Check, check, check again and... pfffft... check.

Welcome to our vacation transportation express

This ain't no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to thr citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine - the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit - we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you'd likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn't tell you it was there). We're not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the "I want my beer to taste like fruit juice" crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.

Poured from a brown 22 oz. bottle. Has an orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of tangerine peels, little else. Taste is of tangerine and orange peels, a good amount of bitterness. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a decent beer, but I was expecting much more.

Poured from a bomber in to a pint glass.

Not my pint I guess? It's a viscus brew with a lot of solids suspended in the glass. Smells good, fruity of course. Taste is a bit off. I think it has a medicine flavor. Mouthfeel is about like it looks. Chewy for the style. Overall I make it kind f an average IPA. It would be better without all the fruit notes. Bu then it would probably just be Stone IPA. Nothing wrong with that.

Did not taste the bitterness; very good tropical IPA or very good IPA with tropical tastes; very good drinkability

Look: the suspended tangerines particles were off-putting. It poured a nice half-finger of head and had typical IPA, golden color.
Smell: fruity with a tangerines presence. Very nice.
Taste: malt, tangerines, some pine and sweetness for 2 seconds. Then it's just bitter.
Overall, the bitter aftertaste was just not enjoyable compared to other IPAs and just left a bad taste in my mouth. Not really worth it.

Rich gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of bright citrus (can't really tell what) that's zesty and fresh.

Fullsome flavor of solid malt with citrus hops dominant. Fairly simple flavors but strong and straight forward. Not really complex but there's a lot of flavor packed into this one. I do get a hit of tangerine in the aftertaste.

Medium full texture with balancing carbonation.

I like tangerine and think the idea here is sound but this brew is so hop heavy that the somewhat delicate flavor of that fruit is subsumed by hop goodness. Don't get me wrong, the hops here are tasty, yet I have the lingering impression that tangerine was just used as a descriptor rather than a flavor for what is otherwise a very well constructed IPA.

Really hazy goldish/amber color and a clingy but quickly dissolving off-white head. Subtle hints of orange-peel, bread, pomegranate and pineapple on the nose. Balanced taste with a front palate of tangerine and pineapple, malty in the middle but the hops take over on the finish, with strong hints of pine, tropical fruit and more pineapple. Great finish on this beer, coats the palate and lingers.

pours a hazy orange/gold color with very thin head. smell was pretty much not there for me. taste was the bitterness and flavor of orange peel with grapefruit in the background. mouth feel I can't describe except just bitterness on my tongue like dissolving an aspirin. refreshing on a hot day like it is here today.

12 fl oz bottle
Served in a tulip glass

This beer pours a hazy golden hue with visible suspended particles. It is topped with an inch of creamy, eggshell head.

The smell is tangerine peel. The pulp really translate well into the aroma.

Tangerine peel is noticeable right away. Bitterness quickly engulfs my palate leaving a resiny finish.

Medium mouthfeel

An aggressively good west coast is what we have all come to expect from Stone. It is nice to quite chasing trends and try a twist on a classic style.
