12oz bottle with no freshness date. Limited beer brewed once.
Poured brownish-red in color. The red comes through when you hold it up to the light. One finger of cream colored head has settled to thin and spotty lace after a few minutes or so. Decent amount of lacing on the glass.
Nose consist of brown sugar, chocolate malts, nutmeg, maple syrup, and wood. For as much as I'm able to pick out in the aroma, it's actually pretty clean and subtle.
Taste: Toasted malts up front, and the birch bark (at least I think that's what I'm tasting) seems to be coming through nicely as well. There's a certain sensation that this rare combination of ingredients creates on the palate. It's almost like a spicy feel similar to horseradish or wasabi, but it doesn't taste like that, just the burning sensation is similar, but far less intense. Flavors linger a bit, but the finish is actually rather clean.
Thin to medium bodied with low level of carbonation.
A unique and tasty pumpkin ale, although it really taste more like a souped-up brown ale.
Morey's Bottom Line: A tasty fall beer that I'm enjoying quite a bit as a switch up from all the IS and DIPA's that I've been drinking lately. Glad that I got to try it.

Amber and copper appearance. Aroma was very much fall, had the pumpkin and yam thing going for it.
Relatively light malt body to get the Thanksgiving stuff across without being heavy. Every other fall beer seems to be a stout, so this went a lighter direction and I guess it works if this is what you're into. I can't get too jazzed about a pumpkin beer. The birch bark has a drying effect on the mouthfeel. Better for it.
