something, definitely chill with plenty of sand between your toes... and ctack a phenomenal beer to complete the experience. Check, check, check again and... pfffft... check.

Welcome to our vacation transportation express

This ain't no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to thr citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine - the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit - we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you'd likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn't tell you it was there). We're not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the "I want my beer to taste like fruit juice" crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.

Look - poured from a 12 oz bottle. Yellow, hazy, with little to no head. A hint of lacing.
Smell - strong scent of fresh tangerines, pleasant and not too sweet, which is supported by a refreshing citrus hoppiness. Quite promising.
Taste - very much still a robust IPA: strong hoppy flavor, some malts, with a dry finish. The tangerine flavor is mellow and complements the hoppiness without overtaking it.
Feel - medium bodied, medium-high carbonation, and right around where I expect the ABV to be at 6.7%.
Overall - an excellent IPA with fruity undertones. Some "fruity IPAs" really outdo the fruity part, but Stone knows where the focus is and gets it done right.

Slightly hazy golden orangish color with a thick head with decent retention.
Nice and balanced citrusy aroma with notes of tangerine, pineapple and bread.
Flavor with notes of tangerine peel, pine, spices, pineapple and slightly toasted malts. Quite dry and bitter aftertaste. Perfectly tuned to 75 IBUs.
Light to medium body with appropriate carbonation.
Assertive citrusy American IPA with predominant tangerines and pine notes. Very well done given you don’t feel as fruit was added. This starts sweet than quickly dries out to a pleasant bitterness.

Hops overpower the citrus. Still a nice smooth IPA

This is one excellent Tangerine IPA!

You know how sometimes these beers with fruity adjuncts end up leaving a taste on your palate kind of like a sucker? Tangerine Hop Nosh does this a little bit. I think that is what is meant by cloying. This one does not do that!

When I cracked the can the first thing I noticed was the sweet tangerine smell. It was so pungently sweet and orangey that i was concerned. I was worried that it might disappoint. But, never fear! This is Stone were talking about!

Even as it warms, this thing does not stick to your palate like a candy sucker. It is crisp, clean and decisive with a light / medium body. What lingers is the hops, as should happen with an IPA.

Happy I had the nuts to shell out 12 bucks for the six pack on this one.

Date: canned on 09/24/18, enjoyed on 10/23/18.

Apperance: Rich gold in color with tons of floating fruit pulp and a fingers worth of pillowy white head.

Aroma: Well rounded traditional Stone hop aromas mixed with sweet pineapple and that ever so slight acidic orange juice smell. The malts are here, but are just bold enough to make their presence known.

Taste: Tangerine Express fairs much better than anticipated primarily because Stone understands that this is an IPA first and the fruit is simply an addition. It has that wonderful dry bitterness and cracker like malt profile that is not dissimilar to their Delicious IPA. Up front there is a burst of sweet fruits and pine, but it quickly dries out, leaving a very pleasing bitterness that lingers. The taste quality of the fruit is along the lines of more pithy than sugary. I must admit that initially I rolled my eyes at another fruited IPA, but unlike the majority of them, this one does't overdo the adjuncts. To put it plainly, Stone along with Deschutes, is one of the best uncelebrated big breweries out there.

Cloudy yellow with a thick white head. Smells of tangerine, pineapple, floral, and citrus notes. Taste is tangerine, pineapple, resin, and citrus peel. Medium body and carbonation. Fairly average IPA, easy to drink, tasty.

This is one of the rare stone beers to pour quite cloudy out of the bottle. The body was amber in color and head was one finger thick. The aroma was not too strong of tangerine or pineapple, and instead smelled like many other regular IPAs. The taste was much more fruit driven, providing a strong tangerine flavor, followed by notes of the pineapple, and finishing with a citrus peel bitterness. The finish was sweet-sour with a hint of spice. Easy to drink and refreshing.
