Some tangy sourness but more like orange peel, not citrus.

Pours golden ale with fluffy white foam head. Clear notes of hoppy love. Smooth and silky on the palate with subtle ipa bite.

355 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. One of the last remnants from that mixed Stone 12 IPA pack. Enjoy by date of February 23, 2018.
Appearance - Clear golden color, plenty of effervescence and a fine looking finger and a half of frothy off-white head. Very good head retention and streaks of lacing linger as the head dissipates.
Smell - Earthy and leafy hops with a touch of melon and lychee and general citrus. Really nice clean nose that is simple and enjoyable.
Taste - Middling hoppiness, I suppose this would've been more ramped up a month or two ago. Generally fairly leafy, good amounts of bitterness, but not overwhelming. Some tropical fruit in the background with mango and melon being the primary culprits. Pretty balanced and quite enjoyable.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, but not too much and easy drinking body. Finish is quite dry, but again restrained.
Overall - One of those beers that pulls together really nicely. Even after it's prime, this is a tasty IPA that lives up to Stone's namesake.

I see on their website that the Hop Revolver IPA series is only available in their mixed-12 packs. Hmm. I must have hit it lucky at the Giant Food Store's location in the Lancaster Shopping Center where they had this singled out in their Beer Café section. Good deal.
From the bottle: "The aim of this experimental, hop-centric series is to demonstrate just how dramatically a single hop can impact a beer. We’re going to periodically fire off a variety of single-hopped variations of this IPA for some good brewing fun! Empty the bright tank with one. Reload it with another batch. Rinse. Reload. Repeat. We invite you to enjoy along with us."
I Pop!ped the cat's cap & gave her a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. Oh, you didn't know that Simcoe is a kitty?!? Her main attribute is her cattiness, especially on the nose. I then swirled here around in the glass to raise a finger of dense, foamy, tawny head with good retention that left behind nice lacing in its wake. Color was solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was odiferous with cat fumes, underlain with grapefruit and tropical fruits. Here, kitty, kitty. Mouthfeel was soft & fluffy, so I allowed her to just roll around on my tongue, doing her thing. Her thing was the hallmark of the AIPA style - loads of bitterness, ranging from grapefruit citrus to pine resin & topped off by the tropical fruity sweetness that is the latest trend in this burgeoning style. Mmm. Oh, man, I keep railing against AIPAs that rely too heavily on the tropical fruitiness & lose the high IBU count that is intrinsic in the style, but that was not a problem here! It was plenty bitter for this hophead without being so over-the-top as to be off-putting for the casual drinker. Finish was dry, but gasping, making it just that much more enjoyable.

12oz bottle. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of citrus, pineapple and mango. Sweet caramel and tropical fruit flavors with a nice piney bitterness.
