Notes / Commercial Description:
Kick back and crank it up as we’ve done all the brewing…the we being us and the special guest appearances of two heavy hitters in the indie craft beer industry: New Mexico’s Marble and Colorado’s Odell. Credited with 58 years of brewing chops, our trio built their wheat ale foundation on the classic “C” hops. Then, we rocked a pure hop triad of “M” hops to achieve a supercharged succession of orange, tangerine, lemon, lime, spice and dankness. The undulating riffs of Motueka, Mosaic and Mandarina Bavaria hops slash through the wheat haze with equal footing, never playing over one another. The cacophony of flavor is what fans would expect with a name like Megawheat. So join us as we forge ahead on a path that directly leads to the main stage…and then off the front of it, into the crowd!

If you feel the urge to smash the bottle afterward, don’t. That’s what guitars are for.

Bottle date is messed up on this copy, but I can at least determin Jan of this year. Smell is dank and I don't even like that word, but I actually think it fits here. Pours relatively clear despite the back of the bottle description as hazy. Head is moderate, but fades to single layer of bubbles after a few minutes. This beer is really different depending on where I move the taste around in my mouth. Front is sweet fade to hop bitterness. Back of tongue is alcohol and fruit. Swish it around and there is complexity.
Maybe my palate isn't good enough, but I would not suspect this to be a wheat beer if it wasn't for the name and the description.
Overall- A good interesting collaboration. A surprise with every sip, all good surprises.

22 oz bomber bottled on 1/16/17 and best by 4/6/17. Pours clear straw gold with a big rocky white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is subdued - bready wheat malt with some piney floral hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malt with fruit and a decent piney hop finish with a little alcohol burn. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a decent DIPA.

Light copper in color with vibrant carbonation bubbles within the body. There's a nearly two inch thick dense and lightly tan head. Light to moderate lacing in the glass. I'm smelling a nice blend of pale wheat, bitter citrus hops, and floral hops. I'm smelling notes of banana and tangerine. The taste is prominently wheat with the mosaic hops at the back of the palate. The mouth is fairly quaffable for a double IPA, but I suspect that to be due to the wheat. There's also a light stickiness at the back of the palate.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Stone can glass.

Appearance: Pours a bright amber orange. Moderate amount of bubbles and a solid finger of off white head which slowly settles into a thin patchy layer.

Smell: A very juicy and dank hop driven aroma with a scent of citrus fruit and pine. Big scent of citrus fruit with some orange peel, grapefruit, tangerine, mango, lemon zest, and melon with pineapple. Earthy and dank hop scent pf pine resin, cannabis, and grass. Malt scent of wheat, grains, cracker, and caramel with some yeast. A very nice dank aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a very juicy and dank hop dominated taste with notes of citrus fruit and pine. Big ripe and juicy presence of citrus hops with notes of orange peel, mango, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, and lemon zest with some pineapple. Earthy hop notes of pine resin, spice, and grass. Malt notes of wheat, grains, caramel, and cracker along with some yeast. A very good juicy taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, oily, and drying.

Overall: A really good twist on an Imperial IPA. Has the big juicy and dank hop notes you expect from Stone with a nice touch of wheat.

Picked this up at Total Wine & More in Woodland Hills, CA. Poured into a Stone Brewing standard Pint Glass.

Look: Deep Golden yellow, little to no head with trace amounts of lacing.
Smell: Strong hop and floral notes with a fantastic pine compliment. Lingering scents of wheat.
Taste: Amazing flavor, a perfect balance of citrus and pine, with lingering floral notes as found in the smell. The citrus notes are sweeter, more tangerine as opposed to grapefruit. Aftertaste leaves nice hop quality and lingering notes of fruit (I'd agree with other reviews and definitely get a taste of nectarine).
Feel: Perfect amount of carbonation, very slight stickiness that quickly dissipates.

A fantastic DIPA from Stone, Odell, and Marble. I was initially drawn in from the awesome label art on this bad boy, and was as equally impressed by the beer. I've had my fair share of Stone, and this has broken it's way towards the top. I highly recommend this brew.

Golden color with amber hues. Classic froth cap, lays out fine.

Zesty golden wheat and multi scented hops in the nose. Earthy, zesty and peppery hops pop out in the boldest fashion. Then its zesty and tangy fruits, both tropical and citrus. Very sweet with wheat and even more fruit on that.

The hops....what can you say? A righteous and deep blend of hops creates a very unique and complex flavor. Zesty wheat is bigger than most wheat malt based grews, it is in fact, megawheat. Which puts on a very unique spin to the double IPA style. Between the deep wheat and massive hop flavor's....this brew is proving to be simply epic. I really like wheat based beers especially when the brew itself has big hops. But the hops are very complex and unique enough to stand out, even with the multitude of hop-based brews available. Tangy and zesty are two aspects I really enjoy in hop forward brews.

The mouthfeel is very juicy, bold, zesty, earthy and jazzy. Very fresh and clean !

A very excellent and brash brew.

2017 collaboration. Bottled on 01/09/17 enjoy by 04/06/17. Brassy in color with a medium white head. Definitely doesn't look like a wheat beer, this beer is clear and sparkling. Aroma is mildly hoppy. Flavor brings a kickass combination of fruity, tropical / pineapple, juicy, and herbaceous hop flavors directly to the middle of the tongue. Each one of these 3 hop varieties is clearly bringing a unique and unfamiliar flavor to this beer, and would surely have made a fascinating IPA on its own. The fact that the combination works so well together spells well to the talent, creativity, and effort put in by this collaboration of brewers.

The grain bill doesn't taste wheaty, nor is the malt so subtle or fermented out that this beer becomes a hop bomb with zero balance. Wheat IPAs often throw balance out the window, and with a wheat double IPA from Stone I had some reservation. But this beer actually leaves a little bit of sugary sweetness on the lips and the balance is legit. Sure this doesn't taste like wheat, but they've managed to use wheat as a canvas upon which they can express a lot of hop flavors without getting chalky, muddled, or waxy. Well done!

Gorgeous brew! Transparent golden body; firm white head. Tons of lacing.

Slightly dank aroma with hints of lemon, mango, and pineapple.

Touch of sweetness on the palate, grainy wheat, and lots of hops. Nice bitterness. Very drinkable - dangerously so. Exceptionally smooth.
