12 oz can, canned 2/15/18. Pours clear copper gold with a big fluffy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet fruity piney hops.

The flavor is sweet malts with fruity resiny hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, a nice IPA.

12 ounce can, canned on 1/26/2018.
Pours clear with an amber color topped by a moderate size, rocky white head. Very good retention. Soapy lacing clings to the glass.
Aroma: citrus rind with hints of other tropical fruits and some floral notes.
Flavor: citrus peel & juice, hints of other tropical fruits including mango and melon, and faint white pepper. A hint of honey in this moderately bitter IPA. Floral, earthy and grassy hop notes.
Overall: a fine, modestly distinct, fruity IPA with good complexity, robustness, and balance.

Pours a transparent orange color, nice hue with bubbling carb and a nice frothy head.

On the nose I’m getting all malt, pine and citrus. Slightly floral on the backend.

Interesting profile on this one. Definitely malty, as I could have guessed from the color. But there is also definite notes of tangerine and a light but even bitterness throughout. Ends a bit sticky, but a smooth beer.

As with many of Stone’s IPAs lately, it’s tasty, drinkable, but doesn’t stand out as anything amazing. So much competition nowadays.

12oz can, plastic hotel cup, canned 2/8/18.

Clear, goldenrod, light tan foam of a finger or so that settles, but retains a full cap.

Lemongrass, grapefruit, and cotton candy. It is certainly a more constrained nose for Stone.

Citrus oils, yellow grapefruit, gummy bears, and some resin. I'll call the bitterness medium, but it has soft edges.

Slick, medium-bodied, with happy, active carbonation.

The nose could be more flagrantly hoppy, but I enjoyed some of the different hop characteristics presented here.

Stone Brewing "Exalted IPA"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED: 01/26/18 E1927 ENJOY BY: 05/26/18"
$2.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Exalted IPA brewed with Citra and Loral hops. Sounds good, but I don't know anything about Loral hops. I've heard of them but that's it. So let's see... it's poured a fingerprint-through-the-glass clear deep-golden/amber colored body beneath a massive head of off-white foam. I may have to wait for this to settle but I won't have to wait to smell it. I'm not sure what to say about it though. It's herbal and citrusy, but only lightly citrusy, which is odd because Citra is a citrus bomb, and floral. There's a note of what I think of as plant matter but that doesn't exactly sound good, and I don't want to give the wrong impression so maybe I should just stick with 'floral'. On to the flavor... whoah, that's pretty bold. The hops in the aroma are nowhere near as strong as they are in the flavor, and again, I'm kind of lost, it's not easy to dissect and describe. What I gave for the aroma works, and now I'm finding chlorophyll, as if this was made with fresh off the vine "wet hops", but I'm not sure if it is. Doubtful I'd say, having been packaged in January. I also get a kind of minty note, and some peppery character which is accentuated by a very firm bitterness. The malt is a little hard to make out as well, probably because the hops are trampling all over it, but I'm feeling it's just lightly caramelish. It's not really biscuity or toasty. I'd call it medium leaning medium-light in body with a gently crisp carbonation. Wow, that pepperiness is really sticking with me now. Let me get some water and try it again... yeah, it's pretty much the same. So let me say right now I'm not particularly fond of this combination of hops, but that's just my personal opinion and I can't let that get in the way of rating it. It's nicely balanced between malt and bitterness and the actual level of hop flavor present so that's what I've got to go with. Additionally, although the hops in the aroma could have been bolder I thought think that they're perfectly acceptable as they are, and the head has held up great and it's left some very nice lacing behind, at least at the outset. So, overall, it's at the very least an interesting and boldly flavored beer, and it's very well made. It's not my cup of tea but it might be yours. Worth trying just to see.

Big, frothy white head, leaving behind tons of lacing. Brew is a perfectly transparent gold color, quite lively,

The nose doesn't hide that this brew is all about the hops. Lemon drops, pine, honey, pale malt biscuit, oregano, mint, grass, grapefruit, mandarin orange. Really deep and juicy.

Flavor is slightly sweeter and more tropical than the nose, but many of the same elements are present, along with a grainy pale malt backbone. Lemon, mango, pineapple, oregano, mint, and some grapefruit peel. Slightly dank on the finish. A reasonable balancing bitterness - quite high, actually - that is a nice callback to Stone's older days.

Smooth, lively, easy drinking; quite bitter; a touch too syrupy, perhaps, especially for a brew that clocks in at 7% ABV.

A nice IPA overall, with a solid hop bill. Loral adds some depth to the very familiar Citra hop. It's not going to jump into my rotation any time soon, but it's a very good beer.

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2 fingers of cream colored head. Good head retention & better lacing

S: Orange peel, leafy hops, a little breadyness

T: Orange peel, mango, dryness, & a little green melon up front. Leafy hops as this warms. a little mango & grapefruit as this warms, crackery dryness too. Finishes dry with woody hops & a little grapefruit

MF: Medium body, crisp carbonation & pretty decent carbonation

Drinks easy, but expecting more from this. Maybe they should put a little more thought into recipe formualtion & not see how many they can crank out in one year?
