Very interesting herbacious flavor. Pours a light yellow with very little white head. Little to no lacing. An herbacious smell with the lemon thyme coming through heavily.

Very much enjoyed this entry in the Farmhouse Ale style.

I got a bottle of Stone's Saison Du BUFF for $2.19 at The Lager Mill. I've had Dogfish Head's version of this beer and I'm interested to see how Stones version compares, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a teku.

A- The label looks nice, it's got a nice clean look to it and it's just a little eye catching. It poured a hazy darker orange color that took on more of a brighter orange color when held to the light with a little over two and a half fingers worth of fluffy and creamy slightly off white head that died down to a thick ring that stayed till the end and it left a little bit of patchy lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking Saison, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium amount of sweetness with the saison yeast being the first to show up and it imparts a typical saison aroma with some banana and bubble gum like aroma coming through and the spices seem to blend in with the herbs making for a very zesty herbal aroma with the rosemary sticking out the most and some dill and parsley in the background. Up next comes the malts which impart some sweet malt, a little pale malt and fruity aromas with stonefruits seeming to stick out the most. This beer had a pretty nice aroma, it's pretty much what I would expect from the style and the herbs are highlighted nicely.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the saison yeast still being the first to show up and it imparts all the same aspects that it did in the aroma, but it's a little lighter on the bubblegum with more banana and estery yeast flavors coming through. Up next comes the herbs which imparts big mix of herbal and spicy flavors with no single aspects sticking out on it's own. Up next comes the malts which impart all the aspects that they did in the aroma and it's followed by the hops which impart a generic hop flavor with a slightly higher amount of medium bitterness and it had saison yeast and herbal aftertaste. This is a pretty nice tasting beer, it lives up to it's description.

M- A little smooth, very crisp, a little prickly, a little dry on the finish, medium bodied with a higher amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a pretty nice beer and nice example of the style, I like it a little more than the Dogfish Head version since this one seems to be more balanced and it also has better drinkability, I could drink two of these, but that would be my limit. What I like the most about this beer is the balance, no single aspect got to be too overpowering. What I like the least about this beer is nothing, there's not a single aspect that sticks out as not being as good as the others. I would buy this beer again when in the mood for something with a lot of herbal flavors and I would recommend it to someone looking for the same. All in all I liked this beer and I thought stone did a good job at keeping things on the balanced side and liked that. It's not a favorite Stone beer, but it's my favorite version of the beer without having the victory one and it's above average for the style. Nice jog guys, this a tasty and unique saison, keep it up.

2016 release, 6.8% ABV, 355ml bottle poured into an oversized wine glass.

Slight hazy bright gold color with a slight orange tinge, 1 finger foamy white head forms up and dissipates rather quick to some bubble film on the surface also leaves some lacing on the glass-side.

The aroma pronounces robust herbal character from a rosemary, sage, lemon thyme and parsley that same time provides some spiciness. Hop nicely lurks beneath the herb with a citrus and lemon rind scent while yeast also yields a hint of banana ester and clove. Malt is not completely buried here with some bready note.

Herb still predominates like in the aroma, it provides big herbal and lightly spicy touch. Malt plays as supporting role with a clean bready note as well as yeast with a fruity ester. Hop gets connected with a zesty citrus, tropical fruit and lemon rind while also leaves some bitterness to balance at the almost end. Finish is somewhat herbal and spicy that reclaims its place to last as the aftertaste.

Medium body with lively carbonation generating smooth mouthfeel also crisp and refreshing feeling through the palate, finish is very dry.

Very good brew, I like the complexity as there are many layers of aroma and flavor that tempt to be disclosed.

An opaque straw color with just about a fingers worth of foamy white head. In the nose you get rosemary, thyme, and a little bit of lemon. The flavor follows the nose as you get the spices up front followed by citrus and something earthy. The feel is medium low with good carbonation for the beer but not a lot of it. Overall this beer has a lot of interesting flavors that meld well together. Definitely worth trying!

Hazy golden straw color, wild bubbles and a high rising white cap.
Que Simon And Garfunkle because the aroma is dominated by Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. But also, Lemmon zest and honey sweet malt.
Feel is light, crisp bite, zesty and lively with long, smooth bubbly finish.
The flavor is certainly represented well by the big mixed herbal blend of spices and zestiness. Dry effect with light, crispy malt and only slightly sweet. A long lingering, slightly bitter herbal yeast and hop combo seems to be just about right.

I must admit I'm crazy about Farmhouse ale's. They are my go-to style and have been for several years. I find each version to be facinating in flavor and effect. I highly enjoy the herbal domination of this one because it still keeps the styles basic roots.

Hmmmm - with this pedigree we can''t lose, can we?
Pours pale gold and the head fades quickly. After that - it's almost like the idea was to make 'Saison-smooth' and where is the zest, the earthiness, the bite?
Ah-hem, not there.
Undercarbonated for style, as well.
