Notes: West Coast hops. East Coast haze. Passion fruit, orange and guava juice inspired by the popular Hawaiian drink. This ridiculously tasty double IPA combines influences from across the country into one of the most flavorful beers we’ve ever released. One could call it a perfect storm, we’d say it’s Peak Conditions.

This beer is inspired by three other Stone beers: Stone///Fear.Movie.Lions Double IPA, Stone Tangerine Express IPA, and Stone Notorious P.O.G. Berliner Weisse. It originally started out as a special creation from our brewers and we liked it so much that we decided to do a big release. It has all the hops and bravado of a double IPA along with real fruit additions that give this beer added complexity and depth.

Canned 02/21/20

Appearance - Pours hazy and slightly muddled orange in color with an off-white, near finger width head. Sub-par retention, settling quickly to thin, broken layer of surface suds with a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Not much for lacing; a handful of tiny patches and small spots.

Smell - Juicy, citrusy aroma. Getting a very strong red grapefruit aroma here.

Taste - Follows the nose. Prominent ruby red grapefruit flavor. Yeah. That's basically it.

Mouthfeel - On the fuller side of medium-bodied with fair, slightly bitey carbonation. Slick, smooth drinker before a slightly dry finish.

Overall - They added orange, passionfruit and guava to this beer, but to me this tastes like straight up ruby red grapefruit. I really don't taste much else, truth be told.

Pours, as this style often does, a muddy copper with two fingers of pretty off-white head with lotsa lacing. Hop and fruit notes kinda pop outta the glass in a wonderful way; getting lots of ripe, freshly squeezed oranges in particular. Smells fantastic. Taste is mucho citrus as well, though there's a mildly bitter grapefruit vibe to go along with the straight-up alcoholic orange juice. Wonderfully balanced with sweet malts that don't overwhelm. Medium-bodied, as this style ought to be. This is probably the best Stone IPA I've ever had. Certainly in recent memory, anyway.

One of my favorite DIPA I’ve ever had. Not hazy really and a bit thinner in the mouth than some, but the flavor layers are incredible! Lots of fresh tropical fruit (pineapple/citrus/guava) with enough bitterness to make you come back for another sip. And then... it’s all gone...

12oz can. Poured out a hazy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It smelled of pineapple, grapefruit and orange peel. Sweet tropical taste with piney bitterness and toasted caramel.

poured from can into pint glass.

A: super hazy, cloudy, golden amber body, and an off-white head with mid-level retention and patchy amounts of lacing, leaving a scattered foam cap across the surface
S: pow-hops. deep caramel malt notes round out the lush tropical citrus hop. earthy grapefruit hop aroma comes through big as you sit with it later
T: follows the nose. dank hop forward with a deep rich caramel malt backbone. lush tropic fruits up front, dry pine and guava tang show up later in the journey
F: solid amount of carbonation. medium-thick body. a slight dry finish with a minimal coating

Overall (personal opinion):
this is one of the more complicated and rewarding "hazy IPA" brews I've had up to this point. it nails the lush tropical fruit mixed with dank hop expectation you'd have when looking at it, but as you sit with it, it blooms into a different jam, the earthy pine springing forward with warmth and bringing the near-lime tang and crisp citrus of the guava with it. the feel of the body barely keeps up appearances with this change, but it sticks the landing.

worth it. get the pack and dive in.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 2/21/20, so it's still relatively fresh.

Appearance: murky orange hue with a finger of frothy ivory foam atop; it's turbid, but I like it.

Smell: sweet mango and pineapple tropical fruit aromas. There's some orange in there too, along with a little bit of dankness. It's earthy, rich, deep, and basically just my taste. Shazam!

Taste: fruity, dank, and earthy; the flavor is more of a mess than the aroma. The aroma is a thing of beauty, but the constituents don't work together as well in the taste -- there's a bit too much sweetness, a bit too much dankness, and overall just a clash of character. Still a good and interesting beer, but not quite the amazing concoction that the aroma suggested.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a really big carbonation and actually a great big smooth creaminess that really works for me. Kudos.

Overall: this is a good beer, and I like it. I just wish the flavor lived up to the aroma a little bit more.

Dark copper colored with a very hazy complexion. There’s a fingernail of beige on top. Moderate lacing. The aroma is an intense blend of passion fruit, guava, and citrus. I’m tasting lots of passion fruit, guava, and a touch of citrus. Guava gives the mouth a cooling sensation and it is otherwise smooth.

Very surprised at how good this is. 2020 12 oz can from 02/14/20, so just made the best by date. Poured chilled to an IPA glass. Pours a deep hazy goldenrod orange, with a meandering orange-white head, that leaves tons of lacing. Nose is citrus all day. They talk about the three beers that went into this, none of which was a winner for me. This has a very rich fruitiness, that follows a taste sequence like if you bit into an orange: quick pithy bite first, followed by a full sweet orange juice, with a mellow balance on the back, bringing in the guava and passion fruit. Nice nose. Nose color. Nice carbonation. Crisp. I have it chilled, but maybe a little colder would really make this a quencher. No alcohol burn, no fast buzz. I don’t even want to have it warm up. If you take big swigs, it’s really a party in your mouth. Enough of a swallow, and you almost get an orange Crush vibe. More will be needed!

Pours a cloudy orang-ish fruit color with a half finger of head. The nose and flavor are as close to fruit juice as possible for something that can still be legitimately called beer. The passion fruit is really noticeable.

Pours a hazed amber with one finger of cream colored head. Better than average head retention

S: Tropical fruit & grapefruit once warm

T: Mango, grapefruit, green melon & pine up front, just a little dryness. Grapefruit, green melon & lime as this warms. Finishes with plenty of grapefruit, guava & some dryness & lime

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, nice balance

Easy drinker, would certainly buy this again given the chance

Umm... Yeah... Hmm... This is a strange one (kind of like the weird/hot chick in high school that played Magic The Gathering). Like, she is in her own class. And right here, I feel like this beer should be its own style. To me, it’s more than just an IPA or a Hazy one at that. I don’t think grapefruit juice is popular, right? Like, there isn’t a Tropicana or Simply Orange of grapefruit. That being said, try and picture a grapefruit juice company, and then picture them making an “adult version.” Yeah, this is it. Grapefruit first and alcohol second. It’s definitely crushable, but at the end of the day, Raul would prefer the captain of the cheerleading squad over the pale chick with jet black hair.

Peace!
