6200th review! 500 ml bottle into snifter, bottled in 10/2017. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Slight spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, vanilla, cream, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisins, nuts, licorice, molasses, leather, tobacco, smoke, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Slight booze in the aromas as it warmed, but not overwhelming. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, vanilla, cream, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of raisins, nuts, licorice, molasses, leather, tobacco, smoke, char, and roast/oak earthiness. Very mild roast/char bitterness and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, fudge, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, vanilla, cream, dark/brown bread, light licorice/smoke, and roast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet and bourbon/oak spiciness; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and full body; with a smooth, creamy, silky, velvety, and rich mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal chalky roast, oak tannins, or dryness. Alcohol is extremely well hidden; a mild warmth of 13.5%, with zero barrel booziness lingering after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic barrel aged Russian imperial stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and bourbon barrel flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV; with the very mildly bitter/tannic/drying finish. Very rich and well rounded malt complexity, with perfect barrel integration/balance. Never overly boozy, tannic, or drying. Very mellowed out hop presence and extremely smooth/silky mouthfeel from the extended barrel aging. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

L: pours black, medium thickness with not much of a head
S: bourbon and bitter sweet chocolate.
T: chocolate and bourbon. Not rich and fudgy, but sweet and thinner sharper chocolate and bourbon flavors
F: medium thickness, lots of carbonated bubbles, smooth other than all those bubbles.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a thin, tan-colored, creamy head that quickly dissipated. Below average lacing.

S: A big, powerful aroma of bourbon, dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit, and coffee.

T: Tasted of a hint of coffee (not much), lots of dark chocolate (very nice), some roasted malt, ton of dark fruit (raisins, in particular), cherries, bourbon, and light hops in the finish. Like the aroma, the flavor was big and powerful. It's complex warming, and very yummy. Not overly boozy considering the high ABV %.

F: An average amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Very much full-bodied.

O: A well made RIS that benefits greatly from the bourbon barrel aging. Quite drinkable.

Deep and dark with minimal tan head. Aroma of bourbon, malt and a deep dark sweetness. Taste is roast with dark fruits. Lots of bourbon and a good balance of malts. Finish is with a search of alcohol and a roasted sweet malt finish.

That was a bitch to open...

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a sliver of caramel colored head. Viscious, zero lacing & head retention

S: Bourbon , dark fruit, raw booze, some figs late

T: Follows the nose, woody dryness, some booze warmth up front, plus dark chocolate. A touch of raisin & dark cherry mixes with Bourbon & warming booze, plus more dryness as this warms. Finishes boozey, with oaky dryness &, figs

MF: Fairly chewy, slight carbonation, warming

Pretty good, the barrel aspect is still a little too strong for perfection; maybe give this a year + ???

Long time want that is letting me down. Looks good on the pour and a great nose, but there in an astringent flavor that goes on for days lingering long after the malt, heat, and sweet aspects have faded away.
