Pours a dark mohagany color with a tan head and lacing, smell is chocolate and cherry. Taste is tart cherry but not in a sour way, it fresh it mixes well with the chocolate, some hops and vanilla with a roasted malt finish. Well carbonated with with fruit and chocolate a dry finish. This stout was very good its been in the fridge for at least 3 years and stood up very well.

Gives that ruddy brown and black appearance that makes cherry an adjunct that generally doesn't play out so well appearance wise. This one is fine, but you know, still has that look.

Aroma was definitely still cherry, chocolate malt, the roast covered, more lactose and cherry to this one.

Taste hits with the same notes as the nose. A little bit of hopping, some vanilla. Nothing thin bodied about this. Kinda expensive at $4/12oz, but a fun dessert beer every now and then. Age has done it well.

This beer blows me away, not a perfect stout by any means but im drinking it at over 4 years old. A coworker found this at the bottom of her fridge behind the fruit drawer...

There is still quite a bit of carbonation in this, which is too bad considering its a stout, but that is by far the worst part of this beer. The cherries are definately apparent its pleasantly tart and leaves a dry after taste on the palate but the chocolate is in the forefront in aroma and flavors. Im not sure if this really is a milk stout because the lactose strains are certainly not apparent which is another plus for me, overall great beer, wonder what it was like closer to the beginning of it life?! Hard to believe it held up this well for so long, just another testimate that Stone REALLY no what they are doing!

L: Pours deep black with a 1” tan foam collar that recedes moderately slow and leaves intricate lacing. S: Cherry and chocolate aromas. T: Stone achieves an intricate balance between the cherry, chocolate and malt with a bitter hop accent. F: Medium full body, slightly below medium carbonation, creamy. O: Cherries and chocolate go together in a fine stout.

12oz bottle, bottled 2011, poured into Stone snifter

A- pours jet black in color with a dark brown fizzy head that reduces to just a ring around the edge, looks like a glass of coffee

S- the aroma smells exactly like a home-made cranberry cordial; fresh simmered cranberries with sugar and a hint of vanilla. Chocolate malt lies underneath the fruity aroma, with light roast and a hint of coffee, sweet lactose aroma closes it out

T- the cherries are pronounced up front and add an immediate tartness, followed by flavors of cherry cordial. The chocolate malt kicks in mid-palate that gives a flavor reminiscent of a chocolate covered cherry, lactose sugary sweetness on the finish, with lingers of cherry and a hint of metallic flavor, perhaps a bit of oxidization

M- medium body with low carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly tart, dry finish

O- after three years, this is still a tasty brew. The cherries are more pronounced than expected, which was a good thing. It even added a nice mix of sweet/tart to the base stout

Definitely past its prime. I had one when it was fresh and I wish I had kept notes, but my memory tells me it was full of flavors, maybe a bit too many/much. The flavors have now mellowed and integrated in every respect, and probably a little too much.
