What's sure to become Mecca to hop heads near and far, Stone Brewing Company release another beer in their Hop Worship series. With the seamless melody between Mosaic and El Dorado hops and this IPA demonstrates perfectly why Stone is at the top of the totem pole when it comes to hops.

Pale and hazy gold, Idolatrous IPA builds a frothy, creamy meringue that lasts the session confidently. A fruit filled perfume rolls over the senses with a tropical, citrus, herbal and stone fruit grouping of aromas. Malty sweet with toasted granola, savory nuttiness and a caramelized honey taste gently glosses over the early palate.

But then the middle palate explodes with hop flavors and largely cast any malt balance to the wayside. Blossoming with mango, apricot and pineapple, the tropical presence of the hops take control. But a followup of orange, pink grapefruit and lime tease the tastebuds with a zesty acidity of citrus. Passionfruit, peach, melon and blackcurrant create a peppery fruitiness and a juicy resonance that allows the ale to trail into a bitter late palate of green tea, spruce, sassafras and fresh grassiness.

Honing in on that West Coast IPA character, the beer trends bitter, crisp, drying and highly refreshing. Cleansing the thirst from the palate, a long linger of spicy and botanical hops is all that's left after an otherwise medium length aftertaste. A tease of gin and hemp add whimsy, balance and spice to the bitterness that's holding on for a long and rewarding session.

Canned on 5/31/18. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; big fluffy white head that takes awhile to fall leaving great thick retention and sticky frothy lacing. The aromas have hints of citrus and floral notes. Some bread and crackers. Malts are there. The flavors basically follow the nose for the most part. Some grapefruit and lemon leading the way. Some pine needles and pine resin. Subtle hints of caramel. Nice hop bitterness. Malts do their thing without dominating. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA. It's nothing too crazy when compared to alot of Stone's IPAs, but it works and is well crafted. Not bad at all.

Look... boring. Nose... pretty decent. Taste...Ba Bam! Only two weeks old when it hit my belly....these guys know how to do it.... creatively hoppy and produced on a mass scale by craft standards. It's a "limited release" so find it and drink it!

Nothing like a good ol' Stone IPA with some new-school hops to really whet the palate. These guys have been decent enough lately, so I picked up a single of both this and their new DIPA "Fear.Movie.Lions" to try. This is part of their Hop Worship series and utilizes Mosaic and El Dorado hop varietals.

Pour is a beautiful clear golden color with bright, effervescent carbonation and a dense, thick head of eggshell-white foam that leaves behind excellent lace in my glass. A wonderful pour with the character I expect from Stone: arrogant, aggressive and, yet, somewhat graceful as well! Great legs, too... this is a winner all around so far!

The nose is tropical and juicy with notes of pineapple, guava and sweet orange peel crossed with some light pomelo and tangerine notes. Slightly catty and dank. A little bit of pine in there, too, but this is mostly biased towards the fruity side of things. El Dorado/Mosaic seems like an awesome combination for this one! Super clean, as expected from the appearance... the pungent citrus melds perfectly with the softer tropical notes and the dank-leaning pine/spice. Love it!

On the tongue, this is crisp and hoppy with flavors of grapefruit, pomelo, guava and passion fruit. There's a definite crackery malt backbone here, though, which helps give some balance to the hop assault on order. It's clean, super-drinkable and very flavorful, for sure, and I really like that there's actually some body to the proceedings. Stone has always been known to make pretty "balanced" hoppy beers despite their outward dedication to hops, so I'm not surprised, but I'm impressed by how well this all comes together.

Regarding freshness and the idea of multiple brewery locations, I'm very happy to report that whatever issues I had in 2017 regarding Stone's VA facility have pretty much gone by the wayside. This was canned just about two weeks ago and it tastes like the nectar of the gods. The feel is pretty much perfect, with an oil-biased slickness and light, crisp malt deftness in the mid-palate. There's just enough carbonation to push the flavors around, and not an iota more... this is one of the best Stone beers in a while, and one I would certainly pick up again!

El Dorado and Mosaic. Wonderful. You have to love beer distribution when you can get Stone with a 5/31 date in Southeastern Pennsylvania on 6/15. I drank this fresh hoppy juicy beer straight from the can and loved every minute of it. Bitter but citrus feel and smell. 7% beers aren’t supposed to be this easy to drink. I am going back for more. Loved this.

It has been a good Stone day around my place. We live thousands of miles from California, and we had an excellent local, Norhteast Ohio, beer scene, but we also get great products from Stone shopped cross country to distributors in our area.
This one pours perfectly clear, and pale yellow., with fine fizz.

The aromn is dirty hoppy and skunky. The taste is bitter but with an untercurrent of yeasty tastes. Afterwords, the bitter sit on your tougue.

Recommended.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Clear light golden pour with massive fluffy white head. Great retention and lacing.

S: Tropical fruit and citrus.. juicy.

T/F: Sweet lightly toasted grains... tropical and fruity. Pineapple, guava, and papaya. Dank... mild citrus but more tropical. Bitterness comes in later for balance. Oily on the tongue. Tropicals and bitter at the finish. Medium to light bodied.

O: Another awesome Stone IPA (tastes like an Imperial IPA). More tropical than most of their brews... great hop flavor. Dangerously drinkable at 7%.
