Ah, such sweet pleasure in life to have people so thoughtful as to show up on your doorstep after an extended period away with gifts in hand (of the unsampled, bottled variety)! A visitation of proportions, I tell you. Last year, it was the Stone 5th Ann. IPA (stupendous!!). This time, 6th Ann. Porter. Having forgiven all patience in waiting for a special occasion (oh yeah, I have another bottle yet!), I poured this 18 oz bottle straight away into a huge tankard and let it relax. Gorgeous black tickness with a thinly remaining head. Aroma was huge (fruity-raisin smell, sweet alcohol and peat-smoked nose). To-the-max taste with complexity of all ingredients. Has relations to differing styles, as the hop bittering is significant (and lingering when the beer is allowed to lazy on the tongue...), its roasted malt flavors are bold, and added ceremoniously and unapologetically kick-in-the-ass smoked malts lend intrigue. Mouthfeel is substantial. My summation = Stouts-son-Porter-from-Eidinburgh-intermix-with-Indias-Palest-Aleing-offspring-and-meet-to-trist-with?-some-xpat-fruity-Belgian?? Perhaps...and they all have smoking problems. A very unique beer with no faults to my taste. Immensely impressive. Reminds me of a Dylan song.

Bottle-aged for 3 years at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Bottling Date: 04/11/2016. Enjoyed on 01/16/2020
Appearance:
Pours an intense ebony that's almost black. A color I'd imagine the trees of Germany's Black Forest to appear at night. Foams up a respectable mocha head that slowly fades and laces like artwork.
Bouquet:
Lightly toasted malts, bourbon-kissed black cherries, espresso, oak firewood, and a touch of unsweetened chocolate.
Taste:
Deeply malty with an indulgent complex of supporting flavors: brûléed cream, roasted coffee beans, baker's chocolate, bourbon soaked cherries, and lashings of smokey, woodsy dryness. Concludes with a mellow finish that's soft as satin.
Feel:
A rich, velvety, medium body that lingers with serene creaminess.
Overall:
Aging really brings forth the desirable characteristics of Stone's 6th Anniversary Porter. Astonishingly complex! The best of their anniversary series to-date, in my opinion. It's a real shame this doesn't exist anymore, I will miss it dearly when my little collection runs out.

Dark appearance with significant head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a mild malt. Taste is a bitter malt that is a little on the watery side. Not my favorite.

Black. Texture is hardened water but has good weight. Brown hue. Smell and taste are good. Good yeast presence adds a honey sweet. Moderate smokey roast. Light chocolate. Molasses bitterness.
Medium body. Biting carbonation.
Go for it.

Pours a pitch black color with a thick foamy head. Head retention is decent. Lacing is very good. Good java aroma. A little hoppy. More of a bitter licotice taste. Mild java. Medium to heavy bodied with mild carbonation.

It's a very dark brown, clear with a finger of creamy tan head. It has great retention and leaves big swathes of tight sticky head. The aroma is rich malts, with some chocolate and coffee and a hint of earth. The taste is similar with just and hint of roasted malts. The body is rich and smooth, with a silky finish.
