This ain't no just-add-juice approach. This one is for adults. We use bountiful whole tangerine purée, which brings pithy, crisp bitterness to thr citrus flavor. In addition to the complexities of the tangerine - the likes of which you can only get by using the whole fruit - we judiciously employ just a hint of whole pineapple for a backnote (you'd likely not even pick it out of the mix if we didn't tell you it was there). We're not looking for a sweet concoction to appease the "I want my beer to taste like fruit juice" crowd. This is Stone. We like our IPAs to taste like IPAs. Big, bold and not for kids.

Now that's what I'm talking about. A standard strength American IPA that celebrates high tropical and citrus flavor but without giving up on dryness or bitterness. Though I love "juicy" hop bombs, the crispness, cleanliness and dryness that leads to drinkability has largely become forgotten. With the west coast mentality leading away, Stone Brewing Company reestablishes the IPA in the current fruit forward market.

Pale gold and with amber and orange tints, the pineapple and orange infused IPA pours with bright clarity and growing eggshell foam. Radiant with perfumy orange peel, sharp red grapefruit and a kiss of graham cracker and light caramel, Tangerine Express carries the herbal nature of lemon verbena, fresh grassiness and citrus peels across a calm malty taste of honey, caramel and pecan.

As the malt sweetness fades fast its the hops that do the talking through the middle palate. Sensational citrus flavors of tangerine, peach, red grapefruit, mango and apricot round into a bitter taste that's soothed only with the aspects of pineapple and a glimpse of vanilla. Its soft and soothing flavor is only preceded by a gripping clean bitterness of resinous spruce, fresh cut grass and a bouquet of herbal botanicals.

Medium bodied yet trending dry, crisp and clean, the beer's finish is bitter, clean and sharp. Not for the faint of heart, this isn't a soft and creamy finish. It's a gullet gripping, citrus oil and peppery herb bite that brings us back to the west coast IPA that die hear hop heads have grown to love.

two finger head fading quickly, strong smell of citrus mainly orange. strong bittering and dry finish, thin mouth feel, tangerine taste disappears with pineapple as a complete no show overall beer is okay but lable writes a check that the beer can't cash.

So I bought this beer on a whim just wanting to try it so I picked up a 22 oz for 4.99.
Look: Nice amber orange color, it is see through and has about 1 finger of head on the pour.

Smell: it smells it a nice citrus Hop bomb. Loads of citrus, Tangerine, pineapple, Grapefruit, hops, west coast style for sure. Smells awesome.

TASTE: the taste is simply Amazing. Picked up a bottle that was bottles on 8/27/17 tried to 10/1/17. The flavors are all there. Has a nice Tangerine, pineapple Grapefruit and a bit piney taste with tons of hops a nice almost vanilla like sweet finish.
Feel: not to heavy so drinkable that easily get you into trouble at 6.7% Apv. Just a perfect balance.

Overall: I rate this beer very high. This is like a flavor explosion on my palate. Just an absolute great IPA with tons of Citrus and hops with a slight sweet vanilla Finish. Absolutely in love with this west coast Style IPA. Definetely pick up if your into Hops and Citrus with a nice touch of perfect sweetness.

Beautiful bottling as always from Stone. How many ipa styles can this brewery nail? This is yet another finely crafted brew. Juicy tangerine shots through classic Stone hop headedness. This beautiful liquid has an orange tint to it with a nice head.

It's aroma is fruity and tropical. Hops blend well with its backbone delighting the nose. Flavors of this is brilliant. Solid rush of juicy tangerines and hop bitterness followed by the smallest hint of fresh pineapple. Finish is clean and tropical. Excellent feel as expected from a top shelf brewery. Texture is world class and it took no time for me to drink this entire bomber bottle.

This is why I Love Stone Brewing Co.
I always know they will have a slew of world class ipas when everything else is missing in that moment. Beautiful beer!

Pours hazy orange with floating particulates and a minimal white head that fades fast.
The aroma is tangerines, citrus and candied fruit.
Taste is loaded with citrus. Tangerine and grapefruit with a piney and bittering finish that hangs around. A dash of finishing sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium and sticky.
Juicy and pithy, good beer.

12 oz can, canned 12/22/17. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big frothy off white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet crystal malt and citrus fruit with grassy resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malt and citrus fruit with a harsh chemical bitterness throughout. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, not what I was expecting flavor-wise.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big grassy hops with light tangerine on the finish. Bitter, medium heavy bodied with moderate carbonation. Makes for a solid/above average west coast style ipa. Did not get much tangerine on this one. Decent, but there are several other ipas I prefer.

Bomber bottled 5/10/17 consumed 6/11/17 in belgian tulip.

Carmel golden slightly hazy body with fluffy lasting head. Head retention is long-lasting and impressive for such a citrusy brew. Smells of sweet decadent malts, strong tangerine rind and juiciness along with hints of pineapple. Taste is very much tangerine forward but with that generous hoppy bitterness that Stone is known. Fresh hoppy grassiness and deeply sweet malts bring this brew together and provides a full bodied juiciness that sits on the tongue and keeps those tangerine and pineapple notes alive. This brew has plenty of tiny particulates in suspension yet the carbonation is still easily visible and bubbles slightly on the tongue, providing the brew an even fuller thickness. This is a very enjoyable ale; so refreshing to taste an creation from Stone that really pushes the boundaries of expectations.

Light copper to gold in color with a massive nearly 2 inch densely packed head. Heavy lacing. The aroma is exactly as described with plenty of tangerine and pineapple. The flavor is clearly a single IPA with hints of tangerine and pineapple. Nothing too aggressive, but it wasn't meant to be. The mouth is fairly smooth other than being faintly sticky and dry.

L: hazy gold filled with small bubble sized floaties

S: citrus, resiny ditch weed, tangerine, biscuit and light toast

T: citrus, biscuit, and tangerine with the tangerine especially noticeable on the finish

F: medium bodied with medium carbonation

O: Despite the floaties, the balance between the added tangerine, the hops and the malt make this an exceptional beer

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Stone can glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear amber orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid finger of off white head that settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A very juicy hop driven aroma with a scent of tropical fruit and pine. Upfront scent of tangerine and pineapple with citrus hop hints of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, and lemon. Earthy hop hints of pine resin and grass. Background malt hints of caramel, grains, and cracker with yeast. A very good juicy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a very juicy hop forward taste with notes of tropical fruit and pine. Big upfront juicy taste of tangerine and pineapple. Citrus hop notes of orange peel, grapefruit, mango, lemon, and melon. Earthy hop notes of pine and grass. Solid background malt presence with some notes of caramel, cracker, and grains along with yeast. A pretty good taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Very juicy and fairly oily. Drying finish.

Overall: A very good fruit infused West Coast Single IPA. Big tropical fruit flavor with a moderate smooth body.
