12 oz can, dated 1/26/18.

Hops: Citra, Loral

Pours a bit darker than I was expecting. Nose is pretty nice. Taste is more vegetal than citrus, some earthiness as well. Overly bitter. Assuming this is from their Richmond brewery, I have yet to have anything from there that tastes good. I'm done with them for a while.

A: Pours a golden orange color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap that leaves lots of sticky lacing

S: Stone fruit, citrus, and a bit of pine up front along with some caramel and bready malt

T: Follows the nose. Stone fruit, citrus, some melon, and pine hit home for the hops, while the caramel and bready malt notes balance. Finishes with lingering melon and sweet maltiness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very balanced and easy to drink IPA. Almost indifferent about it though... Definitely more west-coast IPA than anything (as expected). I'd like to see the citra more represented, as the loral seems to almost overwhelm them. Solid for sure, but could be more

Weedy often = soapy.
a) Pours a tea gold amber clear body with 3 fingers of frothy white head, but only a little lace and lots retention. Lots of bubbles.
s) Dish soap, perfume, pine, grapefruit, herbs, lemon, honey and toasted grain.
f) Hempy and floral at first over a crystal malt base that gives way to lots of pretty, perfumey, but slightly soap anc cedar soap dish flavors.
f) Thinnish, despite the bitter hop intensity and 7% and oily. bitter. if you like oil soap.
o) Wash your mouth out with this? Not quite at Stone sensation level

Nice IPA that is quite drinkable and has good balance. Good clarity on the look with a lack of head retention. Overall solid, but doesn't blow me away as the hops take a bit of a back door on this one.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Beer Nerd 12-oz. tulip
From: Grocery Outlet in Allied Gardens (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $9.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: Feb. 16, 2018
Consumed: Feb. 16, 2018
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: Canned on Feb. 6, 2018; Enjoy by June 6, 2018

First time I had ever heard of this is when I saw it at Grocery Outlet on Waring Road. This intrigued me in that it featured Loral hops, a new one that I’d had a few times but wanted to try some ore. Can description read, “Stone Exalted IPA represents the elevated state of reverence that Stone extols for the venerable and almighty Hop. Loral & Citra hops have been anointed to bestow their divine qualities on this sacred brew. This limited release is part of Stone’s Hop Worship Seasonal IPA Series…Glory be to those who imbibe it in its freshest form…and faithfully worship thy Hop in the beauty of blissful bitterness.” As always, way too much garbage. All I needed was Loral & Citra hops. Anyway, picked this 6-pack for $9.99 over a 4-pack of Modern Times City of the Sun 4-pack for $9.99. I love City of the Sun, but it was canned on Dec. 22 or so. This Stone 6-pack was Feb. 6. Stone win, despite me rather just trying one of these.

Poured a gold-to-light amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Very good uneven layered lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled lemon, lime, dish soap, sappy pine, light grapefruit, herbal, lemon drop, honey and lightly toasted grain. More lemon and lime from the can. (Smell - 3.75)

Much malttier than I thought with the taste, but still a great deal of bitterness. Got woody notes, sappy pine, bitter grapefruit rind, lemon, lime, green leaf, toasty biscuit, bitter soap and some lingering peppery spice. Reminding me a bit of New Belgium Ranger IPA, but actually good. Seems more than just two hops. No hiding that 7 pct. ABV. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

I think this beer definitely set out to do what I wanted to and that’s to determine what Loral hops are. I think I have a pretty good idea now. Anyway, would not get a 6-pack of this again with so many other options out there, but this was solid. (Overall - 3.75)

Pours a light copper color with about a finger of head. The nose has hoppiness and some mild citrus but nothing really stands out. The hop bitterness is certainly present in the flavor but everything else seems a bit thin, including the body.

For practically any brewer, I would call this a decent effort. For Stone, this is well below average.

12oz can into a pint glass. canned 2/28/18, so 2 months old.

medium amber body with light carbonation. small white bubbly head which persists leaving very good lacing.

somewhat sweet smelling. not detecting hops.

however, despite the aroma, there is a decent hop bite all over the tongue, and bitter. fair malt background.

mouth closer to full than medium, finish bitter and faintly sour.

overall, another decent stone ipa. leans more toward the hop on the balance front, but decently supported by the malt background.

Fresh 2 week old can poured into a tulip.

I'm a HUGE enjoy by fan so was looking forward to this. But dear God this is the worst smelling ipa I've ever smelled. It literally smells like feet.

Taste is all onion and more feet.

Feel is thin

Overall it completely sucks.

What garbage.
